My favorite memory to this day remains the tale of how I acquired Zul'thraze the Lasher. This was waaay back in vanilla and I was still leveling my first/main toon, a night elf warrior. At the time he was only level 40 or so, a bunch of my friends had toons that were already a couple levels higher and better geared, they were trying to help me get caught up. Plus I hadn't been in any of the big instanced areas yet, this was my first. As an aside, I was on the lookout for a good dps weapon...yes, I was playing a dps warrior back then, just as I do today (though I've finally picked up tanking as an off spec.) Nowadays dps warriors are a viable, but back then if you were a warrior you were expected to tank.Anyway, during the start of the run I kept hearing about this epic weapon that dropped in two parts, when combined became Sul'thraze the Lasher. But they quickly set me straight, that the drop rate was so low I'd be lucky to ever see just one of the pieces. So here we go on my very first ZF run. We get to Antu'sul, lo and behold he drops Sang'thraze the Deflector. I immediately asked what to do and was told to just loot it, everyone else had better equipment already. I got a hearty round of congratulations on my good luck, plus a few comments that was too bad the other half wasn't likely to drop.On we went until we got to the bonus boss, Chief Ukorz Sandscalp. We beat him and what do you know, Jang'thraze the Protector drops! I'll never forget the commotion, the other players who were helping me through my first big instance just couldn't believe my luck...both pieces dropped on my very first run! I was told how many times they'd run this place grinding out gear, and that just one other player in the guild had gotten both pieces.Sul'thraze the Lasher was my main weapon from then on, until well into Burning Crusade when something better dropped and I (reluctantly) retired the epic two-hander to my bank...I just couldn't bring myself to sell it. The sword stayed there for a bit, until a month or so later when I purchased the Ruby Shades. I got in the habit of putting on the shades whenever I was just slumming around in Shattrath or one of the Alliance capital cities, when I got the idea of putting Sul'thraze back in my bag and equipping that as well.To this day, whenever I'm not out actively questing, I still equip Sul'thraze the Lasher. A couple of my guildies have even commented on this, that "without fail" if they check my character's equipment while I'm offline, he'll have this weapon equipped. I still think it's one of the best looking items in the game, reminds me of Stormbringer every time I see it, and I'm always reminded of just how lucky I was to have both pieces drop on my very first run with my good friends.
It's difficult to select a favorite moment out of so any of them, but here goes...I don't know what made me decide to go to Stormwind on my then level 67 BE hunter, I think it had something to do with the highest drop-rate of wool being in the SW dungeon, and wanting to fish up old Ironjaw and get The Fishing diplomat achievement at the same time. Anyways I headed up to SW armed with baby spice powder :p, I knew I was gonna die, with the guards and other players being 80. I went up near the gates of SW and used baby spice powder on myself, mounted up and ran inside the gates. I did manage to rush past the guards at the gate, before the ones near the statue killed me. Long story short I ended up dying thrice, and hey that's not too bad considering that I was in a level 11 cloth robe "lucky robe for some reason which I have long forgotten", and other reason being I didn't wanted to spend too much on repairs, the miser that I am. But I got my fishing diplomat and SW stockade achieve that day (farmed lots of wool cloth =). Next day was going to be the journey to IF to fish up old Ironjaw, needless to say I died a few times getting to IF, but I got to use the tram. I remember fishing in IF in the shadows with my heart in my throat, fearing that any moment now some alliance was going to find me on my alliance heavy server and kill me, but luckily no one found me. I had my track humanoids on. And I fished up old Ironjaw in roughly half an hour! No one must have hearthed out faster than I did that day. =P I felt so proud of myself going in there when I was just a noob, and getting those achieves. Still have Old Ironjaw in my bank, right next to Old Snappy.Happy Anniversary Wowhead, keep up the good work.
Well its got to be the Savory Devight Delight, walking around the world back then in vanila was so new for me, it was so boring since i didnt know anything and just random doing stuff, finding a Big Tauren on my explore fishing on the shore of silverpine forest got my eyes from the road:so i walking to him and ask him what he doing, he told me he fishing, i asked him why ?he said to lvl up is fishing, talking with him got to a point that he gave me my first inv to the best horde guild on that server back then and a present, he said i am cooking something for you, just give me a sec, so i waited like a kid that waiting to open is first present, he gave me the strange looking fish, i asked him what to do with it, he sayd to eat it and see, ok, so i eat this fish, and WOW im a Ninja ? WTF i sayd, and from this point, its made me want to get everything on game that collecteble, and tooday, after long 6+ years, i got allmost every pet, mount, title,Transform item that can be in game, and from this day im the happyst player ever :)
My best memory has to be the Ghouls event prior to Wotlk. It was bringing chaos everywhere. I had loads of fun in Everlook, once in Ironforge everybody was ghouls, there was nothing left.
My favorite moment in WoW was when I was invited to my brother-in-law's guild. This was just about month before Karazhan was old news. They where in desperate need of a healer for their small guild and my brother-in-law asked me if I wanted to try and heal it. I only did pvp and had no clue about "team work" since the battle group I was in never showed it. I agreed to try healing Karazhan because the que was taking longer then 20 minutes. I was in full Merciless Gladiator gear. I was completely ignorant to pvp but the guild was kind enough to teach me as we went along. My goodness, I had never met people so patient with me in my life. And after massive wipes they all and I mean all kept their cool, and their humor too. They made me see pve in a whole different light. After seeing the amount of team work. People helping each other, with suggestions on their gear, talents, ect. (Something I was not used to at all in pvp) The greatest feeling went through me after killing my first boss and hearing everyone in the guild being so proud of each other was truly epic. I had found a new love, pve, and this guild that allowed me to be a part of them for a little over a year. <B O T H> Though it is no longer an active guild I still treasure everything I learned from you guys. *Boink*
Probably my favorite moment was the first time I walked into Stormwind as a little level 9 human. Having played tons of Warcraft 2, seeing those statues of the heroes of the second war really brought home for me how epic this game was going to be.
My favorite memory is when my friends and I tried hiding in Stormwind Harbor on our Horde toons at lv 60. We made it their but the guards kept killing us and then a 85 found us and kept killing us but it was fun rearguards.
One of my favourite moments in WOW was quite recently when my guild got the Thats a lot of bait achiev. We had made a ingame fishing contest hoping to spur ppl on towards the achiev. In order for it to be fair we had ppl fish the three types of fish nessescary for the recepie, and the fish was counted buy an officer and put in guildbank for later use. It was awsome! We had over 3K fish entered into the competition! And some ppl thought it would take weeks to get the achiev... We were already on a little over 7K fish when the competiotion started, so it all went extremely well! By raidtime that night we had over 70 magnifique seafood feasts at our disposal. Just goes to show what ppl can do when they pull together... One of the things i love best about WOW apart from the gaming itself...the soscial aspect. And btw..i came in third place, won 250gold for fishing up over 500 fish hehe. :)
my favorite moment in wow is every time when i feel myself epic ...... almost like my faction leader
Hmmmm....my favorite memory would have to be when I first hit level 60 on my mage back in classic. I remember being too lazy to go to winterspring and quest, so I was grinding silithids at Hive Regal in Silithus. If not that, then whenever I would hang with out guildies in Cenarion Hold and kill Horde. I remember there was one spot you could stand in and the guards wouldn't attack you....good times. And yes, I really liked Silithus. I don't know why.
I'm probably forgetting something even more awesome but, right before 4.1, I panicked because I thought Mojo might be removed before I could get him. I grabbed a friend and we went through, stick collecting. We ended up with 18. On the 15th stick, I got my Mojo and offered the guildie with me the other three sticks. She wasn't much of a collector but, hey, why not, since we're here. Stick #16, her first ever, spawned another Mojo. I congratulated her, stunned, and she went, "Was that it? O.o." Not one to waste the last two, she used the 17th. Third Mojo. Three sticks, three Mojos. It just reminded me that, although we go to all the trouble to record drop rates, in the end, a 10% chance doesn't mean you'll get it on the 10th try. Also, because the other contest page mentioned something about what excites you most about 4.2, it's the opportunity to get back into the swing of things. I had to put WoW on hold a bit recently for academics (real life comes first) and a new patch is a bit of an equalizer. Sure, I'm vastly undergeared, but at least I'm not the only one going shopping now.
