Simple "Fish Me Up" quest.

Head north from Anglers Warf to the beach. Aim for the hut farthest east (to right) of the beach. The river ends into the cove. Head up the river and pick you favorite fishing spot.

The eel seems to come up every 3-5 casts. Remember ALL trash fish are worth something in MOP. Bundle of Groceries are key to Replenishing the Pantry which gives easy rep and Ironpaw Token Ironpaw Token for cooking pros.

NOTE:
Hard to find a "Quiet" place with all the waterfalls. If you use sound enhancement as a fisherman its hard to hear the bobber over the waterfalls.

Tried doing this quest from Fishing 50 and didn't get a single quest mob after 26 casts (got Fishing up to 76). There's some minimum Fishing requirement you have to meet in order to complete this quest.

I have max level fishing and this has a low drop rate. Be prepared to fish for a while. Good news is that you can fish up alot of Golden Carp for the cloud serpent Fish Cake turnin.

My skill is at 593+120 (713 with buffs) and it still took me about 20-25min to fish up all 7 Eels in the open water.

I would say the chance to get an eel is about 15-20%. Not great but not dramatically bad for the daily.

I just want to confirm that it IS indeed possible to do this quest, no matter the fishing skill level.
I started out with 4 in fishing, got my first Eel on my second try. I am still at 1 Eel and have now gone up to 66 in Fishing. So it is possible, the drop rate just seem to be extremely low.

Edit: Got my 7th and last Eel at 213.

The best spot to do this quest is next to the horde camp north of Dojani River and it took me about 15 minutes. Good luck guys

If you fish in the lake up near Thunder Cleft you can often hear Leza Dawnchaser dying in labour while doing this quest. Which I think is less painful than the quest itself.

I have to say, to all of you who are here to express your distaste in the length of the time it takes to fish up the eels for this quest: As a true "fishing reputation", this more closely represents the time it takes to fish in real life, compared to game time that is.

I sort of dig it.

Be prepared to spend a while if your fishing skill isn't high. Started at 274 and skilled up to 300. Took about 40 minutes or so. Good luck . . . .

First 5-6 casts' got nothing attached Aquadynamic Fish Attractor and it took less than 5min... also fished up 2 sealed crates and a quest, Flying Tiger Gourami, in the process...FYI Im at max fishing and i used the Mastercraft Kalu'ak Fishing Pole, hope ths helps...

This quest is excellent if you are like me and have to force yourself to level fishing. However if you are 600 and have done it for the achievement already, I would bypass this puppy.

Just fished one up at level 64 fishing after about 20 tries. There is probably a scaling drop chance based on fishing skill.

I got this quest for the first time today after Patch 5.1. It took me about 5 mins to fish up all 7 eels, and it included me reading the other posts here. So it seems the drop rate is better :)

Wanted to also clear up something that has been alluded to but not actually said.

The reason that your skill effects how many quest item eels you catch is because you can only catch a quest item eel with another non-quest item fish (i.e. Emperor Salmon, Krasarang Paddlefish ect.) Your fishing skill increases your chance to catch a non quest item fish and each time you do, you have a chance to get an eel with it.

Starting at 548 + 80 Fishing Skill, I got these results:

9 Golden Carp, 5 Emperor Salmon, 3 Krasarang Paddlefish, 2 Tattered Cloth, 1 Driftwood, 1 cast that hooked no fish, and of course 7 Dojani Eel.

All Dojani Eel that I caught were multiple-catch fish, so that's 21 casts.

Dojani Eel (33%)

Other Fish:

Golden Carp (~42%)
Emperor Salmon (~23%)
Krasarang Paddlefish (~14%)
Tattered Cloth (~9%)
Driftwood (~4%)
No Fish hooked (~4%)

I ended with 551 Fishing. I will edit this post and add results as I get this daily quest again.

Starting at 588 + 90 Fishing Skill, I got these results:

18 Golden Carp, 3 Emperor Salmon, 2 Krasarang Paddlefish, 1 cast that hooked nothing, and 7 multiple catches (Dojani Eels). Total of 24 casts.

Multiple Catches (Dojani Eel): 29%

Other Fish:

Golden Carp (75%)
Emperor Salmon (~12%)
Krasarang Paddlefish (~8%)
No Hooked Fish (~4%)

I ended with 591 Fishing.

I believe I can confirm just at this point that they have a roughly 30% catch chance.

Eels can not be fished from pools, but are fished from the whole stream at any point -
Percentages are rounded down to the nearest hundredth.

While the drop rate is not great; if you grab the quest for the Order of the Cloud serpent, the one to catch the minnows, you can get both on the same cast and finish two quests simultaneously.

As long as your fishing is above 500 and you actually use a decent pole and lure, it's not as bad as everyone is making it out to be. Took 20 casts and less than 15 minutes for me to get all 7 eel. http://i.imgur.com/KzeU0Kc.jpg

Anyone else having problems with this quest in 5.2 ?

Most of the time I fish in Dojani river I get "there is no loot" messages when reeling in, and the rest of the time i just get regular fish. I wonder if it's bugged?

So this quest is a bit tedious but to help some of you with this quest I found a place that might be best to fish "Dojani Eel". For those of you who have Map Coords you can go to 63.13 36.50, there is a small waterfall where rocks run through it. I stood there fishing for about 15 to 20 minutes and caught all of the Eels needed for this quest. Mind you I had on Seth's Graphite Fishing Pole, which increased my fishing skill by 20, and I'm level 525 in my Fishing profession. Also, I didn't face the open water, instead, I faced north of the river. Not every catch gave me the Eel, obviously, but every fifth or sixth catch came the Eel.

Hope it helps and gives some hope to have a little patience.

Here's my experience on this quest.
I Picked it up with a 99 in fishing. No buffs and no pole equipped. I just clicked the fishing button on the professions tab of the spellbook.

1st eel at lvl 163
2nd eel at lvl 239
3rd eel at lvl 244
4th eel at lvl 271
5th eel at lvl 286
6th eel at lvl 293
7th eel at lvl 308

I wasn't expecting to level my fishing. I was however expecting to complete this quest in a reasonable amount of time as with most other quests. This quest took me about 2 hours to complete (steady clicking pole and lure). If I knew it would take this long I probably would have loaded up the truck and actually gone fishing with my son having a much better time.

I did however get 17 stacks of carp, 12 paddlefish and 11 emperor salmon.

I think this is changed a bit with patch 5.2, I've got first eel with skill level 48: no sculls, no failures, only Golden carps. Still need to check if drop rate is changed, too.

Leveled my fishing doing this. First Dojani Eel at level 61, and the second at level 116 (exactly the same level as a previous poster). You just fish. I have noticed that fishing level remains one up per fish. It trailed off after 100 last I did this and would be about 1 level for 2 fish. Third at 130, then it became 2 fish per level. Forth one came at level 170. Got my 250th fish caught achievement at level 190 ... exactly 2 fish per level starting at 130. Fifth caught at level 207. Sixth caught at level 229. Seventh and last one at level 239, and about 350 fish (330 golden carp).

All this to do a daily to get rep and a mount that walks on water for Thunder Island.

Spent 30 mins and didn't catch anything so i came here to see this quest torturing other players and taking 2-3 hours to complete. so i abandoned it and submitted a suggestion to change the drop rate. I will just keep abandoning/not accepting this quest until its fixed. 2-3 hours for a daily is not worth it. For now, i will just wait for it to change to the next one in 24 hours.

Be sure to submit your suggestions too, if you want to see it changed. Blizz peeps aren't mind readers and wont know its a problem until you speak up.

Safe spot to fish these at 65.6, 30.5 on the big rock. fished upstream. It took about 15 minutes and I caught a lot of crap, I mean carp! Be patient, they don't come at first but will after a few minutes. My fishing level is 415.

I found a good spot to fish with no distractions (other than Jungle Skitterers running in front of you). Go to 61.3 , 21.3 and you get a fish every 2 to 3 casts (at level 600). Also note, don't cast into sparkly pools or schools of fish, as you don't get ANY Dojani Eeels in schools/pools of fish.

Awesome quest! I picked up this quest so I could get +1 more fishing, and some VP. But after 10min. I had already +10 more fishing! ...and 1x #&@! Dojani Eel. So yea, decided to just abandon this quest. I got +10 fishing after all, mission complete...

What a great quest.

How many other fishing quests give 83 fishing skill for someone starting at 210? At least, that's what I got 45 minutes after I started, along with 156 Golden Carp, 3 Krasarang Paddlefish, 2 Emperor Salmon, the 7 eels for the quest, and a Flying Tiger Gourami for good ol' Nat. Of course, Blizz, knowing about my OCD, robbed me of 45 minutes of my life that I will never see again, but will not soon forget.

At least if you're Horde, there's a nice, quiet "bridge" (huge tree root) leading to Thunder Cliff where you can cast in peace and quiet.

Thanks, Blizz. It's great to know you care about leveling my fishing skill (*cough*).

I just started fishing today, and at 34 skill level caught my first eel. Did not get my second eel until 77. So for people looking to do this quest from skill level 1, it takes a while, but is certainly possible.

just did it again today ,skill is 490 + 80 from my Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat and another + 30 from Bone Fishing Pole so all together 600 with item buffs, got an eel every 3-4 casts so about 8 minutes to complete

I'm not sure if I got lucky (like, really lucky), or if they changed the drop rate. I stood near the boulder by the small waterfall, slightly east of Thunder Cleft (61, 23). The only "special" gear I used was my Dragon Fishing Pole gained from the Anglers, and my skill went from 530 to 537.

In about fifteen minutes, 4 Krasarang Paddlefish, 15 Golden Carp and 5 Emperor Salmon later, I had all seven eels. I'm not here bragging: I'm just here with the hopes that other people have found the same rate may have increased.

Edit: A day later, they offered the same quest, so I took a timer and made note of a few things. All told, it took approximately 8 minutes (I paused to gack a Zandalari Warscout, and the server briefly restarted), and I went from 545 to 551 fishing skill. Again, I used my Dragon Fishing Pole, and pulled out 23 Golden Carp, 4 Emperor Salmon and 5 Krasarang Paddlefish in the process.

It seems to me that they did, indeed, clean up the nasty wait time, so this quest is now most certainly bearable!

This quest is very UN doable for less than max fishing. You will level your fishing but you WON'T catch any of the quest item. I got a bag full of carp without a single eel and had other fish from pools without any eel. I even used a BLUE bobble that I had gotten and still nothing. If this quest pops for you and you are not max it is not worth wasting the time.

DOJANI EEL CANNOT BE FISHED FROM POOLS

That said, here is what I got:

In total, it took 128 casts, for me to collect the required Dojani Eel x 7 to complete this quest.

Others have posted that it is not worth it, if not at max fishing, but it CAN be done; AND it also helps to level your fishing at the same time. My fishing was at 250 when I started, and I ended at 305.

I received the Dojani Eel on the following casts:

#1 -- Cast 28
#2 -- Cast 39
#3 -- Cast 73
#4 -- Cast 81
#5 -- Cast 98
#6 -- Cast 113
#7 -- Cast 128

In total, I received the following items -- in the 128 casts that it took to complete the quest:

Golden Carp x 122
Krasarang Paddlefish x 5
Emperor Salmon x 1
Dojani Eel x 7

Alright, did this quest for the first time just before server maintenance today. Thought I'd throw my two cents in. My fishing skill is pretty low so I planned on being in for the long haul, took between an hour and an hour and a half and garnered me 42 skill ups from 284 to 326 took roughly 180 casts and netted mostly Golden Carp, in addition I also got about 20 of the other random fish. My skill is obviously pretty low and I didn't try any of the tricks listed, just sat there fishing in an open lake. Good luck everyone!

I did this quest today and even though it is rather irritating, it is doable. It took me probably twenty minutes total to catch all seven of the eels. I have a fishing skill of 560 with the Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat and the Jeweled Fishing Pole on as well. I caught in all 32 Golden Carp, 18 Emperor Salmon, and 16 Krasarang Paddlefish when I finally got all my Eels. Higher fishing skill is your best bet to finish this quest the fastest, also when I wasn't catching anything in one spot, I would move on to another and would instantly catch another there. Just completed this achievement with very little fishing showing it is possible. And chances are you'll want to level your fishing eventually so you might as well do it in conjunction with this quest.

What you need:

An empty bag, patience, and about a hour or more.

What will help:

Lure Master Tackle Box, Empty Golden Carp Container

If you've never witnessed a low drop rate before, you will now. Probably one of the most tedious quests you'll come across, but there are some benefits.

This quest will help you increase your fishing skill and help with cooking. You'll catch lots of fish especially Golden Carp, so having a Empty Golden Carp Container or two will help free up bag space. If you fish at or near any schools you may not catch any, but once the school is gone, your Dojani Eel. Also, once you've caught one, move to a different spot, it seems to help the drop rate.

I had Seth's Graphite Fishing Pole equipped, but I don't think that helped much.

Bring a snack. You'll be here awhile.

Started this quest with 75 fishing skill. After lots of fishing and running back to Nat to train fishing twice, I finally fished up the last eel at 236 fishing skill.

I could stock a small lake with all the golden carp I have now.

In the process of catching 7 Dojani Eel, I also fished up the following:

Golden Carp - 143
Emperor Salmon - 6
Krasarang Paddlefish - 4

Each Dojani Eel was fished up with another fish, so that puts them at a 4.57% drop rate. I didn't notice how long it took me to do this, only that I went from around fishing skill 250 - 311, and nearly fell asleep twice.

Some notes on this in 5.4:

The drop rate seems VASTLY improved. I never bothered with this quest in past patches after discovering the absurdly low drop rate, but needed it for the achieve so resigned myself to doing it at least once. Anyway, Shocking! has popped up three days in a row now and I've completed it within 40-50 casts each time. I have 600 fishing skill with no buffs used, and have been fishing the same spot every day: 63, 29 - at the waterfall.

(Bonus: fishing here has also netted me a Flying Tiger Gourami for Nat each day while completing the eel quest!)

1st time - Started at 1 skill, finished at 224, took 2-2.5hrs.
2nd time - Started at 224 skill, finished at 298, took 35 mins.
3rd time - Started at 339 skill, finished at 354, took 17 mins.

Drop rate for this quest is still bad. But good thing about it is if your fishing skill isn't maxed its a good way to raise it. So far on my first attempt my skill went from 383 to 404. I wish they had daily quests for your main professions.

I used my Anglers Fishing Raft in the lake close to Thunder Cleft and caught an eel with my first catch. Then I moved the raft to another spot and caught another eel in five attemps. Then again to another spot and again 1 eel in 5 or 6 attemps. This way it took me about 12 minutes to catch all 7. Same strategy worked catching wolf piranhas in Krasarang river. Drop rate about 20%

You are not prepared!

With maxed skill and some quality gear I sit at 743 fishing skill, takes me 3 to 4 minutes to complete.

If it takes you longer you either need to skill up or get some decent fishing gear.

Doing this quest with Level 1 Fishing is possible, just takes a while. I ended up with 364 Golden Carp, 2 Flying Tiger Gourami quests, and 10 other fish. And got to level 268 Fishing. Not sure how long that took as I was helping a friend in LFG, but it was probably at least 2 hours of fishing.

Started with fishing at 300 (because I forgot to train up. Oops), Nat's Lucky Fishing Pole, Sharpened Fish Hook. Cast #9 for eel 1, Cast #15 for eel 2, #16 for eel 3, #18 for eel 4, #31 for Eel 5 ("Oops. Forgot to rebuff my pole! ... that sounds dirty."), #42 for Eel 6, #44 for Eel 7.
I finished with my Fishing Skill at 317, having taken 46 casts to get the eels (and an extra because of habit, and that extra put me at 317), 2 buffs on my fishing pole, and about 25-30 minutes.

Out of 100 attempts got 94 Golden Carp, 4 Krasarang Paddlefish, 2 Emperor Salmon and 6 Dojani Eel. That's around 6% rate (in a small sample). Note every time you get a Dojani Eel you always get another fish.

As of patch 7.0 (Legion pre-patch) I caught my first eel at fishing lvl 76.

I was fishing at the edge of a waterfall (exact cords are: 65,30)

I was able to finish this quest in 7 minutes.

Started at Level 430 Fishing + bone fishing pole (+30) + bright baubles (+75).

Went to the middle rock over the little waterfall just northwest of Angler's Wharf, at the mouth of the Dojani River (per lxm10's advice).

Caught:

20 Golden Carp

moving around does not "improve catch rate" or any other such nonsense. Higher fishing skill helps the catch rate, but you can just stand on same spot and catch 2 in a row.

Stop spouting nonsense just because you did it once in the same spot and it took longer than when you moved, thats just the way probability works. Some times its faster and some times its slower.

I will say that I was wondering if the addition of special bobbers, improved fishing rods etc would help the drop rate of the eels but it appears that it does not. I typically need to cast 60-80 times for all the eels and after I sent an email ticket in they sent me here. Then, today it only took 52 casts! Wooo!

I told myself that Bliz wants us to enjoy the thrill of the catch and enjoy the calm serenity of fishing and watching water bugs skitter over our bobbers.

With fishing skill 800 it took me about five minutes to fish up those Dorjani Eels.

Great Quest for skill ups in Fishing!

First time through my fishing skill went from 137 to 288 before I caught my final eel. Fortunately the quest doesn't go away if you don't finish it in a day. It took me about 4 days to have enough time to catch all those eels. And be sure to take a break and go train when you get close to next level.

Caught 360 Golden Carp before I caught 7 eels. The next time this one rolls around who knows? I may max out on fishing.

I just added Bright Baubles to Fishing Pole and was in was doing fishing on 250 skill point till 281... did found the fishes about 15 mins, I hope this helps.

I was at level 323 fishing. Used Bright Baubles and sat in the walkway/trail underwater facing upstream (north of the mouth of the river). Took me 12 minutes to get all 7.

I started this quest with a fishing skill of 115, yes, very low to do this quest, but I needed to raise the skill up anyway, so time was not
wasted in my opinion. I finished with my skill at 264.
Items caught:
2x Flying Tiger Gourami/flying-tiger-gourami
132: Golden Carp
17: Emperor Salmon.

Started the quest at 75 fishing using a +5 pole and one +100 lure and a few +75 lures. Finished at 231 with all but a few skillups coming from this quest. I ended up with 194 golden carp, 7 paddlefish, 3 salmon and two sealed crates before I got the eels. That said, the eels came pretty quick by the end so getting above 225 (or 300+ with bonuses) did seem to speed things along.

You can fish it anywhere in the marked area, exept in the fish schools.
Very low chance until you get to exactly 600 fishing skill, including any buff (lure, fihing pole, etc). Then you get approximately one every other throw.

Been working on the Anglers for who knows how long and this is the last daily I need to do for the achievement. Still haven't seen it at least 3 weeks later.

Doing the quest Shocking! for the first time today. Not sure if they raised the drop rate or I just got really lucky. I'm level 85, using a +13 pole and a +9 lure.. started at level 19 fishing, caught my first eel at lvl 21 and the last at lvl 30. Only took 7 minutes based on the time left on the lure.

It actually took me 12 minutes to get all 7 of them and my fishing level is Draenor Fishing level 1... so timewise it was ok..

Fishing @ 64,20 returned 7 fishes under 30 casts. ( i'm maxed fishing level +33 bonus )

I don't know if it's been updated or it was just a good spot, but while this took me longer than some similar quests, it didn't seem to take as long as it took many others in the comments.

What I ended up doing was enabling background sound in the System settings so that when I tabbed out of WoW, I could still hear it. I worked on a work thing and just tabbed in and out to set and reel in my fishing pole. I barely noticed the time passing. In fact, I kept doing it for a while after. I'm actually doing it while I type this. I actually just hit Zen Master Fisherman after I finished typing the last sentence.

I went to 67.93, 29.56 at the Dojani River. I had an Oversized Bobber, but that doesn't have any effect on fishing skill. I started at Pandaria fishing skill 66.

I caught a total of 36 fish, broken down as follows:

24 x Golden Carp
3 x Emperor Salmon
2 x Krasarang Paddlefish

and of course,

7 x Dojani Eel

This comes out to a drop rate of almost 20%, which isn't great but isn't terrible. When I was done, I had only increased to Pandaria fishing level 74.

So my personal tips for this quest.
1. Always fish in the pool at the far north end of the river.
2. Always fish from the fishing raft.
3. Once you catch an eel move your raft a bit. (1-2 yds and change direction.)
4. Avoid the Big Bird and the Horde area if you're ally.

My personal best for this quest is 34 casts using this strategy. The benefit of it not being an auto drop is that you get more fish to level cooking with and I almost always get at least 1-2 quest fish for Nat.

I was able to pull out all 7 in about 10 minutes. No fancy tips or tricks. Just put line in the water.
