Looks really good. Stat wise. Can't wait to see some of the graphics that blizzard puts on this bad boy. Only downfall, Level 70 and it has 80dps. Kingsfall is level 60 and has 70+ dps.

I had always intended to get the tokens for a Searing Sunblade (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=29275), but I suppose if I got this first I would take it and spend those tokens on something else. It may not be a 1.3 speed but the stats and the sockets make up for it.

According to Pf's dps spreadsheet (rogue.bleedo.net), a combat dagger rogue loses a good ~12 dps (unbuffed) by using this as an offhand in place of warp splinter's thorn, due to the thorn's 1.3 speed (better for combat potency).

You dont need to put the correct gems in there, you could socket in 3 8 crit gems and get almost 1 1/2 crit, or 62 attack power without enchants, its good for pretty much anyone because of the customization you can put into it.

It's a shame of this dagger's speed. It seems Blizzard is at times, still either clueless or just plain careless when it comes to rogue itemisation.

At 1.6 with its damage range, it's not going to merit fantastic backstabs or mutilates over 1.8 daggers.

For an off-hand, it's a bit too slow when you take into account Shiv's energy cost and combat potency's proc rate.

As a combat daggers rogue, I'd rather off-hand WST, and wait for a more suitable MH.

Sidegrade at best.

I would say this dagger is not primarily intended for rogues to carry since it doesn't really fit _perfect_ into any playstyle. It could go along with any spec but it would not be able to do so to perfection. In my opinion (being a rogue myself) this weapon really isn't limited to rogues, but all classes that can make a good use of it are in no way restricted to roll/need/bid.

two things:
1) Shiv is normalized for damage, however, speed DOES matter because the faster the weapon the cheaper the shiv's energy cost.
20+(speed*10). Therefore a 1.3 weapon is a 33 energy shiv and a 1.6 is a 36 energy shiv.
2) This is a fantastic weapon unless you have combat potency. Shiv is still cheaper than SS, it has .1 less DPS than ER, and it's customizable.

As a Fury Warrior, I am positively salivating over this weapon. I find myself crossing my fingers every time we get to the Opera event, just for a chance at her. I have enough +crit, so I'd slam 3 Bold Living Rubies (+8 strength per) and a Potency enchant on it. 102 AP from a single weapon? Yes please.

As a matter of fact this weapon is AMAZING for Rogues and Hunters as well, IMO. 3 sockets on a weapon is unbelievably hot.

Just got this last week, but I already have legacy so not worth it as hunter but its cool to have i guess. Keeping it in my bank until i come across a 1H witha damage proc then have some fun with this baby....but thats if one ever comes around.

Hmm, lots of comments from rogues. This one should rock the boat. I'm a shaman, specced for enhance. Normally an enhance shaman wouldn't touch anything faster than 2.5s. But this one has 3 sockets. It's has the largest number of sockets of any off-hand weapon we can wield.

So forget it's DPS, the crit and AP bonuses, but imagine it with 3 +12 spell damage gems and +40 spell damage enchant. 76 spell damage from an off hand :D

I know you can't because you're all rogues looking at this. But for a shaman who has an alternate set of +spell gear for back-up it's a very nice item to have. That's more +spell damage than you can get anywhere else.

I expect the death threats, and lurn2play mail now. *grins*

As of last patch (2.2.0) the size of this dagger got smaller for some reason, well atleast on undead.

Still this is anamazing dagger whichever way u slice it is a great OH or if you actually have nothing better at the moment a great main hand.

Also if you ignore the socket bounus and slap in all +12 stamina sockets this could rival kings defender or even sun eater as a tanking weapon, ive seen several tanks using this in guilds doing SSC and TK who never got a kings defender.

I think this dagger is great main hand weapon for combat specced rogue. White dmg (which is the main source of dmg for this spec) is the same as Emerald Ripper, but this one can be socketed. And with proper gems it has much better stats than Emerald Ripper. For off-hand it is too slow for combat rogue.

I was thinking about my warrior when i use my spell reflect-macro to go into "defensive mode" (often when a mage just frost nova'd and is going to frostbolt me). In such a situation you'd want as much resillience as possible so until now i've always used https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=28184 instead of my https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=28295 because strange enough that blue 1h sword from non-heroic BM has an astonishing 21 resillience while my S1 1h-sword only has 10 resillience.

Now this dagger is the only 1h in game that has 3 sockets in which you could put 3 epic resillience gems https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=32209 of 10 resillience each. This gets it to a whole whopping 30 resillience on just your 1-h alone which imo makes it the best 1h for arena warriors which are busy spell reflecting, trying to survive the nuke of something like a mage + rogue team.

Well now while we're at it already we might as well think about the only ranged weapon in game with 2 sockets, the https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=30724. If you put 2 10-resillience gems in it you have 20 resillience (while S3 throwing weapon only has 12 resillience).

So... if you have this dagger and that https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=30724 (gun with 2 sockets) equipped instead of
a S3 1h + throwing weapon you'd have 26 more resillience.

It may seem small but all tiny bits count don't they? ;-)

An interesting side effect of having three sockets means this weapon (when used as a stat stick) will scale incredibly well in Northrend, provided you regem it.

Interestingly enough, if you put caster-type gems in it, it might even make dual-wielding elemental/resto shaman viable.

Or socketed with 3x Runed Dragon's Eye enchanted with Enchant Weapon - Mighty Spellpower and having Earthliving on it would give a sexy 309 spellpower just to offhand. Very sexy, just wish this dagger had a higher drop rate.

as a level 70 twink, i got this dagger last night, immediately bought the best gems and put one of the best enchants on it. why? because it is the best offhand OVERALL. for starters, rogues can be either mutilate(attacks with two hands, requires both weapons to be dagger) or non-mutilate(attack with main-hand, you want a fast offhand in this case)

this weapon is 1.6, not too fast for mutilate, way better than those 1.3~1.5 ones. and it's okay for just being an offhand, way better than 1.7~2.8 weapons.

and most importantly, it comes with 3 sockets. as you can see here:

this weapon is the only one-hand/mainhand/offhand weapon in game that has 3 sockets.

so let's say if you want to stack stam, you put 3 24-stam gems in this baby, you get, boom, 85 stam.

if you you want to stack AP, 3 32-AP gems, boom, 114 attack power.

similarly, 3 16-haste gems will give 48 haste.

or you can just balance things out and put appropriate gems in those sockets and get tons of stats.

TLDR version: it's the best rogue offhand there is if you get bored of one build quickly and mess around with different builds and specs.

this dagger is a beast, not for the damage or speed, but for the truckload of stats that you get off of it with enchants and jewels.

example:

+15 agil enchant
+4 hit/+4 agil gem
+4 agil/6 sta gem
+8 agil gem

All something that the average rogue would customize this dagger with.
Net total gains (including the dagger's base stats) for a rogue (my math might be off):

16 stamina
4 hit rating
31 agility
54 total attack power
a little over 1% crit
~1.7 % dodge
and some armor (lol)

thats amazing, off one piece. the sockets make this dagger OH worthwhile for ANY rogues really (mutilate rogues want a slower one for more harder mutilate hits, and combat rogues want a faster one for more combat potency procs). I can tell you, I'm Mutilate, and didnt hesitate one second to take this dagger and trick it out. Do yourself a favor if you happen to be lucky enough to land this: find some good gems and make it a worthwhile companion to your mainhand.

Even with 3 +16 AP gems, it's not as good as my old Guile of Khoraazi, prepatch. For hunters at least. I'll never forgive Blizz for nurfing that dagger and upping stats on every other lvl 70 epic in the game. Grrr!

True it's 0.2 speed lower then most optimum mutilate daggers, but it has SO MANY STATS. Really with this in your off-hand compared to say emerald ripper, your mutilate damage will be really, really only slightly lower. This thing's great though cause 1) droolworthy stats 2) faster poison applications and 3) shiv gets a little better, if you use it.

If your mutilate, please don't scoff at the 1.6 speed it's nowhere near as bad as you think it is, the damage difference is truly neglible.

With the fact that this is one of the TRULY rare socket able weapons in the game, I'd go as far as to say this is probably the best dagger in the game, for now. Forget about stats, forget about dps, and forget about speed. You can socket this weapon, adding waaaay more stats, plus you can enchant it. This dagger almost makes me want to respec as a dagger rogue. In fact, I would respec for this dagger if I won it in a guild run. Of course it would go to the other dagger rogues first, as I am sword spec, but when it was my turn I would honestly respec for this.

in fact this dagger with a +8 agi +8 critratin and 4agi+6stamina gem is far superior any blue mainhand you could find because of the resulting crit value.
+15 agi enchant and you might wear it even in black temple still ...

looking around for tanking weapons this one might just outdo everything else i've seen so far :D nothing else matches the stamina possibility from gems

i have Crest of the Sha'tar with 2 +12 stam gems and 18 stam from enchant. Which means 60 stamina on my shield alone!

You may not believe it, but, since our rogue had already got this dagger, and it would be sharded, I asked if I could use it and the Blade instantly popped into my bags ^^. I'm a tank, and this is a GREAT upgrade from the Grom Tor's Charge: fully socketed and enchanted, it's a beast (+4 stre, +6 stam; +4 def, +6 stam; +12 stam). The drawback is that the King's Defender, my dream, have dropped for all the other tanks in my guild but me, and it's already the seventh week I've spent hoping and waiting for it to drop (I already have the mats for the Mongoose, if only it would ever drop...)

I can see why a hunter would want this... Gemmed properly you can get 50 attack power, and 17 crit rating, plus a good amount of stamina...

Of course, rolling on this over a rogue or warrior is just mean, wait until they have it before you decide you need a new BUFF item.

Yes this is a fine blade in OH if you don't have EmeraldRip or Malch yet. Mutilate uses the damage range 112-168 not the DPS. So while it is true that between two weapons in the same level range slower weapons have higher damage range than faster weapons, but this is a 70 purple drop so it happens to have more bang for the buck at 1.60 speed :)

Same skin as the Merciless Shanker, Shiv and the Searing Sunblade. Man would that be a nice combo: MH this blade and OH Searing Sunblade. Since the drop is so rare I am going to settle for the Shanker and the Sunblade and not be at the mercy of the drop rate and/or rolling on it.

Update, even if you don't care:

This dropped for me last night and NO ONE even thought about rolling. They all know it's better for the guild in my (Rogue) hands. Thank you Sentience (Drenden) for knowing the game. Once I get mongoose on it I respec to daggers and pair it with my Sunblade in OH.

Got this on my oh, and the riftmaker in my mh. Awesome blade. presently have mongoose on rift, and 20 agil on the blade. thinkin of changin mon to the blade and execut to my rift, would kinda like some input on this. Dont really want to waste the gold and time farmin mats if not worth it.

Ever though about giving this weapon to tanks?

If you are a tank and unlucky with the droprate of tanking weapons, then go need on this weapon and put some +def rating / +sta gem in it. Might sound silly, but at least they give some tanking stats then ...

ROGUES - BTW, socket this right and you could be looking at a 93.9DPS (58AP), +8 hit, 19 stam, 9 crit weapon. If you are at or near hit cap and/or don't need/want that hit gem then you could have 94.35DPS (66AP), 19 stam, 14 crit weapon. Both scenarios benefit from the +8 socket bonus.
