You can do this quest that requires 2 pages in one run, if you do both medium areas in the Vision. Not sure if boss is needed as well, I managed to do both medium areas and the boss in one run and finished the quest.

Can the same corrupted area be done in 2 different visions to get each page (for example doing the trade district twice)? Or do you have to complete the trade district and the dwarven district to get the 2 pages?

You do not need to do the last boss for this quest to get credit. You will obtain two Torn Pages if you kill two bonus objective bosses (one page per boss). I failed a Vision after killing one bonus objective boss and got one page. Ran it a second time, killed the same bonus objective boss as the first vision + last boss and got the second page.

Apparently if you have one page and then manage to do two lost areas and score two pages, you can only loot one of them. The other vanishes into the aether.

For anyone doing the 4 Torn Pages version of this quest for rank 9, doing a full clear does NOT get you all 4 pages, you still only get 2.

This was all pretty unclear to me. You do the first five levels of the cloak just by killing the "boss", so I was kind of expecting that. But once you get this far good 'ol Lazy Blizz just adds a requirement for two pages, not one like before. And you get these new pages from the "Corrupted" areas.

So there's a bunch of things with this.

When you look on the Visions map you'll see that the two Medium/Corrupted areas are available to do now (ie. your cloak can handle it). So either one of those two Medium/Corrupted areas will give you one page in the chest when you finish.
Because like me, you haven't done this yet. What you don't know is that you'll see a chest when you finish for each area you did some damage in. So you'll see the "boss" chest like before (with gear if you killed the boss) and a chest for each area that you did some damage in and a page if you finished that area.
The "boss" (either Thrall or Alleria) chest will not give you a page. So, while it's nice to kill them, it's not your primary objective here
In fact you don't need to kill the "boss" at all. You can just finish the two Medium areas, get your pages in the chest when you zone out and you've succeeded.
Anyone (other than Blizz it seems) knows that all classes/specs aren't created equal. So depending on your class/spec and your gear you may not be able to finish both medium zones in one try. That's ok, just finish one, get your chest at the end (and your page) and do it all over again. The next time you can still finish either of the two medium areas for your page, so if you want you can do the same one over. The only bad thing about this is that you'll need to buy another Vessel of Horrific Visions, which of course is the whole point of Blizz adding multiple pages (they want you to grind and grind and grind...)

Edit: So got the 4 page version of this quest... (laziest game designers ever...) You get this 4 page version once you get level 8 on the cape. Once you got the 4 page version I don't think there is any option but having to do it twice, since I could barely handle the medium areas + boss. However the map doesn't have the warning for doing the Hard/Lost areas anymore, so maybe it's possible. But it will likely require two runs and two of the Vessel of Horrific Visions. If you're one of the worst off specs/classes you may actually have to do it 4 times.

Edit: So you get a 4 (changed to 4 from 6 in hotfix on 5/18/2020) page version of this quest once you get level 9 on the cape... You can see how slowly I am progressing on this as now it's just getting stupid and boring. I do this maybe once every two or three weeks.

*** So you use this quest to level your cloak up to level 11, to get to level 12 you finally get a new quest: Walking in the Darkness. This quest sends you into the Lost (Tier 3) zones, so my assumption is that up to this point you aren't meant to go into those. But I tried a few out and even beat them beforehand, so it can be done.

The correct terminology for the areas:

Tainted (Tier 1) — this is the starting zone for players and it has the lowest rate of Sanity drain, at 6 Sanity per second.
Corrupted (Tier 2) — there are 2 Corrupted zones in each Vision and these are a step up in difficulty from the Tainted areas, draining 8 Sanity per second.
Lost (Tier 3) — the Lost zones are the most difficult zones, draining 12 Sanity per second.

Not sure if this will help anyone or not. But I'm doing this on a bunch of different classes/specs and you definitely see the class imbalance. So far the classes I'm having the most problem with are Shadow Priest , Feral Druid and Enhanced Shaman (anyone who has played these for any length of time will not be surprised). It's not that they can't do it, but it's just harder and you're likely to not do as well (like maybe getting only 2 pages instead of 3 on a single run). Of course this all matters on your gear too.

I'm only doing dps, no tanks or healers. My understanding is that tanks can do this (you'd have to make sure you have a ton of sanity as you aren't going to burst anything down) and it's not doable on healers. Which is bad news for priests since they only have 2 healer specs and the spriest dps spec.

I've been really disappointed with the guides I've read on this. It's PVE, they should go into enough detail so there are no questions but they don't even come close. A few pointers:

It's something new for Blizzard, so if you've noticed every time they do something new it's buggy and not well designed. This is no exception. Be prepared to be frustrated. Adds will aggro from far away, shoot through walls. You'll be knocked all over the place and stuck, you'll be in corridors where you'll completely lose your camera view and be unable to see anything. And my god the rng...

Here's an example: In Valley of Wisdom with Madness: Split Personality up and fighting Voidcrazed Hulk. When Madness: Split Personality activates around you, Voidcrazed Hulk can use Punishing Throw to pick you up and throw you (which stupidly causes the 3 second stun to happen from Madness: Split Personality) and then Explosive Leap will appear around you, causing you to lose 60 sanity when he lands on you. And there's absolutely nothing you can do about it because you're stunned. And to top if off you can be thrown to areas where you're stuck, where your camera view changes so you can't see how to run out and away from the Leap or Split Personality, etc.
Potions... I've pretty much given up on them. The only potion I look for is the +Sanity one. You can tell that by finding the potion that removes Sanity (guides will give you a pic of where to find that in SW and Org). So the minus sanity potion will always have a plus sanity potion as an opposite. Those +Sanity potions will give you 100 Sanity so you want to look for them while playing.

As you proceed through the Titans Console things will get much easier. Those guides who tell you you can do all 4 areas with your cloak at Level 5 are utter BS. This is a good example of why these guides done with the PTR are stupid. So don't let them get you frustrated.
One of the most important Titan Console traits is Elite Extermination. You'll want to time killing the few Elites so you most benefit from the 200 Sanity.
Once you get to the last item on the Titan Console (Gift of the Titans) things become super easy. I'm assuming this is in preparation for the Masks. So try and get to this as fast as you can, don't try and fill out the bottom tiers first. Between this buff and the fact your Cloak will be at level 12+ by then will make it so you can do the entire run and possibly not use a single Sanity Restoration Orb
As things become easier you will notice there are 4 possible buffs you can get (only 2 will be up at a time). They are for versatility, critical strike, haste and a straight damage buff (for example). You may want to get these depending on your goals. The way they're setup there is one possible in the Tainted zone and one in the Corrupted, it'll be random as to which ones are up.
This is not scaled at all, so the better geared you are the easier it will be.

I hate that these missions are so badly described. I went into the indicated area (the dwarven district), set an detonated the explosive. So then what? There's no other marked objective on the map except Alleria. So I defeated her and ended up with only one page.

...wtf...?

Even thought the quest log for rank 10 (when you have a rank 9 cloak) still currently says:

0/6 Torn Pages of "Fear and Flesh"

As of the 19th (NA) and 20th (EU) May 2020. I can confirm you only need 4 to turn in the quest. Even if greyed out.

Each area will give a page. I completed 3 zones for 3 pages, then 4 zones for 4 pages the next week.

Please let me clear up some confusion about this (these) quests to collect "Torn Pages" based
on my observations.

There is more than one quest called .
The 1st quest is to collect 2 Torn Pages. (Rank 7 Cape)
The 2nd quest is to collect 2 Torn Pages. (Rank 8 Cape)
The 3rd quest is to collect 4 Torn Pages. (Rank 9 Cape)
The 4th quest is to collect 4 Torn Pages. (Rank 10 Cape)

Each quest works the same way.

You can collect only 2 torn pages per run which uses 1 .
You can collect all 4 torn pages the same day provided you have at least 2
. This will require a minimum of two runs and you
will have to complete both corrupted zone requirements. You can keep doing the
quests over and over even on the same day as long as you can afford to buy
the . There is no "cap" for the day or the week.

Collecting the pages has not so much to do with killing "bosses", rather than they have
everything to do with completing two particular zone requirements. That does mean, yes,
you will be killing at least one "boss" per zone, but that's not all you have to do to fulfill the
zone requirement to receive the reward.

A Horrific Vision has 5 zones and each zone has zone requirements in order to reap your
reward in the form of a chest at the end of the vision.

1] Main Boss zone (killing the boss ends the vision and gets you the smallest chest)
2] 2 Corrupted zones (completing earns you one medium sized chest per zone)
3] 2 Lost zones (completing earns you one large chest per zone)

For the Stormwind Horrific Vision the only two zones you are interested in for these quests are the
Dwarven District and the Trade District. For the Orgrimmar Horrific Vision the two zones you are
interested in are The Drag and The Valley of Spirits.

Each will earn you one medium sized chest containing a torn page. Completing both will earn you
two medium sized chests for a total of 2 torn pages.

These two zones are called "Corrupted Zones". Each one drains 8 sanity per second.

When you are working on this objective, ignore the main boss, unless you have enough left
over sanity after completing the two main objectives and you just want to. It will earn you
some but has nothing to do with getting your torn pages.

To earn 1 torn page from the Dwarven District, you must complete these 4 objectives:

1] Defeat 3 Brainwashed Gnomes (near the entrance)
2] 8 Explosives Placed (marked on the minimap)
3] Explosives detonated (marked on the map)
4] Defeat Therum (main boss for the zone)

To earn 1 torn page from the Trade District, you must complete these 3 objectives:

1] Defeat Inquisitor Darkspeak (1st boss for the zone)
2] Defeat Slavemaster Ul'rok (2nd boss for the zone)
3] Rescue 8 Captives (marked on the minimap)

To earn 1 torn page from the The Drag, you must complete these 4 objectives:

1] Defeat Annihilator Lak'hal
2] Speak with Garona
3] Check Buildings for Survivors
4] Defeat Inquisitor Gnshal

To earn 1 torn page from the The Valley of Spirits, you must complete these 7 objectives:

1] Zekhan assisted
2] Enter the Valley of Spirits (Defeat Decimator Shiq'voth)
3] Zor Lonetree Freed
4] Witch Doctor Umbu Freed
5] Terga Earthbreaker Freed
6] Sian'tsu Freed
7] Defeat Oblivion Elemental

If you complete both of these objectives in one run (Dwarven District & Trade District for Stormwind or
The Drag & The Valley of Spirits for Orgrimmar) you will be rewarded with 2 torn pages. If you only
complete one or the other objective you will only get 1 torn page. If you die or loose your sanity, you
can keep trying it again as long as you can afford the .

Each time you re-enter the Horrific Vision, all the zones reset. This allows you to do it over and over
until you collect all of your torn pages. There is no daily or weekly limit. Some folks refer to this as
"cap" or "lock out". Nope. As long as you have the keep going as much
as you like.

If you have 3 torn pages towards your quest requirement and enter a Horrific Vision, you cannot get
more than one torn page. Likewise, if your quest requires 2 torn pages and you already have 1 and
you enter the Horrific Vision, you cannot earn more than one torn page.

There is the basics you need to know.

Glad blizzard is getting rid of this rubbish and hope never to ever have these types of quests again.
Timed quests when you lose insanity due to damage and having stupid debuffs that also help you lose insanity is a stupid mechanic and not fun at all. Especially when you fight through lots of trash then run out of sanity.

This quest is bugged to oBLIZZian!.. Twice I tried to do it, as a Fire Mage geared 184ilvl. & I cleared ALL the mobs on both zones, as well as the 3 required for the quest, little dude says to set the explosives & the barriers wouldn't come down, no way to click through..I eventually died on the first attempt despite still having 3 sanity regens.. my sanity just bottomed out with no chance to click one. The second attempt, the same was happening & then suddenly I was able to get through a barrier while I had gone back to the second zone, I had 1 sanity regen left (I was able to use them this time), but mobs I was killing insta respawned or had their health reset before they died & it would allow me to use my last regen.. so I sanity died again.. 20k in visions wasted!
