Quest may be bugged for some so here's a Melan P comment that worked for people:
After experimenting for ages, this worked for me:
Take any of the shoes and get the "Wearing Watergliders" buff.
Click off the "Wearing Watergliders buff."
Take the green shoes.
Talk to the npc right next to the shoes.
Profit.

Looks like this quest is bugged. If you pick water walkers the 2nd action to use the net never shows. Pick water gliders and quest seems to work as normal.

How this quest works:

- Go to the table and put on the waterwalkers.
- You'll have an action button; click it.
- You'll move along the water rapidly.
- You'll get a new action button for catching fish; click it.
- Continue clicking the two buttons, and throw the net over the fish to catch them.

I had to logout and logback in to get it to work. Definitely want the water gliders. The quest is easier if you don't float on the water. But if you do float on the water it's a panic.

For anyone who was stuck like me with the Iskaar waterwalker do this:

Leave the Hydro Tuskarr quest zone (just fly with your mount until quest is gone from your log).
return back to the quest.
make sure you pick the Iskaar Waterglider this time!

Choose the Watergliders! Leave the zone if you're stuck with the other one.

Hint: Create a macro with the following code and bind it to a key you can press while zipping around the lake
/click ExtraActionButton1

It also casts the Watergliders once their buff ran out.

FYI you can go underwater with the shoes on which makes you slow way down and makes catching the fish much easier!

for some reason, net button never appeared while using Elvui, had to disable it to do the quest, hope it helps!

Was able to keep from falling into the water all the time by using my Anglers Fishing Raft. Selected the green shoes, hopped on my raft, and clicked the action button to zoom around the lake. After clicking to zoom I got the extra button for the net. Just had to re-click to zoom whenever I reached the shore, but didn't take long to net the needed number of fish.

You need to fish with a net.
Attach shoes (you can glide on water) -> the net should appear as extra button.
if it doesn't, leave the quest zone and reenter.

As of now, the Waterwalkers allow you to walk on water, but not casting the net, so use the Watergliders.

Bugged AF. Click off buff if you took anything and relog (reload will not fix it) then take green.

The aim of this quest is to net some fish in the lake, namely Sturgeon. The fish swims all around the lake, at the surface and at depth.

This is how to do this in one minute.

1) Click on the NPC's table which is around the coastline and pick up a pair of Watergliders.
You now have an extra action button.

2) Press the button once, it "equips" your watergliders (you get a buff) and you go very fast, skimming over the water. Quite tricky to control.
The watergliders last a few seconds. When the buff wears off you can press the Extra Action Button again.

3) While you have the Watergliders buff the Extra Action Button has turned into a net - pressing it displays a standard reticle and allows you to cast your net.
Targeting the net over a Sturgeon fish allows you to scoop it up.
But as you are skimming over the lake very fast, targeting is very hard.

4) Go underwater. Now, even with the Watergliders on, you move really slowly and you can take your time to aim your net at the fish, even from below!

If you clicked the wrong item, simply run out of the world quest proximity and reenter, and the buff will reset.

The bug is that, when you click the wrong item, it become irreplaceable buff and you couldnt get the waterglider instead, and hence couldnt complete the quest.

For this to work for me i went out of the world quest area. Then i walked in, not on any mount, clicked the green shoes.

If you are finding yourself a bit bugged with this, do the following:

Leave the area until the WQ disappears from the log
Return and *dismount from your dragon* before choosing waterstrider
select whichever you want

You should get an extra action button to *use* the watershoes (makes you go fast) which then turns into a net while you are going fast.

Hi all

On This WQ You need to Pick up Watergliding Instructor take green one ( blue have some problem with working ). If You pick wrong one and can't make WQ reload will nothelp, You need to Fly out of WQ rane to restart it.

Had the bug... tried everything people suggested, then I noticed there is another NPC on the other side of the lake. That one worked for me!

There's 2 people/tables to get the shoes from. Blue seem useless but the green ones are what you want. I accidentally grabbed the blue ones before realizing the issue and the table at 53, 41 wouldn't let me grab the other shoes. There's a 2nd table across the lake at 54, 39 with green shoes and grabbing those worked and allowed me to do the WQ.

No need to leave the area and come back, personally. :)

Note, if you are a mage (or another class with a movement buff) do not attempt to blink. This caused me to dc.

Here's how I got the world quest to work (after getting the "bug" of it not working):

Walk up to any of the fishing NPCs and click the green shoes. Most likely you'll get the "water walking" extra action button. This is fine.
Mount up and fly away from the world quest area. You don't have to go far.
Fly back to the zone and click the green shoes again. Your extra action button should change to the shoes button instead of the water walking one.
Click the extra action button and complete the world quest.

Pick the GREEN waterglider, NOT BLUE! The blue one is bugged and will not work correctly, locking you out of doing the WQ. If you picked blue, run out of the zone, and fly back in and rechoose green for net ability.

Blue watergliders no longer bugged and make the quest quicker and easier to complete, as they basically let you walk on water and don't have a time limit.

After trying to do this at TURBO speed... I use "/" to slow this quest down to a walk and suddenly it was a snap. GL!

Quest name is a reference to Hydro Thunder, a well-known speed boat racing game in the late 90s. Thunder and Tuskarr are similar in sound when spoken outloud, but especially given how the announcer in the former would drag out the R when saying the name, so it came out as Hydro Thunderrr, which makes it sound even closer to Tuskarr with its double Rs.

Originally an arcade game before being ported to the Dreamcast, N64, and PSX. A PC port was also done but for some reason it was only released in Europe.

Knowing this going in, I expected the quest to rocket me around the lake. I was disappointed when they were just water-walking shoes. I didn't realize you had a choice at first and that the other was the rocket option. I'm guessing the rocket was the original default in beta and during testing players complained how hard it was to control so the walkers were put in as another choice.

Edit: Yay typical "reference comment" downvotes. I hate the constant assumption that everything has to be a reference no matter how far the reach, but that doesn't change the fact that there ARE legitimate references even if you don't get them. And this is one of them.

no instructions so first time chose watergliders from instructor - zoomed around and scored twice, don't know how. Whatever buff I had ended. Went back and got another buff but it seemed to do nothing. Went back again and figured out I was wasting time. Surrender. Quit wasting time on someones' half baked attempt.
