I was ok with the idea of buying a lv90, but the fact that you can get straight to 600 with professions too I think is a bit unfair. I suppose it has it's advantages too though
I'd just like to add in... I've met a crap load of 90's who I have it on good authority they leveled the whole way to 90 and they STILL don't know how to play their class. You see, the problem here is that the proving grounds thing needs to be updated to actually be a "this is how to play", which as I understand is incoming. But i've known bad players at ALL levels of this game, during ALL expansions, from day 1, to now. and yes, I was pretty damn bad when I started out. So bad that I made a human mage, and had leather working/skinning because it was (may still be) the first profession trainers you run in to on the way to Goldshire. So terrible in fact that I didn't know about talents until much later. So terrible that when I did learn about talents I had points in all 3 trees. So terrible that I was still wearing the starter gear at lvl 12 because I couldn't figure out how to equip stuff. So thats the classic experience people want again. When I started playing WoW, the original max had just come out, AQ was still a pretty damn important thing. The Scourge Invasion was insane!.But I was an idiot. I am less of an idiot now :D
Hooray, now I don't have to do the same boring grind an eleventh time,THANKS BLIZZARD
What most people here fail to understand (since they haven't leveled an actual alt since FOREVER), is that the actual reworked azeroth is NOT the problem. Quests there are really nice and entertaining, and you can always take one of like 4-5 different zones through which you want to level at any given time. HOWEVER, as soon as you hit outland, you have pretty much no fcking choice over what you'll be doing, and end up doing THE EXACT SAME QUESTS on every damn alt.It would be better if lvl 90 boost could be used only on lvl60+ characters, BUT I think most people would save it for 60+ anyway, just to enjoy azeroth and then skip the boring content, while also boosting all their professions... well, at least I hope cooking, fishing and archeology get boosts as well, not just first aid.Even though I still think CHEAPER character transfers would be way better for old players than boost to 90, I'll take what I'm given at this point. Starting at new realm with just one character ported over (because it costs a fortune) is hard enough.
(Remember as you read this, it is my opinion)So if you can get a toon from lvl 1 to lvl 90, with a click of a button, what is the purpose of purchasing all the expansions between the Battle Chest and Mist if people won't be going back and using any of the content in them anyway? I would have to agree with some of the other post that blizz should make you at least level to say 60 or 70. (Considering with all the BOA gear bonuses and guild bonuses, people now basically can jump entire sections of the game because they level so fast and can be to lvl 60 or 70 in a couple of days if not hours, depending on the player.) That way new players have a feel of the game and at least can play their toons with some sort of ability. This will be a cluster f*** just like all the other expansions where 25 to 50 lvl 90's will be gathered around waiting for a respawn of something that has to be killed, so that they can finish a quest to move on to the next group of 25 to 50 people waiting to kill whatever and so on and so on, and people will rush thru it in a couple of days or say a week to be the "Realm First" and then all the chats will be filled with when is Blizz going to come out with the next expansion. Considering the only way that this expansion is going to reel in the super fast levelers is to make kills worth only 10 experience and make the amount to level be 100 million experienceThe content and lore of the game (in my opinion) is being lost by providing an instant lvl 90. But as in everything in this world, the corporate bottom line and profits are all that matter anymore. Because instant gratification is so much better than having to work for something that you can take pride in saying that you accomplished. Gee sort of like welfare, you don't have to work for anything just enjoy all the benefits for freeMay you be blessed with a thousand fertile camels
Why give people a free level 90? honestly, it sounds like a good idea in part because then new players can jump right into new content, but honestly what about the other 90% of the game that they MISSED ENTIRELY. maybe if they made it only for lvl 60+ i could understand... because as it stands right now it takes what, a month maybe two tops to go 1-90 right now... SO difficult... i figured @#$% like this was gonna happen once activision takes over...
Ok, everyone is going a little crazy over this whole 90 thing. When I stop and look at this i see both sides arguments have good points. For me its not a big deal if people buy a 90 as long as the price of the 90 goes up each time, and they prevent 90s that are being bought from being transferred from accounts.
Ok. So just to through 2 cents in the lake. After reading many posts on different sites, I have come to a personal conclusion that agrees with what was said at Blizzcon. One of the best parts of the game is playing together. Leveling a new toon now days is a daunting and lonely task even for a veteran heirloomed out player. The exception is when you do it with a family member or guildy, but even then, when real life catches up with one of you and you have to decide to wait on the other person or continue on your own (i.e. lonely time). I have played the game since B.C. with occasional life break. Back in B.C. parties and raids were really scary because people would(might) yell at you for not knowing everything about something you had never experienced. For me the best times came when I could spend more time with my friends (Real Life or Guild) because I could actually gear through dungeon finder. New features like Dungeon finder helped me to learn what to do and also to share what I learned with other people in a way to foster a better experience for everyone. If you grew up with vanilla awesomeness in your veins I salute you. Cherish those memories, but I agree with Blizzard on this. Short of releasing a totally new game, this option seems to be best way for new and old players alike to move forward in the World together. People are only noobs until you (veterans) care enough to teach them and help them become accomplished players. Building friendship and fun times for both of you. There will always be jerks, trolls, ninja's, and the like, but the friends you can make through sharing your time with new players will make up for it. Anyone I have ever helped that ask me how to repay me, I told them to pass the favor and make more friends and better players out of the next generation of mmo players. Peace and have fun : )

From the look of the new items in the PTR, I'd think it's easy to determine what is what for which classes and specs.. but for reference sake..
stop crying .......... some people have lives and cant play 24/7. let go of the past the old days of wow are gone. if you dont like the ideal of free or even buying 90s no1 says u gotta get 1 so stop crying about it ur little hissy fits arent goin change a thing.i think the free 90 is well earned i been playing wow off and on since "04" i been through that walk til 40 to unlock mounts then lvling 40+ just to get the gold for the riding, going to 70 just to fly. only to watch blizzard drop riding prices n lvl requirements to ride. if you dont like the change either quit or deal with it crying doesnt help
On the subject of "paying" for an extra instant level 90, I think people may have got the wrong impression from the way Blizz are testing this process out. I suspect the in-shop method is just the way they are testing out the mechanisms they hope to use once WoD launches and this is not the intended process /capability for live realms. I've had long discussions with guildies about the process as its being tested on PTR and I get the impression this is just a way for Blizz to check out the process for "promoting" your chosen character within the PTR setup they have working. I think once the process goes live with WoD the character boost selection will be a page on your account management similar to the migration/faction change/race change pages that exist there currently- not as an in-game option you can "buy" in the way its being used on PTR. Remember Blizz have said it will be for 1 character - with NO mention of options to buy the process for further alts - like the way you used to have to assign RaF mounts to 1 character with no option to get the mount for others. In addition its clearly being "purchased " with PTR currency - which doesn't have any relation to either in-game currencies or real world currencies. As far as i can see this is just blizz testing the boost process and people "adding 2 and 2 and getting 5" - namely reading more than is intended into what Blizz are doing. As i said before - this is only my personal opinion but time will tell.
483 seems weak for an INSTANT 90? I leveled every char of mine from scratch, even deleted the "free 80" from Scroll of Res because it seemed cheap and unenjoyable. My DK, which starts partially leveled, is now my first 90 (after taking Paladin, Priest and Hunter to 87, 87 and 86 respectively) and does not even have NEAR 483 from questing. I'm in the low 400's... like 424 or so. To think some kid can instantly pop out a 90 with better gear than I earned over weeks of playing is really disturbing. You want a 90? Naked. Use the gold from the characters you EARNED levels in to buy the greens to dress it. Then EARN your gear. The game is already terribly easy and it may not be popular, but I enjoy the process of actually earning gear. It feels much more worthwhile.
