^ Bud try reading the rest of the topic not just stopping at the first post you disagree with. Quite a few people have gone on to explain why they are for the system we have. I look forward to the permanence of the choice and most people I actually talk to with the game do as well. So if Blizzard wants to cater to the audience that I enjoy interacting with, then hell yeah, more people who are chill and happy with the game. You can stop any time it gets tiresome and play Path of Exile or something. >.> IDK what's hot these days.
now tell my why TF you would like them to prevent people to min maxis someone who keep chancing covenants actually negatively impacting you experience? NOis preventing him to so so, negatively impacting HIS experience? YESso please, try to use your brain if you want to live as a casual, both in game and irl :)

just make covenants cosmetic only....
I can summarize this pretty quick. Some people are vaguely saying "It would hurt the 'rest of us'/ the 'not-1%' of us." In both regards to opening up the covenants, and to detaching the cov abilities. Other people are saying the "#PullTheRipcord" and doing what the monk discord does. My personal thoughts? Blizzard should open up the covenants, and stop with the "timegate," or rather stop limiting the playerbase. Here's the reasoning. People are saying "OH BUT ONLY THE 1% WOULD CARE," lemmie ask this. A Kyrian Mistweaver would care while a Necrolord wouldn't. Why? Kyrian's cov ability got nerfed by 97.3% (figure obtained by the Mistweaver discord through generally watching the shadowlands channel.) What stops the Necrolord from caring? Any number of things. They picked the best cov, or they don't care and like the look, or even they just picked what the alleged "top 1%" has picked. Why, you ask, do people care? Well it comes down to a matter of "Who likes what" v.s. "Who wants to perform." The major difference is that the "likes what" are under-represented, but overly vocal while the "wants to perform" are over-represented, but are silent. There's a reason it's called The Silent Majority, and even if the strawpoll used is obscure and inaccurate as heck, you can't say that 99% of players are obscenely casual, and 1% are hardcore. That's like saying 99% of people don't like mayo, and only 1% likes it. Then when asked "Where'd you get that number," you say "It's obvious" or something to redirect or deflected providing reasonable, substantial proof. No one knows these figures unless you go off a basis of approx WoW players, then factor in AOTC and Cutting edge. The last numbers I've heard are that about 1% has killed MYTHIC CARAPACE, and 0.66% has killed MYTHIC NZOTH. If we look at WoWhead (which is still obscenely inaccurate as not everyone who plays the game uses WoWhead), avg 3% of player profiles has obtained Cutting Edge for Mythic Nzoth. That still invalidates the 1% argument, otherwise you're saying that the other 97% would be unaffected, which again... you're wrong... WoWhead also states that 31% of profiles have obtained AOTC. So... did the 31% bumble their way into AOTC? No, Nzoth requires some form of either carry, or actual simming, and knowing your class. In general:No, it's not the 1%, stop that argument and read above. Use some critical thinking. No, it won't harm the "99%" for the "1%," and if you still think it does, prove why by putting it in the comments. I'm advocating for better cov abilities that are actually tuned, not cov abilities that one spec says "Oh, use this in every scenario."
I just don't understand why "meaningful choices" people want to dampen on how literally everyone else should play and impact others fun so they feel satisfied in their choice and may not switch. Some abilities are bad for some specs and I like playing multiple specs on my classes. I also want to progress in all covenants. This has nothing to do with being a 1% or 10%, it's just wanting to enjoy your class and have fun, and liking your ability for your current spec but also doing world quests in different zones to mix it up. I am a completionist to max them out get the mounts and transmogs etc on all class and armor types but this makes me wait for arbitrary reasons.
"Tryhards" as some metion here, or the "1%" wont suffer at all, I don't know why everyone is freaking out over this. There's nothing to do in SL compared to recent expansions. Me and my guild is just going to pick whatever is best for raiding and when mythic is done my guild will carry my and others from the guilds M+ characters so we can push M+. Super easy, alot less frustrating than BFA or legion. :)And for the few times I do pug, if someone signs up with the wrong covenant choice for the content he/she is getting declined
