The objective of this quest is to turn on all the cells near the obelisk.
Rules are pretty simple and clicking on a cell will switch state of nearby cells.
Here is a hint i usually used

Turn on every cell on the edge, ignore the middle cell
Turn on middle cell and it will turn off 4 other cells
Click on left and right cells and this should turn on all 5 cells.

Something like this:

The objetive is to fill all five spaces

If all slots are empty:

Click on left and right cells
Click on middle cell
Click on left and right cells again and this should turn on all 5 cells

To clarify, clicking one cell will change the status of the cells touching that cell. If the cells around it are off, clicking it will turn them on.

Once you learn what each cell does, the hardest part of this event is other players just clicking cells at random..

the goal is to get all 1-5 turned on at the same time.

Follow these steps for all four sides of the collector, and you're done! Everyone nearby (including other faction) will get credit.

NOTE! You can also turn OFF lights. Seen too many people not realising that, even after having checked this very page on Wowhead apparently...

I noticed two days ago that one section was fully "on" and they were not interactive.
It looks like one section might, sometimes, be an indication of what they want for the other three sections.

Using the information from yatima and others here, I made an addon called SolarCollector (now on CurseForge) to assist in completing the objective. I hope it will be helpful to the community.
