Tried to solo as a lvl91 Feral Druid, did not go well. He does alot of damage and hits very fast, biggest hit was 16389dmg.

Soloed him with pretty little effort as a Ret Pala. 560+ .
If you need, you can use your Garrison Spell to call for help :D

Solo'd as ilvl 528 warlock - he did hit voidy quite hard, but used my garrison's call to arms and easily burned him down.

He doesn't have that much more hp than any other "special" mob, fx the boss in the arena or the ogre king, but he does hit somewhat harder.

I seriously don't know why this quest suggest three players. I was at a very low ilvl (460) and solo'd him pretty easily. I did use the Garrison Call to Arms spell as suggested above and it worked nicely. I posted a screenshot that includes the dudes from my Garrison.

Wow...as a Feral Druid this is not possible to solo. He can 2 shot you if you get close. Guess they knew some would need 3 players.

Soloed this boss as an Arcane Mage, ilvl 514. He's not hard for ranged people, since we can get away from his devastating attacks. That being said, I just pop Alter Time, Arcane Power and used Arcane Barrage/Arcane Missiles until he died. Was a really short battle.

The trick to this one is to use your 'Call to Arms' and get your garrison to assist you.

The garrison ability did not help at all. They got burned down by this guy in seconds. My level 91 shadow priest had NO hope of defeating him. He hits HARD. Very hard to cast spells when you are only about 56k hp and he hits me for around 15k a shot even with my pw:shield ability up.

Soloed as lvl 91 enhancement shaman. Used Earth Elemental to taunt him for one minute, the fight lasted maybe one minute and 15 secs, and I survived on cca 3%.

Solo'd him as a ilvl 428 ret pally. Pull him and instantly call your garrison, they will ocassionaly take the aggro off giving you chance to run the circle and kite him. Keep in mind your garrison will die very quick so you need to pop everything immediatly. When your garrison dies, pop divine shield so when he still lives as the shield wears off, you still have around 90% of your hp left to finish him.

Ok, since I came here looking for help finding him and the only posts are "I soloed him at..." I figured I would provide the following information:

Gutsmash is at the top of the tower at
I recommend you use your Call To Arms Garrison ability.

I managed to solo this guy as a level 91 sub rogue. After a couple horrible attempts in my old gear, which was a lot of gemmed pvp items, I switched so that my gear now included the quest rewards I got after entering the WoD zone. This brought my item level up to 456 and my armor to 226 with 52200 health.

So here is how....

Sneak up in stealth, (get your buffs on first- juicy carrots and a WoD agil potion for me), then while steathed, target boss and unleash your garrison, then vanished, giving the garrison ability a couple seconds to get aggro.

Opened with ambush (boss is immune to all stuns), a couple backstabs and eviscerate at 5 combo points. Spam backstab, Hit evasion (macroed to a MoP 12k health pot for a heal) hit recuperate for a semi decent HoT, spam back stab until he (hopefully) dies before I did. I finished at about 25% health.

I think the most important thing I did, was equipping my new gear for the extra armor (such as it is on a rogue) and health.

He still hit like a loaded Mack truck, but the extra armor and health was enough to keep me up until he died.

Note: as stated, in my old pvp set he pwned me royally, had his way with me, and smoked a ciggy while laughing over my battered corpse while I was ghost running back. I could hear him laughing from the graveyard! Either that or it was my ears ringing irl from the beating my character took in game. LOL.

Soloed as a level 91 Balance druid, kited him round the bottom of where he sits and back up the ramp then drop of the ramp, this worked, I used the call of arms as well. Use travel form to run up the ramp after dropping of and then burst until he gets close the rinse and repeat.

As of patch 8.0 he hits even harder due to zone scaling. I just barely managed to down him on a Prot Warrior with Garrison Ability and Touch of the Void trinket. Taking Blessing of the Wolf at the Shamanstone also helps give some extra pecks to down him. I have yet to see any melee dps that can take him in this current patch due to his hard hits. If anyone has done so please comment so I can update. Thank you! ^.^

After taking about a year off of WOW I came back and things have changed. My item level used to be around 460. On my newest toon my item level is 134 with questing pieces at ilevel 138. I have six PVP heirloom pieces.

I made the mistake of landing too close to him and with one hit he dropped my health to 68% on my level 100 undead mage. I flew away, healed, and came back. His health is leveling as I level. At my level 100 his health is at 63,000 plus while I am at health 14,500.

I used my garrison ability, my mirror image ability which gives me three copies of me, my water elemental, and my follower Viviane. He killed all of us. Don't waste your time trying to solo him. It is no longer possible

8.3 soloed him with my 95 enhancement shaman.
Used bloodlust, earth elemental, call to arms, feral spirit and touch of the void.

9.0 he was taking 1/3 of my 49 feral's health bar per swing. Absolutely crushed my CTA NPCs with one hit each. Definitely not solo-able anymore. Shadowlands scaling has completely borked most elite mobs.

Soloable with a pet class but not sure about otherwise.

As an affliction warlock, used void walker and garrison ability. When void walker died, quick summoned him again. Was a close fight but possible. Not sure how other classes could do this solo other than, maybe, hunter.

Maybe this helps someone playing through Chromie time:

Soloed him as a 44 lvl frost mage with Bone Chilling, Glacial Insulation, Rune of Power, Chain Reaction and whatever last talent was.

I made sure to kill the boars roaming close to the ramp leading to the top, had my barrier up and waited for the CD to be ready again, popped Mirror Images, ordered my pet to attack and opened with Frostbolt, followed by Call to Arms and Icy Veins. I made sure to use Frozen Orb the moment he more or less was stationary to get as many Ice Lance procs as possible and when he switched to me I used Ice Block, allowing my pet to keep attacking him - the moment Ice Block was gone I blinked to the edge of the arena and jumped down - he follows you all the way down the platform, allowing you to get lots of spells cast at him - that allowed me to finish him and score the kill, hope it will be useful for someone, cheers. ^^

Playing in Shadowlands, post-level squish and zone adjustment, level 33 hunter with 34 ilvl, I came up this big dude expecting a fairly easy soloable elite. He crushed my ass in a few seconds. I spent the better part of an hour attempting him repeatedly, mostly out of pride. Garrison ability along with precise timing of Survival of the Fittest and Exhilaration left him with about 20% and my pet and all of the troops dead. Then I disengaged and Aspect of the Cheetah'd, kiting him down the ramp and I only just managed to kill him.

The rewards are not great and the experience is typical. He is honestly not worth the trouble unless you get an extremely convenient group in the area or are questing with friends or something.

Yeah this guy is pretty tough. Needed to swap spec to Blood DK to face tank him and did it in one shot - even then needed AMS and Lichbourne. Cool to actually have to think twice when trying to solo an Elite.

I logged in after years just to say that I couldn't solo this on a level 46 shadow priest in full heirlooms despite popping all CDs including the Garrison CD. I died multiple times. Apparently they nerfed the Garrison helpers at some point. It definitely makes a difference. I guess blizzard never thought about what might happen if people quested through this zone after it wasn't current content.

This guy still hits like a truck in Dragonflight. It took a few attempts, but I was able to solo him as a level 42 Fire Mage with the following steps:

Popped my Garrison ability
Activated Combustion
Activated Touch of the Void
Cast Pyroblast, which was a guaranteed crit with the Firestarter talent
Cast Fire Blast, which was a guaranteed crit with the Fire Blast talent
This proc'd Hot Streak and let me follow up with an instant Pyroblast, which was a guaranteed crit due to Combustion
I followed up with Phoenix Flames, which was a guaranteed crit due to the Alexstrasza's Fury talent
This allowed another instant Pyroblast, followed by a second charge of Phoenix Flames, then another Pyroblast, then a third charge of Phoenix Flames from the Call of the Sun King talent

This dumped a lot of damage on Gutsmash, but he was still not dead and he works through your garrison troops very quickly.
At about this point, he came after me, so I popped Mirror Images while kiting, made him beat through the Blazing Barrier I had cast before the pull, then a second Blazing Barrier I cast after he beat down the first.
I'm talented into Shimmer, so I kited while casting some Fireballs, fishing for Hot Streak procs.
After falling to 20% hp, I used Ice Block, which healed me for 80% of my hp due to the Cryo-Freeze talent.
While in Ice Block, Ignite continued to tick on him which brought him down to single digit percentages of health.
After that, I kited out the last of his health with another Blazing Barrier and Shimmer cast while spamming Scorch, which does boosted damage and always crits on targets under 30% hp, allowing some instant Pyroblasts as well.

The bulleted points above are the main thing that did it for me, though. All of that damage stacked Ignite high enough that he burned for a significant chunk of his hp while I healed and let my CDs come back up inside Ice Block.
