In most MMOs I play a melee class. I love doing massive damage and wearing awesome looking armor, but recently I've been enjoying a mage that I made. Something about killing from afar is pretty fun. I hate managing mana but I love the damage and look of the spells. Maybe it's because I always play a warrior type character and I'm getting tired of the same ol' class.
I sway towards healers or caster dps...occasionally a 1h shield set up. I cringe at melee dps.
I am usually the rouge or stealthy class.
Played skyrim and loved it finshed it twice in the first month i usualy play spell casters for MMO's but i found in skyrim i really loved going invisible and destroying from the shadows :P
I tend to play tanks since I love the fact that I am the pivotal spot in setting the pace of a fight. I enjoy the fact that if you fail then almost every time the fight will fail. So much rests on my shoulder to make the right moves and use my skill to stay alive and hold the agro on my self. It gets me pumped to see what they have to bring in the next fight and what the next challenge is.
While my mindset always leans towards healers or other support roles, they're hard to level up on their own, so I always end up playing the ranger/hunter type class. In general anything that can stand way far away from the combat and can run easily.
Rogues
Watched Mike B.s video on this a few days ago, looks interesting. Generally i prefer archer type classes but if they aren't available i go with a melee class.
When I play a RPG, I generally play as either or a caster or a rogue or even a ranger (hunter), the former and the last more frequently than the second mentioned. The reasoning behind this is because I prefer to burn down enemies from afar with powerful magic before they can come close enough to harming me. The same can be said for the rogue class, which allows me to sneak about and deliver a flurry of quick blows to my opponent before they realize what is going on and it usually results and me leaving the fight unscathed. And lastly, I enjoy playing the ranger class because I am a fan of archery both in game and outside of, and Archery is one of my hobbies. Another thing about rangers is generally you are allowed to have a companion, or pet, that will aid you in combat and provide a distraction for the player so that you can burn them down from afar with a rain of arrows. I can't get into a plate wearing class, or barbarian stype class wielding heavy 2h weapons as it isn't a preferred play style but if it is necessary and depends on the type of game that I can become more comfortable with it if it is the only play option in the game. Zelda is a fine example of such, where the preferred weapon in the game is sword but it's a bit more than hack and slash and has puzzles the player must complete to advance so there's a bit more logic required than just furiously mashing buttons to devastate your opponents.
I tend to play 'spellsword' type classes. It suits my need to stab things until they die from it -and- burn things until they die from -that- too. Is nice.
I like playing more of a warmage or a rouge/mage hybrid.
i like all classes but i switch off between nuking things with magic from a distance and being sneaky back stabby.
I always love the Wizard type class, specially if you can deal large ammounts of Area Damage.
