This is currently bugged for me. I used the book, Medivh and the dragon spawned, then nothing happens.

Ok, finally got it working. It bugs out when multiple people use the book at the same time. If you are there with a group, decide who is using the book and no one else touch it. If you are there alone, don't click it twice.

Where exactly is the terrace? Anyone have a screenshot?

The above comment is correct.

1) Go in the side entrance.
2) Open the door directly in front of you and go through it.
3) Turn left and follow the passage, but don't go up any stairs.
4) When you see the staircase, go through the opening to the right of the stairs.
5) There are two paths. One path leads into the ballroom, but there's a door immediately inside that passageway, to the left, that leads outside. Go outside.
6) Read the book.
7) Wait for the event to conclude.

Be sure that after you use the book, you stay there and witness Medivh's interaction with the dragon. The quest completes at the end of the "event," not right when you use the book.

When you go to the Master's Terrace read the book in the center of the half circle so that there is equal distance between both entrances to the terrace.

hello all,
yes this quest is confirmed by a GM to bug sometime.
it bugged for me the first time.
i dont have any idea about multiple ppl doing the quest at the same time. however, i was the only one on the quest.
Main important thing is to click once and ONLY once the book.
u have to wait bout 30sec after mediv and the dragon appear. then mediv will start talking to the dragon. wait a bit longer and it should work.
if it bugs, wait couple of hours then come back and try again.

This is still bugged as of the 2.1 patch.

Follow the other comments' recommendations if you find yourself unable to complete the quest.

I had the same problem. First I tried soft resetting (leaving the instance for 30 minutes). That didn't work, so I contacted a GM who told me he couldn't do much but I could allways try to dump the quest & retake it. I did that plus another soft reset, then it worked.

Following these directions it repeatedly says "requires the southern end of the Master's Terrace" when I try to read the book. Any clues what I'm doing wrong or is this part of the bug?

It was bugged for me today, too. I clicked the Book a couple of times when I weren't in the right place. When I didn't get any more errors and the Book was on CD nothing happened. Soft-Reset worked for me though. I waited outside for 30 minutes and then went straight to where I new it would work. This time the event started.

I think this book now despawns when someone has used it. I just been in after full clear in kara and can't find the book anywhere. Must now disappear after it has been used once.

I did the event successfully just now in exactly that same gorup/raid configuration. Not discounting what happened to you, just informing that it doesn't always occur.

Still bugged.

Possibly better directions - at the bottom of THE BROKEN STAIR there are two entrances to the terrace needed - 1 under the ramp staircase and 1 next to it - at foot of ramp. The one under the ramp staircase leads directly out on to the terrace. The one at the foot you need to go through and turn immediate left to get to the terrace you need.

Tried this yesterday, did not work, the journal went to CD but nothing appeared to happen and the quest did not complete.

Completed without error on Bleeding Hollow. Southern Master's Terrace clicked the book and watched the story.

So, if you are totally lost as to WHERE Medivh's Journal is because you accepted this quest and didn't get to finishing it until years later or multiple clears of Kara... Check your bag. After reading the quest and comments here we had assumed we were looking for the journal on the terrace. Three of us scoured the Internet and here until one of realized Medivh's Journal was linked and was provided by the quest.

Did it today, it does not longer seem to be bugged. Stood at 40.7, 90.1, the South end of Master's Terrace, the dialog completed and was able to turn in the quest.

I think this quest may still be bugged unfortunately. Having just this moment watched the event, quest completed comes up on screen, then nothing.

Not tried a soft reset just yet might do though later maybe. Solo'd the instance and have the achieve now and the tier tokens so really not so much urgency for this really.

When you take this quest, you won't be standing near the side entrance to Karazhan; you'll be standing next to Kamsis in Guardian's Library. There's a good chance that you won't know where Nightbane is either, since this boss can't be summoned until you have completed the questline of which this quest is a part.

So, here's how you get to Master's Terrace from the questgiver:

Take the ramp up to the Menagerie where the Curator boss presides (it's the one of the two ramps that is farthest away from you). At the end of the Menagerie, turn right and enter a room with a dwarven statue. Go east from here to the area called The Broken Stair.

Go down the stairs (you can only go in one direction). You'll come to a room with a green carpet. Go through the exit in the stone wall here. You are now on the Master's Terrace, but you still need to find the southern section of the terrace. Continuing will get you back inside the tower, past a bonfire and down a stone ramp. At the foot of the ramp continue through the exit that's right in front of you.

If you turn right you'll now see the servant's entrance. Instead of going there, take the western exit out to the terrace and proceed round the terrace to the point where you see a skull on your map. And you're set to go!

This quest isn't bugged, you just have to follow the instructions given to you. once you've seen the scene, and the quest is marked as completed, you must LEAVE the raid zone and talk to the npc at the entrance to the raid to hand it in. Happy questing!

unless/is this reputation based and just not saying that anywhere? because I cannot finish it, I click on the book icon or the book itself in my bag and all it does is the 20 second reset countdown timer, nothing else happens no visions, error messages or anything which to me means it is bugged. and logging did not help either.

Hello everyone. I have came here to say I found a solution to this. Created an account for this very single case.

If you are having troubles making the event appear when you use the journal, quit game, go to your World of Warcraft directory, and DELETE THE \CACHE\WDB FOLDER. This should make the event appear again when you use the journal.

For you don't screw up again, follow the instructions everyone else put in here:
- Only use the book once;
- Don't move far from where the scene occurs;
- Wait at least 20 seconds after the last speech. Don't leave the spot until you see the quest complete message;
- The quest is to be turned over OUTSIDE KHARAZAN (the instance), to Archmage Alturus! So don't abandon yet!

P.S.: I do not know which (if there's any) side effects deleting the wdb folder would cause. I saw none so far.

As of Legions Pre-Patch Release Archmage Alturus will not be available to turn in quests, until after the Invasions.

Try it. Go to the Master's Terrace and read the page; you'll see just what I mean. Might as well report to Alturus while you're at it. I'm afraid I'll be here for a while.
