To complete this quest you need to confront Amarth the Harvester with Thanikos.

Talk to Thanikos to flight to the quest location, there is Thanikos Spinerender you need to defeat.
Amarth will run off so you need to talk to npcs to get back to the Temple. This quest is actaully the last one required for The Path to Ascension.
There are also Follow the Path and Necrotic Wake: A Paragon's Plight will be unlocked, the first one leads you to the next zone and the second - to the instance nearby.

If you are in a group and someone kills it, you may be stuck in their phase. You may need to drop group or become leader to see the mob.

As of 24th November 2020, this quest is bugged for me.
The first time I've tried to complete it, the NPC wouldn't teleport me back.
The second time only the cinematic played and Amarth did not spawn.
The third time I skipped the cinematic and no NPCs in the area got spawned.

I've submitted a bug report and a ticket because this quest is part of the campaign and I'm currently stuck on it.

L.E: 8 tries later and I could complete the quest.

My GF seems to be stuck on this part as well. We where partied up and i killed the guy and took a ride back but she was unable to. when she mounted the npc that was to fly her back didnt do anything and the npcs killed her. So she dropped the quest one time and redid the kill, mount the dude for a flight back but he just stood there and npcs killed her again. now she dropped the quest while she was dead still and now she cant redo the quest and is now stuck on the temple of courage bc there is no way off.

Quest Name:	Start and description
1 Steward at Work	Use Summon Steward to fix the Beacon of Invocation 53.2 46.8 then press on in to activate. to finish quest go to 52.8 45.7 to On Swift Wings just wait for him xD.
2 On Swift Wings	Speak with On Swift Wings They will take you to next location. Go to 55.8 42.5 to finish quest.
3 Kyrestia, the Firstborne	Speak with Polemarch Adrestes will be a movie.
4 The Wards of Bastion	Go to 53.9 77.2 and check all Wards by pressing on them. move back after you will done.
5 Imminent Danger	You need lvl 53 to start this quest. Speak with Cassius to take you to the Temple of Courage during fly will be a movie.
6 Now or Never	Speak with Thanikos and kill all mobs coming out.
7 Rip and Tear	kill mobs untill 100%. You can do this quest together with Stay Scrappy and Fight Another Day
8 Stay Scrappy	You need to collect Anima Conflux 40.8 52.3 Archonic Resonator 39.5 49 Eternity Plating 39.7 52.6
9 Fight Another Day	Freed 6 Disciple of Courage from cages you dont need key.
10 Clear as Crystal	Drain Necrotic Extractors to empower the Anima Conflux. Just press on Necrotic Extractor - large purple crystals to charge to maximum. You can do this quest together with Double Tap
11 Double Tap	Fill mobs and use on their bodies Archonic Resonator you need 12. then move to 39.7 55.2 to finish bout quests.
12 The Final Countdown	First kill Marrowmaw then jump on Centurion Colossus and use skill 2.
13 A Time for Courage	Speak with Thanikos they will take you to new location. Will be a Video then you need to defeat Thanikos Spinerender after few sec Disciple Apolon will come just jomp on him and you will run away.

Well, this was disturbing. Imagine how it must've felt, being merged with other bodies and turned into a bone monstrosity while still alive and conscious. The way his voice changed when he screamed his third "no" only added to the image. I wish there were more emotion-evoking quests like this.

This quest bugged for me. I was unable to fly back to hand the quest in.

If you abandon the quest you are ported back to the other side and have to redo it. I tried to redo it 4 times but the npc I needed to kill wouldnt spawn.

However I found a solution! You must let the cinematic play out fully without skipping and it should fix the problem with this quest.

Just did this quest on my DK and something strange happened. Everything seemed like it was going fine, the paragon and I were killing Thanikos Spinerender, cool cool cool... He dies and the scripted speaking starts, aaaaaaand Xandria turns around and attempts to kill me. Luckily for me the script was still going and she flies away as normal, all the while still swinging at me "hold me back" style. Not really sure how this happened but the only thing really different then the other times I went through this is casting the DK Kyrian ability "shackle the unworthy", turns out she's not worthy. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This quest is terrible. We basically run in to "help" the Paragon and the fight ensues. Then the Paragon runs off and the Disciple says "let her go, she will be fine on her own". So we basically get Thanikos killed for nothing.

This quest can be AFKed. Simply talk to Thanikos to start the event, and go brew yourself a delicious cup of coffee. By the time your coffee is done, the event is also done and you can interact with Disciple Apolon to return to the mainland and turn in the quest.

so weird, it wont let me "escape the necrotic wake". The NPC never showed up so i am stuck. Tried jumping off just to be tp'd back to the necrotic wake.

Description

I know not what awaits us across the chasm, outsider. By the Archon's grace I hope that my Paragon yet lives, but I fear the worst.
