The reward vs. effort of this quest is very disproportionate - and for players that already have a full set of heirlooms that were grandfathered in to the new system which already go up to level 90 the reward is useless.

The devs should add a Timeworn Heirloom Scabbard to the rewards for this quest. This is fair considering that this requires collecting 25 Misprinted Draenic Coin, and would make this quest worth it for older players.

Edit: Apparently a follow-up quest has been found (The Same, But Different) which does give the 90-100 upgrade, but at a cost of collecting 50 coins - even more disproportionate. For most people that already have a full set (or a set they really like to use) of 1-90 weapons, this means effectively that it'll cost 75 total coins (25 here and 50 on follow-up) to finally get a worthwhile upgrade. I don't see many people actually even trying to complete this series of quests, and its very bad quest design to make a quest that almost no one cares about completing.

I haven't been getting credit for this one atleast I didn't when I queue'd for H BSM and I'm pretty sure I didn't the day before. Has anyone else experienced issuesl like this? Does it only count if u do a "random Heroic"

It seems you can only get them through doing random heroics.

First off, apologies for spamming across all pertinent quests.

Part of the quest series to reward Heirloom upgrade tokens from doing random Heroic Dungeons in Draenor (first one of the day, per character).

Start with Mystery Notebook, turning it in to Estelle Gendry in Undercity who will then give the quests (in order, listed for convenience):
Numismatics which rewards Ancient Heirloom Armor Casing after turning in 5 Misprinted Draenic Coin.
Completionism which rewards Timeworn Heirloom Armor Casing after turning in 10 Misprinted Draenic Coin.
A Curious Oddity which rewards Ancient Heirloom Scabbard after turning in 25 Misprinted Draenic Coin.
The Same, But Different which rewards Timeworn Heirloom Scabbard after turning in 50 Misprinted Draenic Coin.

Some things to note:

You only get Misprinted Draenic Coin from the first random Heroic Dungeon each day, and they seem to drop 1-5 (usually 2 or 3, though) coins.
Even if you have any of the collection quests completed but NOT turned in, you can still get coins in the Heroic Dungeon. That is, you queued and went in, THEN realized you haven't turned in one collection quest and received the next – not to worry, you will get coins!
This might not seem like a lot, but for people with multiple characters grinding away, you will notice your heirlooms "leveling up" fairly quickly.
In fact, you will continue to get coins even after the final quest – which is NOT repeatable. (source: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/16412041719?page=4#78)

Correct. They have no use once you've completed the final quest.

This quest is still available in 7.1.0, but be warned that this is the first in a quest chain that will be impossible to complete unless you visit the EXP Annihilator for your faction. The quest chain is as follows:

Mystery Notebook
Numismatics
Completionism
A Curious Oddity
The Same but Different

These quests require you to run Draenor Heroics dungeons, with the first each day giving you a chance at coins. If you do not stop your EXP, you will reach level 101, and be unable to complete the quest line.

As these quests reward Heirloom upgrades which will save you a lot of gold, I highly recommend halting your level until you have completed them all on your character. Slahtz for Horde, Behsten for Alliance.

So I noticed I was 24/25 on this quest and I hadn't received coins in a bit, so I came here to look it up. After reading the comments, I was like, "Oh well, guess I'll never complete that." But today I did a random Legion Heroic at 110 and received a coin. So I went to Undercity turned in the quest and accepted the next one and it said I was 2/50. So maybe the tooltip's wrong, maybe it's bugged, who knows. *shrugs*

Well sweet pea, I have good news and bad news for you. The good news is that you brought me enough coins to complete this new misprint set! The bad news is that not a single one of them has matched the original partial set.

See here - this coin has two heads. And the face on the reverse is grinning at me, where he was looking so dour only an hour ago. This one squints when I shine a light on it. Such a mystery! I must have more!
