How to do Stalking the Warrens:

accept the quest
go to The Beastwarrens at /way 54,2, 76,5
stop 6 feeding rituals by killing Mawsworn Soulfeeder around the area (step to Hunt completed)
confront Gorged Shadehound (he will run to inside the cave) /way 54,1, 79,1 (cave entrance)
follow him and start the fight (at 52% HP he will run again)
use a Chain at /way 49,5, 47,8 to jump down
kill Gorged Shadehound
return the quest in Ve'nari's Refuge (Cypher of Relocation is a good item to back fast)

As of posting date, this quest is solo-able as the Gorged Shadehound does not heal itself when it goes out of combat. Just keep kiting and chip away its health until you kill it.

Unless you teleport back to Ve'nari's Refuge, you'll be phased out from your fellow party members that you found in group finder.

So I completed the hunt before returning to turn in Rule 6 and now I can't do the next part of the quest, which is for the actual hunt. I waited till reset today and I guess the hunt is weekly..

So I’m doing the Death Elementals hunt right now, but I don’t know how to find/spawn the Roiling Stygia for the step where you need to kill 4 of them... and the page for them currently has no comments. Any suggestions?

This quest does not work. I go in the quest area and there is nothing there. Tried it 2 days in a row so far.

If you are having issues try doing it with Warmode on.
I cannot say for sure if this is the problem here, but I could see all the spawns and progress the quest normally with Warmode on while my friend with WM off couldn't see anything since yesterday.

Hotfix went in, and there is still nothing in the beastwarrens for me to do related to the hunt 3 days later. Tried WM on and off, Nothing. Ran around the entire area, so this is really tied to a 4+ day respawn or something is very wrong. any info?

You need WM ON (War Mode) to see the quest in the area, Try it and Thumbs up to let ppl see it.

Killed the Alpha Anima Devourer and completed the hunt, but the quest wasn't marked as complete...

To do this quest, you have to do the event when it appears in the Warrens.

Similar to the Wrath of the Jailer, you'll see a big event icon appear in the Warrens when it's live. The specific event changes every week--the one I did doesn't even seem to be in the database yet (Hunt: Anima Devourers). It works the same way as the Wrath of the Jailer. Progress the bar by killing the relevant mobs mentioned for it until the bar reaches 100%. The bar is progressable by anyone in the area, not just your own kills. A boss will spawn when the bar is 100%, and you kill that.

Be warned that the mobs needed for the one I did were all elites that hit pretty hard, and the boss was also pretty beefy. I do not recommend attempting to solo them as a non-tank, and it might take a tank a good while to kill anything solo. There wasn't anyone there at all when I did this with a friend, and I'm on a very high pop server. Bring friends or a premade!

Also, since I see a lot of comments about needing war mode on, we were war mode off when we did this.

There is a new hunt as of today, its the alpha anima devourers. They have about 80k hp and need to be chained down to the ground from the sky, they do a soul bomb which is a mini explosion with a 10 second cast. at 100% of filling the bar(be warned, each kill only gives about 5% complete its VERY slow solo) a bigger one spawns with about 700k hp that you have to continually chain to the floor every 30 seconds or so. Did it with 4 people but did not get credit(when I entered the warrens, it was 70% complete for the event im not sure if this is why) and I had to restart from 0% complete all over again.

I did finally get credit the second time around, mind you the phasing bug still exists there. If you form a group they must ALL hearth back to oribos or venari refuge and run back. Then, you will all be in the same phase.

We are killing ravenous shadehounds that appear from "stop the feeding rituals" but the counter isnt going up atm for us and has stuck at 3/6. I assume ours is bugged

This is stupid. It shows 5/6 even though I haven't previously been on this quest. Now 30 minutes after looking for anything & killing everything in the area, just to see if it registers. Nothing.

Can not be completed in a raid.

Feeding rituals are very close to boss.

Kill 6 Mawsworn Soulfeeders (picture and location found on this page). These will not spawn if in a raid.

if this quest is bugged (i.e. no quest objectives appear on your minimap near the small quest objective circle), find a maw group through group finder, leave the maw if you are already there, come back to the maw (this will phase you in with the rest of your group, you have to leave the maw to get correctly phased), check if it's also bugged on that phase or not. if not do the quest, if it is, find another group.

12/27/20 - QUEST CURRENTLY BROKEN.

No quest objectives show on the map and the quest details are super cryptic. I'll update this post once I figure it out. So far, by these posts, it seems you have to be lucky to see the quest objectives.

12/29/20 UPDATE - Seems the quest is now fixed after maintenance.

Get into a group - ensure phasing is correct by returning to Oribos, then jumping into the MAW.
Ensure "The Hunt" is active in The Beastwarrens section of the map (south east).
Kill 6 Shadehound Devourers (I farmed at /way 52,78).
A "Gourged Devourer" elite will appear. (You'll need a group to kill him).
Once you get him down to about 75% HP, he will travel to the underground cave near /way 52,78 to finish the fight. Follow and kill him.
Quest complete!

Did this quest today 2021/01/05. Went fine. Had to kill some mobs, then the 62 elite spawned, grouped with a mage and a shaman, and we 3-manned it (was BM hunter). Didn't have to confront anyone, didn't have to go to no cave.

Finding someone in your same phase that is not bugged makes this quest one immense pain to do. Like torghast this kind of content makes people skip the maw and all that is related to it.

"The hunt" will be a seemingly random quest, not just the one described in one of the popular examples, but the same or similar to.
For example, you may have to kill the flying maw dragon things then their brood alpha.

You will get a quest similar to a world quest with a progress bar that can be complete by both you and people not in your group.
That will lead to another quest to kill an elite or alpha npc, again, you won't have to be in a group, but you will need one to complete this quest. (at least right now).

Dont know what people complain about, but guess its fixed now a days - I just did the boss another time this week and the quest complete, just no mount loot chance again ofc.

Weirdest thing happened.

Joined a group of course we were phased, somehow still we were all getting progress, then group leader leaves and so the other person, I'm alone and listed group, tag along an alliance bear and we get into such cave, I still no idea what to do so I hook to a safe zone to read this with nobody else in my group and zing task is done while I'm tabbed out.

I still don't know what to do LOL

I wanted to add my experience so that it might help you with this quest.

Before looking for a group or starting a group I went to the area of the Maw to get a feel for
what this quest was about. As soon as I entered the Beastwarren area an auto quest popped up:

Quest title: Hunt: Soul Eaters
Banner reads: Ritual Experimentation
0/20 Destroy Displaced Soul Feeders
Ritual Progress (red bar goes from 0% - 100%)

Right off the bat, my progress went to
3/20 Destroy Displaced Soul Feeder
without killing or doing anything, so I figured someone else was on the quest
and even though I was not in their group, I was somehow getting credit.

The red bar (ritual progress) was slowly climbing and by the time I got to the area where you need
to be to kill Soul Feeders (around /way 54 69) I saw a Troll Shaman killing Soul Feeders. I guessed
I was getting credit for his kills so I killed one or two and by that time the red bar went to 100%
and got a message on my screen to the effect of "You failed, the Ritual succeeded". The auto quest
pop up disappeared from my screen and there were no mobs in the area anymore.

The Troll left the area (or perhaps phased out) and I was by myself and there were no mobs in the
area, except a lost soul trapped in chains. When I killed it, the auto quest popped up again and
the mobs re-appeared. There were two elite mobs but they were ethereal and not attackable, only the
Soul Feeders could I target and kill. After I killed 6/20, the red bar hit 100% and I failed again and
realized there was no way I would be able to solo the quest.

I started a group called "Stalking the Warrens" and after 20 minutes no one joined the group so I
started a new group called "Hunt: Soul Eaters WM off". This worked very well because in less than
1 minute, we had a full party of 5. The strange thing was that I could see the dots on the mini map
where the other 4 members of our group were but I could not see them and I don't think they could see
me. After I killed one Displaced Soul Feeder, one of the members phased in to where I could now see
them. We killed a second Soul Feeder and now I could see all of the party members in our group. We
were easily able to kill 20/20 Displaced Soul Feeders at which point the quest objectives changed to:

0/1 Undying Soulbinder
0/1 Shifting Life-Eater

Now those two elite mobs were no longer ethereal and we could attack them and kill them. They dropped
5 x Shifting Catalyst of which I was able to loot one and two other members were also able to loot one, but the
other two members of the group were unable to loot anything. Anyway I never got to use the item because it
disappeared from my inventory, then I realized it only has a 10 minute duration. It didn't really matter to me
because I was just happy to complete the quest.

I hope this info helps you complete the quest.

Anyone know if you're supposed to get Ve'nari rep for this? I got the completion and the gold but no rep. I wasn't in a group or raid. I was on a mount during the turn in. If you get rep please comment and I'll submit a bug.

I think the info here is completely out of Date. There are several Hunts possible now (more RNG of course). Look on your map in Beast Warrens and see which one it is.

The one I did is Hunt: Soul Eaters to kill this guy: Shifting Life-Eater

Seems to be weirdly bugged. I was trying to do this on my Ally Rogue with WM ON and having a hard time finding a group and was just standing by quest area stealthed. I kept seeing horde groups doing it but bosses were tagged so figured no credit. One time I did tag both bosses (on Hunt: Soul Eaters) but got no credit. Another time I was just afk, standing there stealthed and a horde group killed both bosses and I got credit (didn't tag bosses or anything). So yeah, this game isn't a buggy mess.

Did this quest on 2/27/21 and it gave me the 0/1 hunt completed. I went to /way 53.78, 69.30 in the maw and killed the Shifting Life-Eater & Undying Soulbinder for credit.

If you create a group and you end up phased out from your group, they will have to go back to Oribos for some reason and then travel back. Hope this helps.

Best way to deal with this quest: DON'T. Every variation of this quest is still bugged, and knowing Blizzard, most likely will never ever get fixed. Just skip this weekly quest now and forever.

After running around killing everything, found the spot (just above the "N" of "Beastwarrens" on the map). Was 220 level, all buffed, blitzed all the monsters until the bar got to 100% and then the message: "The ritual succeeded, you have failed" and the thing reset to zero. I won't be bothering with this again

As of 9.1 people have pretty much left this zone and despite asking for help in chat and starting groups I have sat idle for 3-4 hours thus unable to complete this quest. Pretty annoying but thats what happens I guess.

Another winner Blizz! The Soul Eaters quest. Even though you are perfectly capable of taking down the mobs, the mechanics will not allow you to solo this. If you do to well, the spawning of the mobs will slow down while the ritual will speed up. Guess I can kiss Chapter 6 goodbye. The world will never know what is beyond.

Sigh, another quest line I abandoned. IF you can find a group, good on you, or if your dps is stellar you should be fine. But a healer or tank? Yeah, just pass on this one. Not a well designed quest at all. This just keeps happening, quests are not difficult, just impossible to solo for some classes.
