You will need to use the essence Petrified Ebony Scale which is an item in your bags in order to add it to your list of available essences in the forge.

Does anyone know what Magni says on this quest if you talk to him while the quest is still grey/unfinished?

I always read the "unfinished / fail text" on quests to not miss anything, but I accidentally powered up the heart first and now I cannot remove the quest from the quest log to check it out.

Any help on this would be appreciated as I cannot find this info anywhere.

This quest will also instantly raise your Necklace to level 35 if it is under that.

You need to complete Back Out to Sea before you In Darkness.

If anyone gets stuck with the second objective of the quest after already placing the essence, Unequip and re-equip The Heart Of Azeroth Necklace.

Funny how my alt's quest progress after using essence says "65535/1 Essence infused into Heart of Azeroth". Wow.

If you are stuck on this quest at the last step (as I was) then consider the following. The petrified ebony doesn't appear in your bags except when you use it during the quest. Then if you have done everything you stand on the forge and click on it (a book icon appears for clicking). The HoA display opens with a place in the middle for you to infuse the essence. This is where I got stuck since I had no essence in my bag.

On the right hand side of the HoA is a list of "essences" of which only the top one should be lit up indicating that it exists.
You click on that "essence" and your hand/pointer gets the luminous blue look. This is where I got stuck. I play on a mac and I had to ctrl-click to get the essence highlighted (not the usual command-click I would expect). So if you can't click on it, try a different modifier key (alt, shift, ctrl, command).

Then you click on the black center of the HoA and you are done, unstuck etc. etc.

A lot of people have had problems at this stage, judging by the comments you can find if you search. Personally, I think the quest and displays are poorly designed. There's no reason the quest item can't be in your inventory and be used like 99.9% of other quest items.
