If you have an issue triggering this quest, re-zoning into Oribus will trigger it. I just took the portal to the upper floors and it worked.

Are LFR heroes, like myself, stuck not being able to get this quest until we kill Denathrius in LFR?

Think, you will get this quest, only if u defeated sire denathrius and completed the quest that follows up from remornia. The cinematic from "An Echo in the Darkness" quest chain is a follow up of sire's demise, so makes sense.

This quest didn't show on my map until having completed my first Twisting Corridors run and getting the Anduin/Sylvanas cutscene even though I killed Denathrius some time ago. At first I was confused about no followup other than Bolvar grimacing but then I checked my map and now Thrall has a quest to continue the storyline. A lot of the quests seem finicky about not popping properly and having extended pauses between speaking lines.

Is 4 Quests:

1. An Echo in the Darkness - Go to Highlord Bolvar Fordragon in Oribos
2. The Highlord's Vision - Speak with Thrall then press on Helm of Domination Will be a Video
3. A Mourneblade Born - Speak with Highlord Bolvar Fordragon
4. The Jailer's Grasp - press on Helm of Domination

Reward is 5 x Multi-Modal Anima Container ( perfekt quest for weekly anima quest in convent ).

To be given this quest, you must first:

Kill Denathrius, and complete Redemption for the Redeemer by handing in Remornia to General Draven in Sinfall;
Have completed the Torghast quest chain to rescue Thrall and Jaina, starting at Explore Torghast;
Complete three wings of Twisting Corridors (can be separate runs) to complete Signs of the Lion
Peer into the Helm of Domination to watch the cutscene for The Captive King

I thought this quest and Redemption for the Redeemer would be a good way to get anima on my alts. I completed it on my main but couldn't get the quest to show up on alts and had trouble finding anywhere if this quest was once per account or if each character could complete it. After some searching I found this information in a support article -

The quest An Echo in the Darkness becomes available after you have completed both the Torghast storyline up through The Captive King and the quest Redemption for the Redeemer. Redemption for the Redeemer is offered when you obtain the quest item Remornia looted from Sire Denathrius in the Castle Nathria raid.

If you have completed these quests, the quest may not show up until you log out of the game and back in, or leave Oribos and return.

An Echo in the Darkness is a breadcrumb quest, so it is possible to pick up the next quest in the storyline, The Highlord's Vision, and complete the rest of the storyline without completing it. If you have completed The Highlord's Vision, you will lose access to this quest, which is intended and does not impede your progress with the storyline.

So if you have completed The Highlord's Vision quest you won't have access to An Echo in the Darkness anymore. Thought this might be helpful for anyone running around trying to figure out why they can't get Bolvar to offer the quest.

Just to add on to nighteye22's post.

Had a character in its covenant since before 9.1, highlord's vision was flagged as incomplete. Simply zoning into oribos (in my case flying to maldraxxus for WB for renown) will flag you for completion, thus losing access to this quest if you have completed it (or were skipped ahead by the 9.1 quest catchup). Unsure if it is "still" in the game but unless you want to spin up a new wow account on your blizz account (I guess that would make you immune to quest skip maybe?) consider this quest obsolete.

This quest is likely removed from the game. The chain is expected to progress as follows:

The Captive King
An Echo in the Darkness
The Highlord's Vision Horde Only
A Mourneblade Born Alliance only
The Jailor's Grasp Alliance Only
The First Move

At which point the player progresses with the the Chains of Domination campaign

Apparently in order to obtain An Echo in the Darkness, the player simply had to return to Oribus after completing The Captive King. As that quest has been removed along with the entirety of it's chain, it stands to reason that this subsequent chain must also have been removed. My character was not presented with any of these quests, instead being ~~offered~~ or rather having The First Move forced into my quest log.
