Of course, I understand why people want to be able to transfer their characters but with the knowledge players have today, I feel being able to transfer Classic characters would be a mistake as anybody who didn't extensively play Classic will be massively behind the pay-grade, similar to how post-WoD retail players today still feel the burn of not being able to indulge in WoD passive gold. Items would become too expensive because of the huge amount of gold the average player will pool on a Classic character. Another reason a transfer would be awful is exactly the same reason it was awful at actual TBC launch - take all these level 60 characters and shove every single one of them into Hellfire Peninsula, yikes.Realistically, we'd need different servers for different rules - some servers where you have to start from 1 and some where you can transfer Classic characters. Levelling was different in TBC than in Vanilla because of new skills, changes to talent trees and basic class amendments and changes - some things were actually feasible, like levelling a Druid and Balance or actually having skills as a Paladin. For me, level 1 is my favoured way to start everyone on a level playing field, which I think a "revisit" of a game needs due to all knowledge being already available with no mysteries in the works.
This is just going to splinter the existing playerbase.
Option 4 is best.... there is no point of deleting your classic character, also there is almost no point keeping it... when you kill your first boar beyond dark portal you gonna get green item stronger than your tier 3... So copy of your character to new TBC server is best option
This survey is not thought out very well, as two of the options don't have anything to do with the other two. It really should have had two questions:How would you like to start TBC Classic on an existing Classic character?1. Convert my server to TBC Classic with an option for characters to transfer to original Classic servers4. Keep my server Classic, with an option for characters to transfer to a TBC Classic serverHow would you want to start a new character in TBC Classic? (Don't forget, there are new starting zones for Draenei and Blood Elves, which would be completely lost with everyone starting at 58)2. Level 583. Level 1I originally wanted option 4 so I could stay on the server I created my Classic characters on, with the intent that it is a Classic server, and would not arbitrarily change into something else. That said, I would take it all back and go Option 1 if it would just shut up the clone copy squad. Copying your character should never be an option in production environments. You need to make a permanent decision that will affect your gameplay, and you need to own it. Stop being wishy-washy, need-your-duplicate-character, indecisive, gotta-have-it-all's. If you want two of the same character, level two of the same character. If you want Classic, play Classic. If you want TBC, pick that. Quit trying to min/max the game development to your benefit, too. No wonder you never like anything. You set unreasonably high expectations for everyone around you, but don't want to put forth any extra effort of your own.
If I will get a chance to get the Swift Nether Drake mount, I will gladly return for TBC.
This guy. Been yearning for a return to Naxx since February 12th, 2007.
Copy please. But since the game is account wide starting in MOP, and if they end up doing all expansions as "classic" servers options (a big if), then at one point all the progress from classic realms would be unified. In that sense it would make sense to allow to transfer characters to any server type, stripped from whatever can be acquired in newer expansions (more recent than the currently played expansion that is).
I prefer option 4, but honestly 1 & 4 are basically the same thing, you will have your vanilla characters in vanilla servers, and you will have said characters copied onto tbc servers. but whatever, I would get to play tbc again, im h appyi love tbc.gj blz.
Character copies onto new servers, or entirely duplicate classic servers into a new set of servers that would move into TBC. One of the main requests for classic coming out is that we didn't want to be forced into BC and be able to enjoy our characters/the gear we get forever at lvl 60. I personally will be sad if they force the current servers into BC. I definitely want to play BC again, but they should keep it separate. Also what is good Blizzard, I've had an active sub since 04 and haven't received this survey O_o
I like the idea behind it. Some people like Classic/Vanilla, some folks like TBC, and then there are people like me, who started right around the time Wrath dropped. That said, would I be willing to play Vanilla/TBC/Wrath Classic servers? I doubt it, honestly. I enjoy new content, and for better or worse, retail WoW is constantly moving and evolving. I tried Classic, but the truth is, knowing that there's a set end point, where eventually the game will stop coming out with new content, already makes it stagnant for me. It's a fantastic nostalgia trip to be sure, but not something I want to sink lots of time into, especially since there's no back-and-forth (achievements, transmog) between Classic and retail. However, I also recognize the desire of a certain part of the player base to relive the various stages of older content, and I think that dedicated Classic servers as well as dedicated "Classic TBC" servers would positively serve those players. People like me can continue playing retail, and those others can play at whatever stage/expansion they want. A win-win, I think.
I would prefer to tranfser my char to a new TBC server.Ofc this means that the old vanilla realms will lose population, so maybe a real merge will occur. It would be nice if they also released a new 'clean' classic server every couple of years though, in my opinion, to keep the playerbase happy.I can't wait for TBC ^_^
I personally don't mind leveling up from lvl 1 on a BC server. BUT, for those in Classic - keep your character on Classic Server as a stand alone game - with the option for a one time copy to BC Servers, considering them two separate games.
GG if this happens....Live already losing players.Classic has a limited amount of players.Open TBC then you siphon what small bit classic has to anopther limited # expac only.might as well just make up to wrath and release em all at once and let ppl pick their favorite and get it over with -.-
I can't wait for WoD classic!
There is, it is literally option 4
The problem with copying a character is thisI can borrow a mass amount of gold and mats.Copy my toon, then hand the stuff to the next guy in lineNow he copies, also with max gold and a ton of stuff, now he passes it to the next guy, and so on and so on.Now you got a bunch of billionaires right off the bat.People were already planning for that
