Located 31, 42. He is inside the main hut of the village with 2 guards beside him and a bunch of shaman surrounding the outside walls

He has quite a long spawn time, at least 10 min.

Good to pair this up with Murkblood Corrupters, http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=9862 and Stopping the Spread http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=9874 in case the boss needs to respawn. You can torch the corpses and kill the putrifiers.

One of the two guards for me was a lightning caster, the other a meelee mob. They're non elites but neither is a slouch. Full clearing of non-guards is doable but not trivial.

As a warrior, I had a bit of trouble. The mage guy hurts of course, right through my armor, and it's a bit close for fearing. I chose to kill the clothie, run away and let them reset, heal, and then kill ortor.

With a friend, or many other classes I'm sure it's no big deal.

I soloed this as a 66 arms/fury warrior.

Stand right outside of the tent, pull the main dude with a bow and run around the corner. All three follow you outside the tent, so you avoid aggroing the shaman mobs on the inside perimeter of the hut.

As a warrior, I just feared his two guards and beat down on Ortor with retaliation/recklessness. He should be dead by the time the two adds come back, and at that point I just used piercing howl to run away from them.

Very easy as a feral druid. Stealth inside the building, sneak up behind Ortor. He goes down very quickly. He will never even know what hit him. Adds are also easy. Murkbloods are very weak humanoid mobs. If you have even halfway decent feral gear, you won't even need to switch into bear form or pop out to heal (until it is over).

Easy solo for 64 BM hunter, just pop all the cools on him with the melee freezed, then go for caster, re-freezing melee, then finish off melee. Imp'd trap duration would make this a lot easier though.

As of 3.3 this quest no longer requires you to loot his head.

He is no longer elite. However his respawn timer is still quite lengthy.

go scour the roads of Nagrand until you find three Murkbloods riding around on elekks. Kill them and get the Murkblood Invasion Plans. That will start the quest Murkblood Invaders and lead you to its followup, Ortor My Old Friend

If you're looking to complete the zone achievement, know that you also need 'The Totem of Kar'dash' for 'The Murkblood' part of it. It's easy to overlook. In a hut in the village (found mine at 33,42) there is a kurenai captive with two brutes. Kill the brutes, and he'll offer you an escort quest. If this is the last one you need, you'll get the achievement as soon as he's safe. You don't even need to turn in the quest.

I got my Loremaster achievement with the last quest of this storyline. There was no quest return, it just complete on it self at the end of the escort. It took me of guard. I'm very happy to be done with this

Arechron at Telaar in Nagrand wants you to kill Ortor of Murkblood.

Description

These invasion plans were written by someone I once knew. Ortor of Murkblood, once a noble Broken, versed in the way of the elements, now a muck addled yes-man of Musel'ek the bog lord.

The plans state that they have taken over an orc village northwest of here known as Sunspring.

Travel to Sunspring Post and rid the world of Ortor of Murkblood. What you do, you do for the good of us all...
