To complete Thieving Critters you have to loot the 2 keys: Sticky Key & Muddy Key and open the Double-Locked Chest Double-Locked Chest.

Sticky Key drop from Mischievous Stagnose. This mob walks under the ground (Orange Trail), to find him you have to follow the Smell and use Burrow.
Muddy Key drop from Sneaky Darkfang. This mob spawns after interact with Wriggling Webs. You can find the webs by going straight from the cave entrance.

The Keys don't drop specifically from those mobs; I got the muddy key from the stagnose and the sticky key from the sneaky darkfang.

Also, to interact with the stagnose, I had to burrow and then dig right when the orange trail hit me while I was burrowed.

JIMMY CHRISTMAS finally found sticky key from spider suck in web. Follow tunnel off to the right with chest behind you. Stuck to right side of tunnel by-passing the green poison haze. The web is found at end of tunnel.

Take right branch and get the first key from an egg like thing at the end of tunnel that you just click on, spider will come out and kill for key. Wandered all over trying to find the other one, killing big snakes that came out of ground when I burrowed (wrong). Burrow through the green stuff in the left branch. Watch for a kind of orange mist running back and forth, this is what you want. Stand in the way of it burrowed, your dig key will highlight as it passes over you, smash it quick and that will pop the guy you need to kill for the second key. Don't bother killing anything you don't need, just a waste of time. Be sure to kill the little mouse at the end of this tunnel for the extra quest.

burrowed into some green gas, now im just stuck like cowering and nothing is happening

Don't do what I did, quickly mouse over the keys and think they're just vendor trash along with all the other trash in my bags. I ran around for another twenty minutes trying to figure out what I was suppose to do before I came here.

I have been in this cave for an hour now. I have killed 4 different sets of eggs/spiders and the key never drops. The muddy key dropped immediately from the Snugnose, but I'm tired of looking for the sticky key. Killed way too many spiders and other things. I wish Blizzard would fix this.

How do you get the quest that's under the green gas?

Either key may drop from the spider or the mischievous stagnose.

1. Go down the cave to the treasure chest.
2. Take the tunnel to the right.
3. Use Myritt to dig under the green poison to get to the other side.
4. Around the corner is a web enclosure. Kill the spider in the web to get the first key.
5. There will be a lump of dirt that appears on the ground. Dig into this to pull up the Treasure Mouse. He will drop a quest, unless you're like me and tamed him on your hunter. Ha ha.
6. Go back to the treasure chest. Take the tunnel to the left. You can dig your way to the quest beyond the green stuff if you want to grab that, otherwise.....
7. To get the Mischievous Stagnose, wait outside the green poison area and burrow underground using Myritt. Once the moving brownish trail reaches your destination, click on dig and he will pop up to kill. He will drop the second key.

*If you get scorpions on you, jump up and down to get rid of them.
