My favorite memory has to be when all the stuff finally got downloaded and I got to make my first char, and had to learn how to play. Its like you dont have to worry about raids, gold, and gear its just you learning to play.
My favorite moment is when I started in WoW stress test. discovering the world, classes, spells and professions.... It was really a great moment for me.
The first ever stepping into Molten Core, farming for my hunters epic quest starter. The mobs, the strategies, the teamwork and the overall epic-ness of the dungeon.Nothing will probably ever come close to that.
Congratulations wowhead with the 5th year and hopefully many more to come <3Heh, a simple 25man raid on Festergut in WOTLK where he beserked and the second he did I popped dispersion, everyone on ventrilo were already going "aww @#$% we lost again" then when 3 out of the 6 seconds were gone they could see that the DoTs that were left on Festergut were pulling down his HP and everyone started cheering like crazy and the second I get out of my dispersion, Festergut falls to the ground. That was the first time we killed him. This was the best memory because it gave such an intense feeling and the joy both me and my guild mates felt when it happened.
My favourite memory and one of my first was when i was levelling my first toon, my friend wanted to boost me through Scarlet Monestry. Being a complete newbie to it all, on the way there i died multiple times and complained how the mobs were just after me and not them. When i eventually arrived, i was in a mild panic as people were running up through the instance. I shouted on the party chat 'QUICK HURRY, there's loads of people just arrived and they're going to kill everything before we get a chance'. Obviously this would have been my first instance ever. It was met with alot of laughs and the guild i was in with them, laughed it off too. It's my fondest memory of the game.
Even though I've been playing WoW since the beginning (2006?), and there have been many good times, I'd have to say my best memory is one that happened pretty recently. My guild Quietus, has always been a small guild, but the people in it are true friends that we all can rely on, and since Cata xpac, we now finally have the opportunity to do everything that the big guilds can do, just on a smaller scale with the 10 man raids, which works out perfectly for us. So, my best memory is when we took down Cho'gall, and it will be topped this weekend when we take down Nefarion, on the last opportunity to down him pre nerf! Go QUIETUS!
My favorite moment in WoW was back in the Blackrock Mountain when i was still leveling...I would have found memories of constantly getting groups together, Mind controlling people into lava, and enjoying the fun of doing the ring of law. On our first group that we actually finished BRD we saw Ironfoe drop. I won the mace and everyone laughed that a PRIEST won the mace xD. I would constantly go into BRD ever since and always take out my Ironfoe and smack the last boss to death with it. The joy of looking for people on the server to do BRD was always a constant enjoyment when i was playing.
My most memorable memory (haha) is not nearly as epic in proportions as some of the end game raiders or as nerve-wrecking or gut-wrenching as some of the epic quests chains or the hardcore PvP'ers. But I think to a certain extent it'll be one of the most prized memories of my life that'll look back on when I'm older (geekdom). I joined WoW on March 2005 which was 6 years ago, it's been a long trip since then. My family is oriental and doesn't speak English or know American culture that well and we established our internet connection halfway in 2003 6 months after the actual computer, but it was the slow, painful, annoying, loud AOL with the dial up dying goose/raptor noise that ate a phone line and prevented calls. The internet was down most of March and some of April in 2005 for some reason and I did not realize WoW was an online subscription game either. Boy was my family shocked at the fact we had to pay 15$ a month for a game, they weren't very pleased and didn't initially like the idea (they still don't) but they eventually gave in and decided to subscribe. Except I was unable to play anyway. So what I did in my spare time aside from any sort of hard tedious homework a 5th grader would have is read the manual. Each and every read was a different and interesting experience for me. I read that manual and watched the cinematic for Vanilla at least 150 times, it made the wait for the game so much sweeter.. I don't know many people who can say that they did that. I always loved the Warcraft lore, it was very expansive and mysterious since there were so many unanswered questions. I watched my cousin play Warcraft III and its expansion when I was younger and it just seemed so cool and awesome, just like any game would to a 5 year old. Since then I've been hooked since. But back to April of 2005. When I made my first Orc Hunter, since I loved the orc race in WC3 so much, I paid closely attention to the cinematic and when I first saw the Valley of Trials I couldn't believe what I was doing. I was going to be a great warrior and affect the world of Azeroth, it took me a few minutes to take it all in. And the tutorials were rather unnecessary since I memorized the basic mechanics well enough from simply the manual.TL;DR: I read/watched the manual/cinematic hundred or so times before I was able to start the game (due to extraneous circumstances) and when I made my first orc the scenery and the very sight of the HUD took my breath away.
A very memorable recent experience occurred a few months ago, when I was fortunate enough to loot the second of two Bindings of the Windseeker. That happened on about my 22nd solo clear of The Molten Core, and allowed me to obtain Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker -- my first Legendary weapon. A happy day!
My fondest memory would be the first time when bunch of gold and silver arrived at my mailbox after bunch of my Deadly Blunderbuss sold on AH sold. After a month or so, I have enough gold to buy 2 epic mounts while most of my friends and guildmates were still struggling to buy their regular mount. After 5 years and hundreds of thousands of gold later, AH is still one of my favorite hangout.
Favorite wow memory is a reminder of how terrible I was when I started playing, a few months before naxx came out. After a week of frustration at how terrible my character (30 something druid) seemed, I was ready to quit when a friend logged on my account and asked me how long my armor had all been broken. I really hadn't noticed the little red icons at the side of the screen and had been pretty much dying to every quest mob I tried to kill. Of course being an awful player at the time hadn't helped either.
my favorite memory from WoW would have to be clearing naxx every week with my guild. I remember it because it was simple fun raiding. we didn't care much if we wiped, because it was just fun for us.
My favorite wow moment was in vanilla wow. I was a lowly gnome warlock traveling thrugh badlands at lvl 45 or so. While on my mount I noticed a orc warrior following behind me, he was lvl 60. At the time I was part of daggerspine pvp and knew full well what the orc wanted. So As I ran he slowly crept up on me being 40% faster on his epic mount. On my lock I am a gnomish engineer and made full use of my engineering gadgets, at least I did when they had fun uses like in pre bc content. I went around a rock and charged my gnomish death ray and as he came around the rock I let him have a blast from it. The gnomish death ray converted 3/4ths of my health into 3x the damage. I hit him and he dropped to 1/4th his health. He ended up killing me but once i rezed i got up on a rock took aim at him and charged my death ray again. I guess the first shot scared him being a lvl 45 damaged him that badly, because he turned tail and ran from me. I laughed so hard for hours. I miss being able to use engineering gadgets with such an outcome.
My favorite (and sad) moment was seeing for the 1st time Arthas dying... :(
My favourite memory has to be when, on a Saturday (non-raid) night, after a week of unsuccessful attempts at Archimonde, my GM asked the guild if the non-incompetent people online wanted to go attempt Archi, going for a 'less-is-more' type of thing. So, 4-5 attempts later, Archimonde goes down, guild first attempt, with 17 people in the raid. Was awesome, to say the least!
My favorite moment in WoW was pvping on my shadow priest for 15 hours a day with instant queues back in vanilla wow.
