The Whicker Charms are hanging up high, from the house and the crow's nests around The Aviary.

Using the whistle (quest item) will bring up a targeting UI. Aim the yellow circles at a Charm and press 1 to release the bird and score.
Targeting seems to be fairly forgiving in that you can aim the circles slightly above or below the Charms and it still counts. However aiming behind the target does not seem to count even when the bird flies straight through the Charm.

Entering combat will interrupt targeting.

To complete the quest you have to destroy few wicker charms using Falconer's Whistle.
They can be found on crow nests and above the house. Use whistle to target charms and release falcon.
Mobs break your targeting UI, so try to avoid them to complete the quest quickly.

Use Falconer's Whistle to get into falcon's view.
You'll have one ability, use it on wicker charm hanging off the structures.

For those of you who may get frustrated trying to target the charms, and don't want to watch a video, I found the best place to stand was just outside the fence over where the 3 falcon cages are all in a row (back of the field). Clear the area first, as aggro will cancel your falcon. When you click the item to call your falcon, use both mouse buttons to guide the targeting stream by dragging your light-stream up with your mouse until you're right on the wickering charm and it creates a sphere on it. Then release your falcon.

Just clicking the icon for the falcon already targets the light-stream pretty high, but not high enough for many of the charms on the buildings and other structures. Just clicking both mouse buttons lowers the light-stream. But dragging the light-stream up puts it exactly where ever you want it.

The NPC Inquisitor Notley disappeared once I fired the cannon. He didn't reappear until I'd completed the other Corlain quests. I don't know if this was a bug, or if it's supposed to happen this way.

This quest sucks ass. You don't even get a chance to aim without a mob immediately spawning and interrupting you. Horrible design, just horrible.

Simple explanation

AIM (up or down) AT THE SHINY ITEMS ON THE POLES ATTACHED TO THOSE YELLOW NESTS.

Best spot:
- On rocks behind the barn (where the cages glow) 4/7 ( you have to be inside the zone)

Wait for items to appear.

Intensely annoying quest. Happened to be an overlapping world quest going on in the same area, so ten thousand people around and all the mobs respawning constantly. Was extremely difficult to stay out of combat for ten seconds to try and use the whistle, and generally I could only get one shot off before I had to fight half a dozen more...

I'm really not sure what drugs these programmers are on, or how sadistic they are without the drugs. BUT, in an area that has a lot of mobs, this item can NOT be used while in combat. And for some reason, when a Monk is using their Black Box (or whatever the Monk told me it was, draws mobs to it) it keeps ME in combat even though I've not hit a single mob in 10 minutes. Seriously, why put a restriction on ANY item like this. IF I'm in combat the mob won't let me use it in the first place as they're hitting me. IF I'm stuck in combat, no one hitting me, no one looking at me, I STILL can't use it.

I don't think this is a case where the programmers are intentionally screwing with the players. I just think it's a case where the programmers didn't think the entire thing through. Apparently, not the sharpest knives in the drawer.

This may be obvious to everybody else, but you can raise the stream by using your mouse. Press down on both right and left clicks, you lower it. or you can use the mouse to drag the stream upwards.

I'm just gonna go ahead and state the obvious for anyone who is as dumb as me and was getting frustrated by this quest..

For some stupid reason, I assumed you had to be near the guy (since he's hiding near a rock) to use the whistle and launch the falcons, which was infuriating because from that vantage point, you can barely hit 3-4 of the cages. You can actually move about anywhere to get a clear shot and use the quest item whistle from wherever. Maybe obvious to most people, but there are some special folks out there like myself who just plant themselves where they're standing and try to complete the quest from the worst possible spot.

Using the quest item does something very weird with the in-game camera, at least on OS X.

After you stop using it, the camera is on long-distance follow mode, with severe lags on turning, making combat extremely difficult. Death doesn't fix it, but a re-log does.

OK this is ridiculous. I was able to get 5 of 7 from where I get the quest, but nowhere else does it work, I have tried from the middle of the circled area, from outside the area, nowhere does it work - you launch the falcon and it comes right back, no way to get the last 2 charms. Frustrating.

Possibly the oddest quest I've done in Warcraft. Having a falcon loaded on your shoulder like a bazooka and shot off at a witch's wicker. And the screeching, very odd....

Not required for the Drust Do It achievement.

And as other comments mentioned, the NPC phases out after you fire the canon. You just have to finish the other quests, and you'll see that you'll get Drust Do It without completing this one.

Easier way to do this quest, use a small size mount, like Lucky Jun or Mollie. Any raptor or horse also works. Walk to 33,51 27,43, at the left side of the cave entrance. You'll notice there's a ramp at your left that ends in a big tree. Go around the tree and stand behind it, at 32,88 26,23 to jump to the next rock. From there, not only you'll get a perfect view of the entire zone, but also if you hit the big house from behind it will count as a score. You will be completely alone, no mobs in the area, so you won't have any trouble to complete this quest. Just note if you move a couple of steps backwards, you'll be out of Corlain Aviary and you'll exit the falcon cannon. Just walk a couple of steps forward and you'll be back in the area. I uploaded a screenshot so you can see the exact spot where you must stand to complete the quest.

Description

I've found where those evil witches have been tainting our falcons! You see those charms? <Notley motions toward the high perches and roofs nearby.> They're using those to infect our flock with their evil magic as they hatch. I think Winston can get up there to take out the charms, but someone will need to direct him. I'm not quite healed up enough to take on a whole camp of falconers. Can you help?
