Heroic leap to the mobs channeling the wind and kill them.

Be wary when you first make the grand leap down from Skyhold. In my experience about 10% of the time the flames do not envelop you and you free fall to your death instead of landing gloriously. Good idea to have a Goblin Glider Kit ready just in case as it does allow you to survive in the event of a glitch.

1. Legacy of the Icebreaker (Scenario)
• Accept the quest, Legacy of the Icebreaker, from Odyn at coords 58.6, 84.0 (Skyhold).
• Travel north to coords 59.0, 26.6.
• Speak with, and follow Hruthnir when you are ready to travel to Shield's Rest, in Stormheim.

Stage 1 - The Sealed Tomb
• After landing, follow Hruthnir toward the Tomb, to 84.8, 8.2, defeating the mobs of Rattling Dead, on the way.

Stage 2 - The Disturbance
• Defeat Pillik
• You will be changing positions each time Pillik casts Retreat!

Stage 3 - Crypt Crawl
• Enter the Tomb of the Old Kings at 83.8, 9.5.
• Fight Reylar the Stormcaller, shortly after entering.
• Interrupt Crackling Lightning.
• Neutralize the Swirling Storms as you enter the tomb, but use caution as they will revive, casting Storm Nova in about 10-15 seconds.
• Make your way along the "windy" corridor to 58.3, 53.8,
• Defeat the Spectral Windshaper on the sides of the "windy" corridor, as well as at the end.
• After killing the third, and final, Spectral Windshaper, continue to the passage at 53.0, 57.2.
• Use your Heroic Throw on the Swirling Storms, at the door.

Stage 4 - The Confrontation
• After the cut-scene, enter the doorway ahead and follow Hruthnir inside.
• Speak with Hruthnir when you are ready to proceed.
• Magnar Icebreaker will jump down and attack. Defend Hruthnir, by tanking Magnar Icebreaker, and any of his soldiers that approach.
• Sidestep when he attacks with Penta-Strike
• Move away when he casts Bladestorm.

Stage 5 - The Greatest Warrior
• Defeat first the Spectral Windshaper, that blocks your path to Magnar Icebreaker, and then defeat Magnar.
• After defeating him, Magnar Icebreaker will finally be ready to listen to reason, and will move on to the Halls of Valor.
• Prior to departing, he will leave you his shield.

Stage 6 - Armaments of the Black Wyrm (Final Stage)
• Collect the Scale of the Earth Warder, located at coords 50.0, 81.7, to claim your artifact weapon.
• After obtaining the artifact, Scale of the Earth-Warder, step onto Odyn's portal (located where the artifact weapon was), and use your Jump to Skyhold ability (extra action button).
• Once at Skyhold, travel south to the Great Mead Hall at 58.6, 84.0, and turn in the quest to Odyn.

Just a funny note: somehow, after defeating Magnar I managed to Heroic Leap through the left staircase, where I plummeted into an endless void under the level before getting disconnected (twice!). Thankfully, after my second relog I found myself teleported back to the entrance of the tomb.

This is a scenario to obtain Scale of the Earth-Warder - protection warrior artefact weapon.
To start the scenario talk with Hruthnir. Scenario has 6 stages:

Find the entrance to the Magnar's Tomb. Just follow the path down.
As you come closer, there imps spawn and you have to slay Pillik
When entered inside the Tomb, use Heroic leap or charge to reach mobs that channel wind that blocks your way. When found the door to Magnar, use heroic throw onto lightning spheres.
Speak with Hruthnir to start the fight. During it you have to defend him. If die, dont worry, Magnar doesnt reset his hp. Also Hruthnir cant die too.
When Magnar jumps up, slay mobs that block your way by wind or wait until Hruthnir does. Then defeat Magnar.
Take Scale of the Earth-Warder and get back to Odyn.

Make sure you don't talk to Hruthnir in Skyhold while you're mounted (if you've unlocked Legion flying). I ended up in Shield's Rest, but I was flying above the normal landing point. Hruthnir wouldn't talk to me, none of the Rattling Dead spawned along the path, and Pillik ignored me. I had to leave the scenario, which teleported me back to Skyhold (still mounted, even though I unmounted and ran all around Shield's Rest before "leaving"). Dismounted, spoke to Hruthnir, and everything worked properly.

If you die while fighting Magnar, he may decide he's defeated anyway and you will get credit, so don't release right away.

Description

The greatest warrior should wield the greatest weapons. Long ago a great king, Magnar Icebreaker, wielded weapons crafted from a scale of the mightiest dragon in the land. He should be here, but he is not. Instead he languishes in his tomb. His son, Hruthnir, is here. He will lead you to the tomb. If Magnar can be saved, do so. Either way, return with his weapons.
