Since the Patch 7.3.5 change to use personal loot rules in leveling dungeons, we’ve heard a lot of feedback from Transmog hunters concerned about how this has affected the ability to collect appearances from older content. We hear you, and agree it’s a problem, so we’ve been working on a more robust solution for Battle for Azeroth.

Once these updates are implemented, entering a dungeon or raid that is trivial for you (i.e.: your character is 10 or more levels higher than the dungeon or raid’s intended level) will activate a “legacy loot mode.” That loot mode will work like this:

The number of items dropped by bosses will be the same as it would have been if you were in a full party. So if you’re in a 5-player dungeon, you’ll get 5 players’ worth of loot.
For raids with a flexible raid size (such as Raid Finder), this will act as though there were 20 players in the raid.
All items on the loot table will have a chance to drop, not just the ones that are designated for your spec.
If you have multiple players in the group, the loot will be split among those players, but be tradeable. For example, if you’re clearing with one other player and kill a boss that should drop 4 items, you’ll each be able to pick up two items and trade them between each other if you like.

While the personal loot change was a key part of what allowed us to expand leveling dungeons to encompass a wider range of levels, and we’re happy with it in that environment, we recognize that it’s not a great experience for those who enjoy clearing older content for transmog, and hope that these changes will make that more enjoyable once they’re complete.

Argus missions that award Blood of Sargeras now cost 600 more Order Hall Resources. This will not be correctly reflected in the Legion Companion App until its next version update.

Developers' notes: Completing these missions with bonus rewards previously returned more Order Hall Resources than they cost. Rather than reduce their yield, we've increased the cost of the missions so that players with ample Order Hall Resources can convert them to tradeskill materials.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Order Hall missions are currently the reigning method for creating new gold. By slowing down this method (I know people around here say they have other methods but I still believe the blood>ohr>gold method was by far the most efficient in the game by far) they are making an attempt to limit the amount of available gold in the game.

This method is especially effective since it only affects people who are "abusing" the system. People who just play their characters won't be affected as much since the amount of gold missions and their rewards aren't nerfed.

For dedicated goblins it won't matter. Even if this method is slower you'll still find ways to make it work, since gold missions are still by far the best way to create new gold. But I believe this method was used by a much wider range of players, and that for many of them it will just mean much less gold overall.

With some interesting conversation in the comment section, I thought this would be worthy of its own post for the community. So what are your thoughts? There are a lot of gray areas that I think are person by person discretion.

I find sniping to be one of the biggest gray areas. Do you feel a little guilt when you pick up an excellent snipe when it's clearly someone faction swapping items? What about when they message you about it? Personally if I'm messaged I'm inclined to give it back but if they're rude about it I ignore them.

Another one I've dealt with lately has been handling competition being rude/crazy. I had this random guy message me these crazy stories of how he was a sick grandpa one week, then a 7 year old girl the next and I was a horrible person for undercutting their panther mounts etc. The stories just got worse and he'd start calling me out in trade then hopping on alts and agreeing with himself. I handled it by making more mounts and undercutting every chance I could, also making a cancel scan just for his items and putting him and all his alts on ignore to piss him off. Was it mean? Yea totally, panthers make up a very small portion of my profits too, but do I feel bad? Not one bit.

I think when there is a market with actual monetary gain (bnet funds) but with very few rules and endless income possibilities you're going to find a ton of good and bad to try and get ahead. Personally I'm okay staying in the gray ethically.

tldr; as long as it's within the rules, ethics are personally based./u/Squonkster expands on this pointLike most others have stated, I'm glad to return someone's items in exchange for the gold I underpaid if they're nice about it. Everyone makes mistakes, and I’ve done stupid stuff as well like pricing a stack of Sumptuous Fur at the price of one piece. I just had to shrug my shoulders and remember not to post so quickly. And a year or so ago after a new patch the mail system was messed up where auto-fill friend names didn’t add the server extension. I intended to send a Sky Golem to my bank alt on a joined realm, but it got mailed to some character I didn’t know existed. Thankfully he was nice enough to return it after I explained the error so I gave him a couple thousand gold for his honesty. I try to act the same when I can.

But I don’t see why I should go out of the way to help those that seem to willingly throw away tons of gold, especially if they’re doing so repeatedly. Recently someone’s been posting a few of the Darkmoon Faire turn-in items such as Ornate Weapon and Monstrous Egg for 1g each. They posted 2 at that price even though there were multiple other auctions of those items at hundreds of gold each. So I didn’t feel any guilt about buying them and reselling, especially when a few hours later they posted more of the same items at the same price./u/F0reverlad shares an anecdote from Burning CrusadeBack during Burning Crusade, I purchased a Healing Potion injector off of the Auction House. Wasn't looking for a great deal, I just wanted to save bag space, so I bought it for the regular price.

Turned out Blizzard had recently changed these to be stackable to 20, instead of being a single, 20-charge item. In other words, I got stuck buying 1 single use potion for the price of 20 injectors. That day I took up engineering, levelled it up, farmed the injector recipe (from Netherstorm, IIRC) and started selling individual injectors at 1/20th the price to ensure that scammer didn't make another copper.

Sure enough, people started whispering me, demanding their money back because I was scamming them. They thought they were getting an amazing deal then believed I was being dishonest. I was selling these for 1/20th the price of 20 stack. I wasn't getting rich or trying to fool anyone. Regardless of how it worked out for me that day, I never once played the auction house at the expense of another user, and I never will.

Have you ever sent something back or been asked to send something back, what did you do?Moving functionality from TSM3 to TSM4 is a big part of the massive project that is TSM4. Importing and exporting of groups and operations are features used by many of our users on a daily basis. There are many enhancements planned for the export feature in TSM4, and we’ve made great progress towards implementing our vision for an awesome export feature. With this latest update, we’ve implemented the brand new TSM4 export UI which makes it as easy as possible to export groups and operations. This is a feature which we will continue to build on and improve as we get closer to the release of TSM4.

Settings and UI Improvements
Many pieces of TSM4 are still in TSM3 placeholder mode. In this update, we’ve removed the TSM3 placeholder settings and replaced them with the new, fully-implemented TSM4 equivalent. With the various settings there are to configure TSM, we’ve had a real good look at our settings window and completely reorganized the settings tab. Navigating to find the setting you’re looking for might take some getting used to, but should feel far more intuitive.

Advanced Shopping Searches
The shopping advanced item search UI was in an interesting situation where it was inheriting the TSM4 looks, but it hadn’t actually been fully finished from a UI perspective. With this new update it’s been rewritten and you’ll see that everything looks much better and aligns with the overall look and feel of TSM4.

This is another very technical blog post which provides a look into the new database library which has been added to the TSM codebase with TSM4. This is an internal code library which makes it easier for us to implement new features in TSM4. This new database library is made possible by the class library which I discussed in a previous blog post.

Our main motivation for creating this database library was to make it easier to represent large datasets in a very structured way which could easily be consumed by the higher-level application logic. First things first:

Your main source of income will come from Tome of the Tranquil Mind
I personally don't sell Vantus Runes on my server since they are not profitable on my server so I will not mention them
You should sell Glyphs and always have two of them up on AH at all time. Yes, they do sell, especially Druid ones

Always check your Sallow Pigment price as well as your Felwort price. Here are some things to follow:

If price of Sallow Pigment is 20g less than price of 1 Tome of Tranquil Mind, buy the Sallow Pigment
If price of 2 Felworts is 10g less than price of 1 Tome of Tranquil Mind, buy the Felwort

Check for Glyph undercuts twice a day
Post Glyphs on 12h duration
Look up pretty stacking, use it on Tome of Tranquil Mind (e.g. price for Tomes in stack of 1 is 45g while the price for Tomes in stack of 20 is 55g)
Don't be afraid to reset the market for Tome of Tranquil Mind, they sell relatively fast
TSM is a must for Glyphs, don't bother using Auctionator for posting, there are too many Glyphs to post, it's tedious

Check your Inscription group to make sure you have a sub-group called Materials, if you don't please make one.
Open Import/Export Tab.
Highlight Materials.
Copy string from the blog into the box.

Open the Group Tab and you should a new sub-group added called Inks in materials.

Comment by HydracenIn regards to morality on virtual trading, I've had similar situations arise when building up an account's value in another game, Team Fortress 2, where I'd say largely the same rules applied to me as they do in WoW.
I used to seek out quicksells, items being sold blatantly sub-market value, snipe on automated sites/community market and even dabble in "sharking", which essentially was lowballing new players for a giant profit margin (rare unboxes/old promo items). Ultimately trading was a fun game for me and I didn't become dedicated to it to the point I had large-scale operations for buying commodities low/selling high - which the top traders were doing. The trading community was rather competitive and hostile and that attitude has stuck with me.
I can safely say I wouldn't feel any guilt about landing some high-value snipes, exploiting the market etc., it's a fun detour from the usual gold gains. Even if I'm on the losing end I can cope with it. I am however really excited about the Legacy Loot change, if nothing else I think that it will help transmog runners so that they don't spend their lives waiting for one item to drop. Definitely think the legacy loot change is a good idea, it greatly increases the chance of getting the transmog items you are after.
