Do not enter the Saltstone Mines looking for Shaw.
You need to be in the cave called the Screaming Pit, entrance at 48,33.

I had to complete a nearby world quest, "Put away your toys" for Shaw to appear in the cave.

Look for the waterfall in the camp. He is in a small cave just to the side of where the waterfall begins to cascade down (above the camp).

Master Shaw was not in the cave - I could not see him. The credited; I found him, but still I could not see him. I run out of the cave and simply logged out, logged back and run back to the cave. Shaw was there and the dude was there. I killed him and followed Shaw just out of the cave. I could turn in the quest outside of the cave.

The Cave Entrance is located at 48:33 right at the top of the waterfall

Ride west across the valley from the quest giver towards the mine.
Go up the path to the right of the mine entrance.

Follow the path to your right, along the edge,
then it curves back behind boulders to the left. Very short distance.

The pool that feeds the waterfall is just around the bend.
The cave with Shaw is on one side of the pool.

For me this quest has a major bug. I always get one of two outcomes: 1) Shaw despawns immediately upon killing Deathstrike or 2) Shaw just stands there. Leaving and coming back restarts the fight sequence, but again, Shaw just stands there. I've dropped and reacquired the quest 6 times now and the results are always the same. I've logged out, exited the game, logged out of battlenet, disabled all my addons... no results. Anyone have a working solution?

Edit: Not sure if it's related, but after porting to Stormwind, disabling War Mode, dropping and reacquiring the quest, it finally managed to complete as intended. Maybe this will help someone who's also stuck in the cycle.

I had a lot of trouble getting this quest to continue. Game master helped me out.....turn off warmode, abandon quest and pick up again. Worked like a charm, no problems!

On October 21st 2020, I couldn't see the enemy inside the cave.
I would get autocomplete on finding Shaw, without seeing him, but entering the cave would despawn the enemy.

What I did, after extensive searching and no result, was to reach the location without flying.
Went to the start of the hill leading to the cave above waterfall, got my mount up, and "walked on ground", despite having a ground mount.
It worked like a charm after this (I also logged out previously, after numerous failed attempts to make it work).

Description

Hmm. Shaw said he'd check in when we got communications back but he hasn't. He's probably run into the same trouble the rest of our spies did. I'll stay here and guard the listening post. You find Shaw. He was headed for the cliff above Warfang Hold near the top of the waterfall. The peons called that area "The Screaming Pit" for some reason. I bet it's a real pleasant place. Stab whatever he's fighting for me, okay?
