I'd love if blood elves could have heterochromia. Because then my hunter can have one blue eye and one golden eye.
Hopefully bilzz realizes what a faux pas it would be to just implement this for Horde and not give Void Elves the option to have human-looking skin tones at the same time, even if other allied races don't get anything new.But I don't think this is going to be quite as big a deal as people think it is, aside from maybe on RP servers. Like, what, you think the entire Alliance playerbase is gonna swap factions just because blood elves can have blue eyes now? A bit of an overreaction don't you think? People are gonna complain, sure, but there's in no way gonna be some kind of exodus. Especially when, lorewise, most of the (independent faction of) High Elves left are still on the Alliance....Also, on the topic of the actual contents of the post, I don't really see all that much of a difference in some of these color options. Mostly the green ones or what I assume is supposed to be a "blind" option, the rest feel pretty samey.
that's propapply all npc only use
Why is everyone assuming that something datamined will be implemented? This isn't proof of anything. Blood Elves already have Blue Eyes in the current game files, but aren't implemented. Both sides need to calm down. This is alpha datamining.
Ok, I'm gonna have to ask everyone to STOP the thinly veiled racist jokes, remarks, and passive/aggressive insinuations. Also STOP at once this derailing discussion on what is a race vs a genus or whatever. Stick to the topic. Now that I got that out of the way, here's my take on this:First off, Dark-skinned blood elves are nothing new. One of the skin options for demon hunter blood elves is a pretty dark shade of red.Secondly, all thalassian elves (What we call High/Blood/Void/Fel Elves) descend from the darnassian elves (What we call Night Elves, and Nightborne) and the darnassian elves have a wide variety of skin tones, that range from the lightest shade of purple, to pretty dark ones as well. Therefore, it makes sense that blood elves, and for that matter any other race, has the same variety in skin shade. Different regions tend to develop different traits in everyone. This is not a lore contradiction, simply an engine limitation that is finally being overcome. All the humans that lived in Uldum? Yeah, makes sense they'd have a more arabic complexion in the lore, yet in the game they were all caucasian, because the skin tone just wasn't implemented when this game was released well over 20+ years ago.Just because its not in the game, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Goldshire has a population of 5000 people in the lore, and is a thriving metropolis currently ranked as the second largest city of the kingdom of stormwind. In the game, due to engine limitations and memory space, as well as scaling, its just 4 small buildings with at best 20 people. Use your imagination. Just because dark skinned humans never showed up IN THE GAME before, doesn't mean they don't exist. The original Star Wars trilogy had exactly one black man in the cast. Was he the only black man in the galaxy? Nope, Its just that the casting was different in the 70s. Its also why we never saw asians either, but those exist as well.Lastly, for those saying that it makes no sense that "high elves" would join the horde. They haven't.Remember two key points:Number 1: Unlike the orcs, blood elves weren't COMPLETELY corrupted by the fel when they followed the teachings of Kael'thas. This is why only their eyes turned green. Unlike the orcs whose entire body turned green due to the massive usage of both fel magic and demon blood in their entire culture.Number 2: The Sunwell was cleansed and infused with the ligth in Burning Crusade, which in-story was an event that took place nearly 10 years ago if not longer. During the questline of Quel'delar, Lady Liadrin specifically says that the blood elves are on their way to recovery, not just of their fel corruption, but to their arcane adiction altogether. Therefore, it makes sense that over time, either some elves have managed to cleanse themselves of the fel taint (And thus, regain their original non-green eye colors) or otherwise, newer generations of blood elves no longer have it.
This is actually MISSING some eye colors in the files. There were a purple and Bolvar orange eye color as well.
The new eye colors are nice but I wish they would give us a tease about any new potential hairstyles and news about whether or not the Allied Races will be getting any new customizations.
Ouch, sorry alliance players. I dunno who asked for Void Elves but...I guess that's your elf.
This is a nice start, but I hope this is not it.New skin tones and eye colors are nice and all, but I was expecting something more. Jewelry, new hair styles, as well as new details like scars, tattoos etc. Then again, this is the very first alpha build, so with any luck, there will be more on the way. Because at the moment, none of these are useful to me at all.I main a blood elf death knight, and my skin tone is one of the 3 undead-exclusive ones and I have no intention of changing it, and the eyes, well, they wont show due to the DK's natural eye glow which cannot be turned off.So again, I hope there's more customization options down the line. More hair styles, hair colors, jewelry, tattoos, scars, and maybe even new face and body options too.
Guys, I'm gonna have to start deleting comments and issuing 24 Hour suspensions if this continues.STOP.DERAILING.THE.THREAD.This is a thread about blood elven customization options. Stick to the topic. This discussion of real life races ends NOW.
it's 2020 and PoC still needs to explain why they should exist in a space because they are made to jump through the hoops of an already fluid and ret-conned lore (the same lore that had devi exist in the universe in the first place)......... and yet no one really questioned the lore on as to why the kul tirans exclusively got the thicc gene for some reason. i have to laugh.
These aren't high-elves. These are blood elves with blue eyes because the Sunwell is half light and half arcane now. If Blood elves can have gold eyes it makes sense for them to have blue >.>

Ion himself described the Blood Elf fantasy as the "fair skinned elf" fantasy. So is he wrong now, or was he wrong when he said the Horde was waiting for you?
