If you have difficult to find Valuable Salvage move to another location in Maldraxxus.
If you lost Chordy for some reason use Call Chordy.

Sometimes Chordy won't show you the whole way to the item, but just look around and you should find something sparkling nearby

Highly recommend finding an open, flat area to do this quest on. Chordy is a trained mountain climber and will run up a near vertical cliff to find a piece of salvage in an inaccessible location.

I was able to do this entire quest while mounted, including looting items and sending Chordy off to find them.

Not sure if this is intended, but saved me a lot of time.

For some reason Chordy's Lucky Nose doesn't show up for me. The button is simply not there so now stuck on this quest. I'm not using any addons.

I encountered the issue where I couldn't use the item, so in chat I had to type:
/use lucky nose
this worked for me. note there is a cooldown between uses, so you have to wait until he stops glowing by his feet before the command will work again.

I went to 53.5, 40.5, which is a large flat area outside of the Theater of Pain. Use the ability there and Chordy usually doesn't go too far, and, since it's flat stone, it's much easier to see the small, sparkly node you click for the quest item.

I know this might sound silly, but it worked for me. Click the "special action" button and don't move until he finds the item.. Got it done in about five minutes.

Very buggy, Chordy went up mountain sides that I could not, most of the items he found did not count towards the quest.

This item can be used in Oribos etc, but it does not give any quest items there, seems like you have to be in Maldraxxus for that. I did however get some rare abomination stitching items by making Chordy search in Oribos.

Seat of the Primus works pretty well, just hop in the transportation network portal and you've got a nice big flat roof to work with.

It seems as if Chordy does not uncover hidden salvage. Instead, he basically spawns some salvage in a random place when you push the button - sometimes on a mountainside - then runs to it. It doesn't seem to be a 100% chance that he'll spawn salvage.

In other words, it probably doesn't matter where you do this quest as long as it's flat and there's no mobs.

So this is kinda dumb, but kind of amazing when you consider the NPC.

Make sure you're in the area it wants you to be in, and point the camera down before hitting the search button - he can't do it right when you are looking.

The bridge over the Iron Trench at 50, 60 is a pretty nice place to spam Lucky Nose, as Chordy usually just runs in a straight line to your N S E or W on the bridge

The relevant NPC Chordy can be found at the location: " /way 55 68 Maldraxxus ". (For TomTom users).
My best and easiest find for the quest items (10 Valuable Salvage) is to walk around the Butchers Block (Stichting era), and command Chordy with the respective command.

When you find yourself walking to steep walls/ objectives you can't pass?
Move a bit away in any direction, just away and reclick the command to find valuables, Chordy will now 9/10 times walk in a different direction.

It took me an average of 10 minutes to do it in this area with roughly 20% being useless Salvages (those do not count for the quest).

Hope this helps for anyone wandering where to farm this weekly quest objective.

Anyone else having the shinies either not appear or disappear when you approach them? It seems like a phasing issue (that happened with herbs in Bastion for a while). Didn't use to happen for me on this or similar Chordie quests but has the past couple of weeks. Bastion version I couldn't collecting anything, Maldraxxus version is letting me collect 1/2 of them (finally started working regularly). I wonder if the the same things happens sometimes to shinies and flower because they are both collectible items you gather from the ground?

This quest is severely buggy for me. I ran all over the zone trying to get this to work and never once did he look for any salvage. Nothing popped up for me at all. I just abandoned it and am skipping this part of the campaign. So far? I really dislike Maldraxxus as well as the Necrolord covenant.

Input this into the command line or Paste to make salvage easier to see:
/run SetCVar("graphicsGroundClutter",1)
/run SetCVar("Contrast", 100)

And to revert to Blizzard defaults:
/run SetCVar("graphicsGroundClutter",6)
/run SetCVar("Contrast", 50)

Confirmed: Accept Quest, the make macro /use lucky nose. Lucky's nose pops up in action bar and is a pain to find, the macro is just faster. I did this all on the roads. The quest only takes minutes to do, the bloody research took longer.

for those that say he doesn't do anything, when you first get him you get an icon that looks like a treasure map to add to your action bars called lucky nose you have to click this to get him to search my main isnt undying army and when i got around to this character i had forgotten about the action button and wondered why he wasn't searching

This quest is awful imo, I would much rather do archaeology than rely on a &*!@ing *!@#$%^ like Chodie. So many of the artefacts just wouldn't count for me and I was doing it on my own - wtf.

An easy, safe location to do this quest is at the Challenger's Promenade. There are no mobs to worry about, and it's a reasonably flat, open area. Just don't send Chordy looking for salvage too close to the walls of the outdoor arena, or he will find some on places you can't land... but if you stick to the areas closest to the road you can get it done easily and quickly.

A great place to do this quest is the Seat of the Primus Overlook. If your covenant is Necrolords, there's a portal from your sanctum; otherwise it's the "lap" of the huge statue of the Primus that contains the sanctum.

Mount up at 50.4 70.8; if you don't have coords handy, it's where the walkway from the portal to the platform at the front of the overlook has two points extending from the walkway. Use Lucky Nose to send Chordy searching but don't follow him until the shiny appears. You won't dismount when you pick it up. Go back to your starting point and send Chordy out again. No mobs to worry about and Chordy doesn't "find" a shiny halfway up a wall, easy peasy.

Fly to the top of a mushroom. Mount up. Hit Lucky Nose. Count to 3. Fly straight up about 30 feet. Fly straight back down (your sit key works great for this). Look around for the shinies. They should be in very close range.

Whenever you wonder how badly implemented quests like this could pass QA, remember that Blizzard obviously doesn't have such a thing.

You can report this via the "report a bug" feature, but besides venting your frustration (which is relieving, believe me, try it!) in my experience it doesn't do squat.

My favorite part is when he runs up a steep ledge like he's a Skyrim horse and you can't follow him without Flying....and the Salvage is gone by the time you get there on foot/ground mount. On that note, you can cast Lucky Nose while mounted, but if you Fly Chordy will quickly despawn.

The most luck I've had with this is going to a flat platform like the one at 32, 39 at the Ossein Foundry above where Hannibal pats through. Short place to run and chordy will find a shiny almost every time.

Use the portal inside the Seat of the Primus to take you to the top of the Seat, or fly up there.

Use Call Chordy action button next to the quest, then walk around and type /use lucky nose <- that will make Chordy smell out the items needed.

You can do this anywhere, but HIGHLY RECOMMEND being on a large flat area.

Best place for me /way 40.40 62.32. on top of the tower, it's flat, easy to spot them and he wont go far.

Fly to the top of one of the Theater of Pain (outside world, not instance) towers. You get so many, so quickly!
