How to do Shinies of Bastion:

accept the quest
speak with Chordy (optional)
go to bastion
use Lucky Nose to find 10x Valuable Salvage
return the quest

/way 55,1, 68,6 Chordy

If you have difficult to find Valuable Salvage move to another location in Bastion.
If you lost Chordy for some reason use Call Chordy.

For Bastion, the best place I found to do it is near Baedos (the turtle rare who pukes out a chest, in the ravine just north of Hero's Rest). (Edit: the West side of Baedos seemed better? Hard to say, low sample size so far.)
Chordy would very consistently spawn the ground loot, and there were no enemies around (I guess they only spawn during that one world quest?).
Hope this helps people deal with this annoying quest.

Be sure Chordy is out, and if you don't have the extra UI button show up, check your action bar. You might have moved it there previously.

Another Bastion spot: east of Hero's Rest, 61.3, 50.9 where the Selena the Reborn rare event occurs, as long as no one's summoning the rare there's no mobs. A bit more ground clutter than the Baedos area.

Just north of the starting marker for the quest, at 45, 41, northwest of Hero's Rest, is a Y junction that 3 roads branch out from. Just keep sending Chordy out from this central point and return to it after looting. He won't run far enough to get you into trouble and it makes looting easy and efficient.

I also found it easier if you let Chordy run off on his own after using Lucky Nose. You can usually see the Salvageable Items spawn ahead of him and run straight to it, rather than follow Chordy who doesn't always know exactly where the item is. He also seems to bug out a lot if you run with him, forgetting he's meant to be finding items and rejoins you at your side. Never seems to fail when you send him out like a truffle pig on his own.

If you have a different companion out when you arrive in Bastion, you can speak to them to ask them to 'Go Home'

Then you will be able to summon Chordy.

Input this into the command line or Paste to make salvage easier to see:
/run SetCVar("graphicsGroundClutter",1)
/run SetCVar("Contrast", 100)

And to revert to Blizzard defaults:
/run SetCVar("graphicsGroundClutter",6)
/run SetCVar("Contrast", 50)

This area is relatively flat, clear of rocks, and located right outside Hero's Rest: /way #1533 55.5 54.5 Lucky Luckydo Spot

I always do this right when I land in Hero's Rest. Just stay on the upper part and he finds things all over it. If you activate him too close to one of the teleports he will run to the edge and find nothing though.

If you don't have the action button, create a macro
/cast Lucky Nose

This will get Chordy to do his thing. Found a similar post with one of the other flesh golems :-)

Some basic info:

You can't have more than one companion, so you will have to dismiss in order to summon Chordy.

If you don't have the Lucky Nose ability in an actionbar, create a macro:
/cast Lucky Nose

I had very little issues doing this at 45,43, but everyone is going to have their favorite spot.

He should drop a salvage item every time. It's tedious, but pretty simple.

This quest sucks so much. Half the time he runs off then comes back without finding anything. The other half the time, it's junk. Occasionally you get a quest item. I swear I've been at it for an hour and I have 5/10.

Avoid doing this on the Hero's Rest platform. Chordy didn't deal well with the stairs or tables. Also it seemed like maybe the item was being triggered way down on ground level instead of on the platform with me? It was just really hard to get any items to spawn at all.

If you have flying, you can do this easily on top of one of the big almost flat rocks in the north of Bastion, for instance at 42, 35. No ground clutter, only 1 passive mob, no hostiles.

The best place I have found to do this is right in front of the Spires of Ascension dungeon. No mobs and not a lot of places for him to just take off.

This quest is finally up for the first time since July 2022! If you're reading this and it isn't after reset on 10/25/2022, get it done ASAP! A lot of people were stuck here for the Veilstrider title.
