There is quite a trek along the coast to the final area containing the ships. I wouldn't waste time on any of the Horde Jellyfish (?) en route, simply get there as fast as you can. There are plenty of Horde Jellyfish (?) to kill once you reach the port.

One cannot help admire the tactical genius of Mathias Shaw: "The Horde expect an attack above the water. So we're going to attack them under the water!"

This tactic did not seem to work out as planned, as the area is positively seething with mines, Goblin sub-saboteurs, and swarms of the new Horde secret weapon, their Horde Jellyfish (?).

Horde ships are NORTH of The Necropolis on the map. Along the way you should see many hostile mobs for your quest %.

The bugs I experienced (void elf, not sure if allied races or just bugged myself out):

- No quest markers/zones on the map
- My player reticle would not move and was still on the spot where you pick up the Sub
- I saw ZERO hostile mobs as I went to the ships..... I could destroy the ships but didn't get any % towards completion

If this happens to you, simply right-click and "Leave Vehicle" - you'll be teleported back to the original spot and can pick up another Sub.

EDIT:
Note: you should see the quest markers on your map if your vehicle is not bugged out. If you cannot see the quest zones on your map, right click the icon and "Leave Vehicle" to pick up another Sub.

I was on the Submarine part of the quest chain after completing 4 of the attack points. I abandoned it, but then it put me back on the 0/4 Horde points, but couldn't complete since I did them already.

Right click the sub and leave, DO NOT ABANDON this quest at ALL!

As an additional note to the excellent comments other people have already left ...

The Horde flagship can't be sunk until you've destroyed all 4 gunboats and the 2 battleships, so don't bother sitting there attacking it for a while like I did. Once the gunboats and battleships are burning, it becomes targetable and you can finish that part of the quest.

The sub saboteurs, mines, and jellyfish eventually add up on a 0-100% scale. I don't think the exact numbers of each that you destroy matter, it just has to be "enough."

This bugged out for me at first. I was able to travel over land (way faster than by sea) and kill the gunboats and battleships, but didn't see any jellyfish or depth charges. There were also no POIs highlighted on my map to tell me where to go. I left the vehicle and was able to reenter and second time worked fine.

Travel counterclockwise around the Nazwatha docks. You need to go through three quest zone boundaries on your map before you get to the zone with horde ships.

Right, so you start out running up the Nazwatha pier killing a few mobs on the way, get to the sub and then shoot the electric octopus and bombs under water, you'll reach 100%.

Next part of the quest is in the waters around The Necropolis, don't waste time hanging around Nazwatha.

Bit of a trip around the coast, avoid or shoot mobs on the way (but no benefit to kill if reached 100% on the way) once in the waters around The Necropolis, shoot down gunboats first, then the battleships, then the flagship.

Use your big bomb on the big ships, it looked like busting a mine near a ship did them extra damage but not 100% sure about that.

As of this patch 8.1.0 this quest gives you loot for your class, not your specialization.

Maybe they changed the quest, but this was much easier than everyone makes this out to be. The most helpful steps (in this order): 1) do any 4 (FOUR) world incursion quests around the temple and pier area (North Nazmir). 2) Go to the dock at Nazwatha (Northeastern) part of Nazmir. 3) Just follow the directions from there. One other helpful tip, you must use the big bomb (button 4) to destroy the flagship vessel. Easy peasy.

Turning off addons helped me finish this quest. I use ElvUI and about 80 other addons so I can't tell you which one it was preventing the quest objectives to appear on my objectives list.

Pretty standard tank & spank fare until you do the Azerite grab & sub missions. If there are a lot of opposing faction types on the Azerite Q at the same time it can be a major pain & time consuming. Don't worry about the big blue crystals so much, they're only worth 5%. Take out the elementals it's a quicker route to finish.
Now the sub...what a pile of s**t this is. I'm sure there are full size battleships that are more easy to move around than this! Another example of poor in game mechanics. Once you have mastered the way to dive, surface & target, simply take out a load of jellyfish (don't get too close, they zap you), Goblin swimmers & depth charges. When you have the 100% head off to torpedo the enemy ships as per the map. Get as close as you can to them & simply fire away. 1 hit for the small ones, 2 hits for the Battleships & 1 big bastard for the Flagship.
This is not a hard Q, simply a frustrating one, & if you're already over 370 on all your gear & don't get a (highly rare) upgrade, a fairly pointless exercise to boot. Hopefully the person responsible for designing the RNG protocol for these events was 1 of those laid off in the recent job cuts.

Since you can't avoid making this assault. I do not recommend making it when it pops! It simply takes too long to reach the 100%, with so many players at the same time!

Absolutely horrible quest. Worst of all the assaults, by far.

I fired several big rockets (action button 4) into the last Flagship but nothing happened. 1 min recharge timer. Not until I came here and read the comments saying you have to aim at the bottom of the flagship did I finish it.

Battleship = medium sized ship.
Gunships = small boats.
Horde Flagship = the biggest ship

Kill count is high and mobs give very little %.

You need to do the ships in order, first the 4, then the 2 and then the last big one, you wont be able to shoot any of the others until the group is done. It is important to shoot them underneath, but I found it is also important where you shoot, I did not get credit until I hit the front part (still underneath). Normal rockets for the first 2 kinds of ships, then the big one for the last one.

I thought I saw someone got an Achievement that completing this was part of, but can't find it now in Achievements list or linked from here. I think it was for completing all the invasions. Anyone know which one it is?

EDIT: Found that it was Frontline Warrior; under Quests > Battle for Azeroth.

If all the other boats are burning and you are still unable to sink the battleship; leave your submarine (leave vehicle) - DO NOT abandon the quest as you will need to redo all the quests again. You will need to travel all the way back to the ships again but you'll be able to actually blow up the battleship first try.

After reading the comments here and on the official forums, it is disappointing that people still do not understand this quest. Killing Jellyfish and destroying mines gives higher percentage to the completion of the "forces slain" portion of the quest. But to the part everyone has trouble with...

You absolutely have to destroy the Gunships and Battleships BEFORE you can destroy the flagship. And, when you are ready to destroy the flagship, you absolutely must go underneath and use the ability under action button 3, Brass Bolts Special (I believe) on the BOTTOM of the flagship.

Follow this and it will take longer to get your sub to the ships than to complete the entire quest.

This quest wouldn't be so bad if it was located nearby all in one area, but the fact you have to travel over half the entire zone in a slow submarine is just ridiculous.

Not sure if this is change to the quest but when I picked it up there were 4 world quests in the area. Doing those counted toward progress on this mission. After those are done you go to the end of the pier and board a sub. 4 abilities on the sub, small torpedo, flame vents, speed boost and large torpedo. Use the small torpedos on jellyfish, mines and sub saboteurs as you make your way to the gun boats, One torpedo will take out a gun ship; kill 4 of those, then on to the battleships, take out two of those; takes a few torpedos or one large one. Then you take out the flagship. One big torpedo should do it.

After completion you will be tasked with returning to Boralus to turn in the final quest for completion.

Don't make the mistake of thinking you can go to your doctors appointment first and then come back and turn in the quest. If the invasion ends in that time, so does the final hand-in apparently.

Dove underwater. Killed Jellyfish. Blew up depth charges. Got nauseous and took a break. Came back and sped as fast as the little sub would let me over to the four tugs, two larger boats and 1 huge ship. Blew them up. Horribly designed quest. 0/10 would not invade again. Horde can have this place.

For the "enemies slain" portion, just torpedo all of the mines. The soldiers aren't worth the time.

The idea of the quest is just fine. It just lack a proper description on how to achieve the objectives. If there was an NPC on the pier who gave you a few hints that would have covered it. It's better than jumping on an airship filled with mobs that you have to kill while being stressed by other players.

I think WoW developers are not playing their own game. If they played the game after adding that quest, they would delete it from the game immediately.

What in the world was the logic behind a 1 minute cooldown on the most important ability that is the most difficult to hit with?

It's beyond a shadow of a doubt the absolute stupidest thing that's been designed in this game for quite some time.

Ok a few simple tips for this:
- after u pick up your submarine head straight for the north of the Necropolis (check map)
- first phase is to kill jellyfish, mines and saboteurs (divers)
- next phase is to kill the smallest and medium sized boats using your basic torpedoes (number 1)
- last phase is to use the special torpedo (that has 1 minute cooldown) to hit the biggest ship which will kill it in one hit
- both types of torpedos seem to have *!@#e range so be close to your targets.
- if you approach mines they will do nasty damage to your submarine
- if you leave the submarine you get teleported to the spot where you first entered submarine (useful if the quest bugs out and u gotta restart it).

Fair warning, last stage of quest to nuke both battleships and the flagship bugged out for me. Would not count at all, from any angle, using the biggest nuke. Asked in general, tried suggestions. Tried everything short of dropping quest. Finally someone invited me to group, and *their* nukes counted for me, allowing me to complete the quest.

I have still struggled with the last phase:
- you need to travel along the coast, to the west, to find the ships.
- kill whatever you can on the way
- all ships (small - gunship, medium - battleship) were destroyed by using the 1st skill (normal torpedoes), at the back of the ship, from below
- the big ship, Flagship, can be kill from below using the last skill (with 1min cd)
