When you reach the initial brazier and pick up the flame, you should see green runes on the road leading away from the brazier. If you don't see them, wait a moment and they should appear. Running over these will increase your run speed. Follow them without running over any of the small slime NPCs on the path to reach the next brazier. Each time you light a new brazier, the flame debuff will be refreshed. The distance is long enough that you don't have much time to lose, so make haste.

For me the runes on the ground would often neglect to grant me the buff if I passed over them too quickly, so I would stop for a quick moment on each one to trigger it. However, one buff will usually last long enough to reach the next rune should you miss one.

When you click the initial brasier, look to the east. There are green runes on the ground you need to run over to gain extra run speed.
Avoid the oozes and other crap, run around the theater of pain counter clock-wise.

The flames stay lit if you are in a party and 1 person does it before the rest. Because of that, it doesn't allow the rest of the party to complete the wq. Does anyone know if its a bug or if I have to do something?

If you are in druid travel form, shaman ghost wolf,... make sure you GO OUT OF IT when CLICKING the braziers. If you don't, the debuff will NOT refresh.

I was periodically having issues once I got to a certain point, suddenly I would "despawn" out of the world quest. Once I relogged I was able to successfully complete it. I got 3/5 going one way, then returned and did the remaining 2/5 by going the other way around the circle.

This can sometimes bug -- the quest "despawns" while you run around the West side of the Theater of Pain. Just go "wider" -- away from the road -- and you'll avoid that.

Quest seems extremely buggy. Sometimes you can graze a slime and not drop the WQ, other times you'll be 10 yards out and fail.

We had several bugs on beta with this quest

Green speed buffs never spawned
Staying in party could count only for the first person. And the rest would stay with broken quest.

Bugs out if you're a shaman in Ghost Wolf, the flame debuff doesn't restart, so run normally :)

The quest is full of bugs, but you can still do it, run clockwise and then counterclockwise (don't get the speed buff).

when you start the running part, GO WEST. NOT EAST OR ANY OTHER DIRECTION. it is a big loop that starts out going west from the initial brazier.

This wq is the worst and buggiest i've ever seen, as soon the zone name changes i lose my flame, which is literally in about 20 places if you follow the path. Shadowlands world quests are the WORST

Hi all

On This WQ You need to Runnnnn. Yo uneed to do:

Press on Brazier of Challenge 50 55 and you will get The Torch of Challenge 40 sec to get to next Unlit Brazier of Challenge ( you need to do 5 of them ).
Every time you press on Unlit Brazier of Challenge your The Torch of Challenge will refresh.
Cross all the time yellow spots. That will increase your moving speed but stay away from Slimelet that will slow you down and can fail your WQ.

If you lose the flame random is not because if bugged is because you fail, don't touch the purple slimes on the ground, they are there you just didn't spotted them yet.

Activating the nameplates for all the mobs render much easier to avoid the purple slimes.

Can confirm this quest is bugged. Randomly dropped my speed buff without touching a slime, now I can't interact with any of the braziers to restart it. It's almost as if we need beta testers to test things before release.

Is there some way to stop other world quests from popping up as I go by? I suppose I need to do all the others first? A big banner comes up in the middle of my screen and I can't see the slimes and fail from hitting them.

Update: On a different toon, the torch timer did reset each time I lit a brazier. So who knows when it will or will not reset.

I found that when I first light my torch, I get 40 seconds of torch time counting down. The speed circles on the ground do not help the torch timer at all, it keeps counting down. The speed circles simply help you get to the next brazier before the 40s torch expires. When you light the next brazier, the torch timer stupidly does not reset to 40s. So if you get to a brazier and light it with torch time left, just sit there until your torch timer expires. Then light your torch again on the brazier you just lit. Now you once again have a 40s torch to go to the next brazier. Annoying to have to pause at each brazier to get a new torch.

Don't touch a Slimelet crawling along the path or it immediately puts out your torch and also gets rid of all speed bonus.

Absolute fcking dumspter fire of a quest. Did it once, wouldn't let me see the speedups this time, 30minutes playing with graphical setting, turns out they appear when I leave travel form...

Then, doing quest quite quite easily, slimes relaly easy to avoid, excep the one being attacked by a mob that didn't appear until it hit me.

I'm so p1ssed off at so many stupid and buggy and obscure quests this expansion, Some designers need sacked. They're just awful at their job.

EDIT, for some reason, I have to do TWO circuits that time. This quest and so many others are cancer.

Not the first, and I'm sure not the last SL quest I'll avoid forever. Maldraxxus is getting as stupid as Rivendreth when it comes to dailies. I already avoided Riv. Looks like MalD is gonna be the same. /shrug

Not seeing it in the comments but does anyone struggle to do this WQ with a trainee? I couldn't figure out why I was losing the torch randomly despite doing this wq many many times. Then I realized my damn trainee is hitting slimes and that's knocking my torch out. I swear I've done this with trainees before though...

Well, i didnt know why, when i was running the speed points disappeared from the road, so like revendreath, avoid things, in this case avoid hitting the slimes when you are running, that worked

I think this WQ finally fixed. Apparently there are purple slime on the ground now which you need to avoid.

I assume the bug was that we couldn't see slimes...

If, like me, you suddenly make a mistake after months of wondering how anyone could possibly make a mistake in this super-easy WQ, here are a couple things to note:

1. To re-light your torch, you have to use a brazier you ALREADY LIT. Clicking around on the current brazier (no matter how many dozens of times you click and no matter how many times you ran slightly away, then ran back, and no matter how many sides of the brazier you tried to touch, nor how many nearby NPCs you tried to get guidance from, nor if you logged out and back in, nor how many dozens of minutes you searched Wowhead fruitlessly) will not relight your torch.

2. When you finally figure out how to re-light your torch, the track does not look like it has for months. Suddenly you're kinda on your own. Some braziers showed on my minimap as highlighted circles like normal, and some did not, and some appeared just as I was passing them. My trusty minimap was suddenly quite unhelpful.

Anyway, once you've made a mistake, everything will spiral out of control and you'll feel like you are being gaslit. (Not really a pun because you simply cannot appreciate a pun at this low point in your life.) Perhaps you'll miss another brazier and "fail" again and be forced to meander back to an already-lit brazier. Perhaps you'll barely miss a brazier and turn around to grab it and run over a stupid purple slime and have to lumber back AGAIN to the previous brazier, head low. Perhaps you begin to cry and wonder how it all went so wrong...

And then next time, you're back to normal and wondering how anyone could possibly make a mistake in this super-easy WQ.

I notice everyone else does this going clockwise, but I do it going counterclockwise. I'm not a communist or anything. That's just how I started doing it. So, FYI, both ways are an option.

If you came to wowhead to figure out what in the WORLD is going on with this quest and why you are failing it even when you are clearly not hitting the slimes the answer is almost always : You have an appearance changing effect on. Noggenfoggers, savory deviate delights, appearance toys, they all bug this quest out severely. If you want to do this WQ just strip those things off and run it with just your normal character, no shapeshifts of any kind.

The two most annoying things about this quest...

1) Druid forms / Ghost Wolf forms don't work when clicking on the fire (and there's no message telling you that you can't use it while shapeshifted)

2) Knowing that you shouldn't step on slimes (there's nothing that really tells you this)

I think i finally have figured this out. All the braziers seem to be lit except for 1. You light your torch, the lighted boots will appear. Follow them, avoiding all purple slimes in your way, Run through each boot and every time you approach a lighted brazier, stop and relight your torch to keep it going. You will eventually reach an unlighted torch and that is the one that you have to click on to get the 5 clicks necessary to complete. Do not step on ANY purple slimes.

I must me a noob or something, it took me 5 tries before I realized the speed buffs were NOT the braisers I needed to light. Once I started clicking on the right things it was pretty easy, even with my trainee trotting behind me.

My Unholy DK got stuck at 4/5 as well. Ran it 3 times, no slimes stomped, no joy. Came here to check; I had no appearance-changing doohickeys, but once I dismissed my ghoul and my construct "helper" it completed after one more slog 'round the course.

UTTERLY NEW TO SEEING THIS QUEST
Managed it anyway. Partial thanks to everyone above.

Pretty sure because of all y'alls notes, if I'd tried to work out coords while running it, I'd fail so abyssally the Jailer would take over Orgrimmar personally.
announce by Draka is a fair distance away from the starting point. Had to search minimap to find its golden circle.
pull camera angle outward a bit.
Turn graphics up if you normally keep them low.

BEFORE YOU TAKE THE FIRST TORCH
familiarize yourself with the look of three things.

A. Little purple slimes. They don't move very far, but AaAaAAAGH don't squish the plague deviser's lil buddies.
B. BRAZIER/cookpot where you are about to get the torch. It looks NOTHING like an olympic flame, but you're going to see more of them. Depending how your graphics are, they may have a faint yellow outline or sparkles.
C. Yellow/gold CROWNS on the ground with what looks like a trap circle around them. Mouseover calls them the roar of the crowd and they are your speed buff.

Got your eyes set? Okay NOW take your champion-hand to the starting brazier.

For me the speed buff yellow things was also my only clue where the heck I was going.

Gnome mage so bigger is no big.
No speed buffs of my own before starting. (I think. I didn't pay attention to my conduits or anything.)

I dodged all slimes (ground wiggles),
grazed or walked through all yellow-circles (ground buffs).
Stopped at each brazier-with-outline-and-mouseover name without reading it and glowy-handed the thing, then looked around for the next yellow spot.

Draka told me how dexterity and cunning are valued skills.

When you're doing this quest, it's important to run deosil. It's terribly bad luck to carry a flame in the widdershins direction.

I don't know why for so long noone mentioned how to speed it up on some classes. Every class using passive speed buff will have their quest speed accelerate more ie. bm hunter with cunning pet and pathfinding talent will run with over 240% speed (standard for this quest is 200%) Here we go:
Rouge - stealth with nightstalker
mage - use blink on cd
warrior - heroic leap on cd
hunter - as mentioned above cunning pet and pathfinder talent (this one and druid is fastest class for it)
druid - cat form
shaman - ghost wolf (spirit wolf talent = faster) - (NEED TO SWAP TO HUMAN form before you refresh flame - otherwise it will not refresh - then you can change back to wolf)
monk - use torpedo on cd but be carefull not to go throught slimes otherwise u'll have to start over.
dh - fel rush same as monk
ALL CLASSES with night fae - blink on cd
ANY other active speedup ie: netherwalk (DH), wraith walk (DK), WILL NOT speed you up and what is even worst with quest speed buff active if you use them you will slow down.

~~TACTICS THAT CURRENTLY WORK~~

position camera slightly overhead of oneself and zoom back a couple notches.

find the one brazier that's already lit before you start this.
decide which direction to run the ring

THEN
glow-hand the brazier

DON'T PRETEND IT'S A RACE
IT'S A CHECK FOR HOW WELL YOU WALK

walked onto each yellow crown in the loop,
STOP WALKING to hear the swoosh
then keep going
using purple slimes presence not to step on them, but to know where the loop is to run.

keep an eye out for the giant empty cauldron, glowy-hand it to light the brazier.
keep going.

at the 5th one it should give you the completion.

The key is to just keep going. If you try to read your torch buff the DISTRACTION slows you down enough to miss. If you make a wrong turn on the walkways getting back to the track will lose you the time. Just DON'T GET LOST and you'll be fine.

I set some keybinds to favorite camera angles. If I could name them I'd call them videogame-side, videogame-overview, and blizz-stop-with-the-fear-camera-aready (the one that puts it back to my preferred view in combat).
