Once you accept the quest from Instructor Myang, run down into The Rumpus Pit which is directly in front of the quest giver. Once you are inside The Rumpus Pit, use your "Monastery Fireworks". This will give you a buff called "In the Rumpus" which lasts for two minutes.

You will need to stay alive in The Rumpus Pit until the buff runs out to complete the quest. There are a large amount of mobs that will attack you, however they only have 20K health each and go down fairly quickly.

After you have completed the two minutes, return to Instructor Myang to complete the quest.

FYI:
I don't know if it will help much, but I died with about 6 seconds left of the 2 minutes. I just stayed there dead and didn't go to the cemetery. I got the question mark from the quest giver then went to the cemetery. I ran back, resurrected, and turned it in.

I'm not sure how close you'll have to be to the 2 minutes...so it may be worth it stick around until time runs out.

I was mounted when I started the Rumpus using the fireworks. I stayed mounted and saw what was coming. So I ran back and forth between the two sides with posts. If you run behind the posts you won't loose your rumpus buff. I kept dragging the group back and forth like a clock, getting them tangled in the poles. I kept this up for 1.50 minutes only occasionally getting hit (not enough to get dismounted) until the real flood started. I got knocked off but used an ice block to survive the last few seconds. Super Easy! Lost 2K health in total as an ice mage.

my reps not high enough to up the comment but shortcuddy THANK YOU! I mounted and ran around for bit but got knocked off. Then summoned my doom guard and had my void out and just rain of fire'd everybody. Eventually I died but didn't rez. You can still see Myang speaking and she lets you know when times up. I got the complete and the ? then rez'd and ran back to my body to be alive. Turned it in and voila!

Unholy DKs get your plagues up and use pestilence to infect as many mobs as possible and then blood boil (probly wont have time for this on the first couple waves as they go quickly), then make sure u have death n decay available on the last fight and use the same strategy as stated with it (outbreak will be handy as well to quickly get plagues up). You always have Icebound Fortitude if u get in trouble. Wouldnt hurt to have a good health potion available and u can get a bandage in between the waves if u get low but bandage quick after the wave ends.

Affliction locks: after I died twice, I chose voidwalker and infernal after the first minute and then hit one less dmg button/healing potion/lifeblood etc after the other and finally made it. much easier on other classes.

There's, like, a 100 times easier way to complete it as DK, than to bother with AoE'ing. And 1000 times easier, if you have tank gear. Simply don your heaviest dodge/parry set of armor (helps, but not necessary - I've completed it in DPS gear) and keep mobs in front of yourself at all times. You will parry most of the attacks, to a point, that I didn't even bothered counterattacking, until Rumpus Brute's started to come in (partially because my Outbreak happened to be on CD, too). Then I hit a Brute with diseases and spread them with Blood Boil(through Roiling Blood talent), clearing off the low-HP trash.
At this point, I was roughly halfway through the time limit, with like 90% HP and already bored to death. I though "why not the hell?" and pressed Army of the Dead... Then, I just stayed there watching my Army dealing with their lots.
The time gap between my Army expiration and completion of the quest, I just parried all the attacks and waited again. A few seconds, and mobs bowing to me and quest is done.

Location is 39,23. As a Mage, it was a piece of cake. AOE took care of it very easily. There are groups, but they die pretty quick with little damage.

As a Pandaran Mistwalker I ended up with 100% health and 50% mana left. I had buffed with Serpent Brew of Serenity, Legacy of the Emperor, Elixir of Draenic Wisdom. Stance of the Wise Serpent. I summoned the Jade Serpent Statue and then just fought as normal. My main problem was keeping Mana up. Oh yes, my gear is just questing gear...ilevel about 390.

Did this as a blood death knight, realized they hit as hard as about 200, decided to stand there and see if I could survive the 2minutes without raising my weapon.

I was successful, and when I finally used blood boil it was glorious.

As an disc priest I found it easiest to just stand there, shield myself, and then chain heal me until the two minutes were up. Never was in any danger of dying.

If you die just lay there, do not resurrect, then wait for the timer buff to count down to zero and you're done.

It seems easier now, granted my toon was 86 but so would most others doing this quest if they were leveling.

There was no trouble at all, simply stand there and AoE the little guys and beat down the few bigger ones that come. As a feral druid, simply Swipe and Thrash and they would go. Barely got to start my rotation for the bigger guys. After a while I stopped and just stood there without healing to see what what happen, and when the timer ran out they all ran away.

This is very easy as a Brewmaster Monk - just drop a Black Ox Statue in the middle of the pit, and wait. When it gets low on health, resummon it. You don't need to defeat any of the challengers - just survive.

You can use the item while mounted, then just hover above the arena on your flying mount.

The Monastery Fireworks can be set off from a flying mount, and all you need to do is float above the battlefield watching the enemies fall into a perfect circle around you.
