To Unlock A Climber's Calling / Questline: Rock Climbing / Which Knot Was It Again? you need Dragonscale Expedition Renown lvl 6.

Rock Climbing Questline:

A Climber's Calling. Speak with Pathfinder Jeb in the Dragonscale Basecamp.
Basic Cataloging Gear. Use the Expedition Supply Kit to research Cataloging Gear.
Smoke Over the Mountain. Find Pathfinder Yip's plane.
Climb Every Mountain. Grab the Climbing Gear, find a handhold, and climb up the cliff to rescue Pathfinder Yips!

The Quest is broken as of the latest update, the climbing route is missing a hold therfore making it impossible to complete.

First run to the wall and start climbing up by clicking the rocks on the wall. Bear left to go pick the flower on the wall. Climb right again and keep following all the rocks on the wall, turning left. Make sure to go all the way to the dude we are rescuing. There is a rock very close to him. You will be able to click him to rescue him and you get yeeted off in a parachute.

Took me a while to realise I did not get a parachute to toss to him as the quest text mentioned...

Edit: My comment does not take any quest bug into consideration. Sometimes rocks are not there. That is a typical (Jan 2023) issue with the Climbing quests.

This quest was bugged on some phase as of 18/12/2022, it was missing a rock to climb.
Changing phase (WM ON -> WM OFF) did fix it for me.

If you are having trouble getting the handhold you need to appear next to Yips and have a different UI / actionbar skins, try disabling that custom UI. I have ElvUI and was not getting the last handhold next to Yips to appear until I went into ElvUI, unchecked the ActionBars Enable function, and reloaded my UI. I then worked with the standard Blizzard UI to get to Yips and the handhold finally appeared.

Been trying this for about 20 minutes. Fining that turning War Mode On/Off made the rock by the flower appear. Hope this helps

Quest is bugged on Silvermoon-US. I was able to complete the quest by joining custom premade groups until the rock appeared.

It seems the quest needs something to 'click' for it to move forward. Exiting the game does not work, but activating war mode, giving it time, or switching alts might. War mode worked for me. I wonder if people already in war mode are having issues as well?

I couldn't get rid of the climbing toolbar when I gave up, a guildy pointed out that you have a climbing buff, click this off and you get your toolbars back. Really annoying!

This is the trick I used. WM On/off didn't work out for me.
I just joined a raid for Worldboss, so I phased to that group.
The missing holding points appeard and I jumped to the last one by the dude.
Then leave the raid, before throwing him the parachute. Because quest is not finishing while in raid.

If you don't see the rock near the flower, just join custom groups in the group finder until the rock appears. Then climb to the rock, leave the group and collect the flower. Then you can proceed to rescue the goblin and finish the quest.

Being scared of the bug relogged before check—and fulfilled this easily without any problem. May be it fixed?

The wall has rocks to climb. I got all the way to Yip and could not react with him. Grip gave way and down with the parachute.

The second time going up, I detoured to get the flower, and I was able to interact with Yip.

Don't forget the flower. It is a required item at turn-in for the quest. And... Yip will never parachute without it.

Tried reloading, relogging, completely exiting the game and relogging. Tried joining a raid. Tried turning WM on and off. No dice.
What finally did work for me was switching to WM and staying in it until after I completed the quest. Bit of a risk in prime time, but it got the job done.
Seriously, Blizz. Fix this.

Hi all

Small Quest Chain to unlock Climbing WQ Which Knot Was It Again?. To unlock it you need to have Renown lvl 6 with Dragonscale Expedition "Expedition Climbers".

ON LAST QUEST YOU NEED TO BE WAR MODE ON !

1. A Climber's Calling - Optional Quest. When You will reach Renown lvl 6, Doc Nanners monkey will spawn to give you quest to speak with Pathfinder Jeb /way 47.32 83.36
2. Basic Climbing Gear - Press on Expedition Supply Kit is next to npc and learn skill Climbing Gear ( after this quest chain is good to learn all skills from climbing if you have Dragon Isles Supplies ).
3. Smoke Over the Mountain - Go to see Rocky Dustbeard /way #2022 62.39 50.47
4. Climb Every Mountain - First pick up Climbing Gear then go climb /way 63.30 50.16, then use Handhold to start climbing, First go to left up left side to pick up Clinging Gustbloom Sample ( big flower ) then go more up to rescue Pathfinder Yips.

Problem with this Chast chain is that Climb Every Mountain You need to do so far on WM ON ( on WM OFF Handhold next to rescue Pathfinder Yips is missing and you can't rescue O_o ). After this WQ You will reach Which Knot Was It Again? and You will be able to do Climbing WQ ( on them is even worst xD some of them working on WM OFF some of them WM ON and some of them You need to be in party O_O )

As off the 13th March 2023 this quest can still bug.
I read the comments below and the fix that worked for me was joining a group via the LFG for open world party.
As soon as I joined the missing handhold spawned so I left the party and climbed up and got the quest done.

Worked for me May 31, 2023. I had to climb up with the rocks about half way, then click on a giant flower, then using the rocks up to the NPC and click on him. It wouldn't work until I clicked on the giant flower half ways up, then it completed.

As of 11/05/2023 this bug is still present. Some of the rocks are phased out and I can not see them, making it impossible to complete this quest.

I tried joining a LFG group through dungeon finder because other comments said it might work. Some of the rocks that I haven't seen appeared. and then others disappeared and I was stuck on the ledge!
