As a level 80 rogue I haven't figured out how to complete this quest yet. My melee with no weapons equipped does almost twice their health pool.

Yes you need the targets at 35% health. Being a level 80... you one-shot them.

Easy fix? Strip of all your gear! Including rings, trinkets, etc. 1-3 swings of your fists and carefully de-selecting the target in time and you can get it done!

I was able to complete the quest at 80 by pairing it with Deep Mine Rescue. Dumass sometimes got a bit overwhelmed by the enemy attacks, but one tick off a heavy frostweave bandage had him back to full health, AND the bandage debuff went away the second he left combat.

As an 80 DK the only way I could do this without killing them (even when naked and using fists) I Chains of Iced the mobs from a distance and spam clicked the item. The mob may die anyway but as long as you get the cast off in time, it will still count for the quest.

Here´s how i did it as a retri paladin at level 80:

1) Took off a "+damage when attack" trinket.
2) Used retribution aura.
3) Taunted with Hand of Reckoning and let the aura do the damage.

Worked without any problems!

The shackled humans disappear upon logging out, though your credit for having shackled them will remain. Thought I'd mention it In case anyone else was hoping to leave the quest uncompleted and keep their human slaves around for a while.

Didn't test how far you can bring them on foot, how long they'll last or whether they'll disappear upon taking flight.

On a more serious note, you can go grab the quest inside the cafe from "Dumass". He'll help you soften them up, along with the spider you got from one of the NPC guys outside.

Doing this quest felt like I was in some weird bondage game.
Had to strip down naked (female blood elf, by the way..) so I wouldn't kill them, then walked around the cave dragging several shirtless men around in chains. Very, very weird.

As an 85, I took everything off, hit them with my fists once (got them to around 50% health), then stepped back and let the hungry spider from Coastal Delicacies! attack them until they were down to 35%. Sometimes I accidentally killed them, but it worked out alright.

I think the easiest way for an 85 to complete this quest is by taking off your weapons and just using your fists, it worked well for me as an 85 druid

I had to un-equip my weapon with my lvl 21 warrior because on first hit they wouldn't be weakened enough, on the second they were dead.

tip for rogues, use feint on them.
it will start a fight but not auto attack and the spider will fight them

Funny to spam the shackle making your character appear to fiercely slap them down. At low health stop attacking and let the spider finish them off so you have more time to slap them silly.

85s: It's just like at a bar: you get rid of your weapons (more often than not also your shirt) then you just start a fist fight. For no other reason than that they're humans.

For non-healing types, bring some bandages. Pick up the escort quest in the back half of the cave. The NPC aggros and fights with your new spider pet. They will be able to knock down humans to 35% so you can shackle. Bandage/heal, rinse, repeat.

As a level 85 mage, I kept the spider from to complete this quest as well as Dumass. In order to keep the human off of Dumass, I used spellsteal to aggro the human so my spider would start attacking it.

Problem solved ->

Buy Shortsword from weapon NPC in Deathknell.

Remove ALL gears

So cool to hunt them as 100+, until 35 % stop combat, so click to bind.

Have fun.

PS: Keep shortsword for next quests, as "Cry of the Banshee", also need until 35 %....*angr* :D

This achievement was really annoying to solo as a level 85.

I completed it by stunning the Hillsbrad Sentries so they got out of their web, probably works with CC aswell or any other debuff spell.

Then I let the spider from the Coastal Delicacies quest get them to low HP.

I just did it this morning on my 85 mage. Didn't feel like going back to UC to buy a useless weapon. I found it easy once I equipped my fishing pole and was hitting like a baby kitten.

As a lv90 I found that if I remove my weapons I don't do enough damage and with a weapon I kill them. So I equiped my Kalu'ak Fishing Pole. It worked perfectly.

Lvl 90 lock, i had little space in my inventory and i removed only my staff, i hit them once and let the spider to the rest. killled one or two, but got the quest done.

I just did this as a lvl 90 geared hunter. Tranquilizing shot does not do any damage to mobs and does not activate your auto attack, so it is perfect for aggroing any mobs that are 1 shotted by your arrows. What i did for this quest was remove all my equipment besides my bow (the spider scales with your gear) and tranq shot the humans, leaving my spider to attack them once or twice before i am able to capture them. Hope this helps :)

This felt impossible to do on my 90 Ret Paladin, as I was 1 shotting them with all of my attacks with all of my gear unequipped.

I found if you go deeper into the mine there is another quest on offer called Deep Mine Rescue where you need to escort Dumass out of the mine. I used Reckoning(Taunt) on each mob while healing Dumass as needed. He seemed to do enough damage to bring them below 35% HP (the spider pet you get doesn't seem to do any damage anymore).

I did this quest at 90 by taking off all my gear, flying up high over the quest area, dismounting, falldie, and accept res sickness from the spirit healer. Then and only then could I do little enough damage to not one hit these guys.

As a 90 DK, i killed them even if I was nude, so what I did was to fly high up, dismount and ress at spirit healer to get ressurection sickness. Then I used Icy touch on them, which worked well

As a level 100 Hunter I found it could be completed by removing all armor, taking rez sickness, and dropping an Explosive Trap on them. It doesn't allow you to capture them every time, but it does work. Make sure to stand as close as possible to reduce the travel time of the shackles.

For concerned max-level achievement hunters, this quest and Cry of the Banshee are NOT needed to complete Hillsbrad Foothills Quests. I was able to skip these and complete 52-53 quests in the zone to get my achievement.

Well, nobody seems to have tried to see just how far you could lead these guys.

I wanted to bring them all the way back to Undercity... Figured I could try and get some noobs to buy them... 'Humans for Sale... Get your Hummies' (jk).

As a druid, I was able to lead them in travel form. Took the road back through Silverpine forest and made it just north of the Forsaken Front when they despawned.

Not sure if it was a distance or timeout thing. I may come back on a toon that has not completed the quest that has flight, and try again.

Did this at level 100 on a frost mage, paired with Deep Mine Rescue (escort quest obtained inside the mine).

To break the miners out of the webs I used pet freeze (does 0 damage). I then waited for Dumass to melee them down to 35% health before capturing them. I didn't have any bandages on me, but they weren't necessary- he heals back to full when out of combat. If he does die, no big deal- just go and pick up the quest again. You can also deep freeze the mobs (after using pet freeze) to buy Dumass a few more seconds of time if his health is getting low, as well as spellstealing their 50% increased attack speed buff (from the foremen).

If you'r one-shotting the mobs, do this:

Go into the mine and find Dumass, take his escort quest.
Walk Dumass close to the mobs and have him soften them up for you.

Did Dumass die? Just abanddon and retake the quest.

As prot paladin on lvl 100, I removed all gear, got Ressurection Sickness and hit mobs with the last tick of Consecration.

All the quests where You have to weaken stuff are possible with: Goblin Dragon Gun, Mark II. Just spray them and immediately turn camera around so you won't kill them.

110 level DK Frost;

1- Remove all items.

2- Fly to sky and dismount yourself. Fall and die.

3- Talk with Angel at cemetary and got death buff.

4- Hit mob 1 time and check percent. If its %40, wear belt and other items one by one until 1 hit to %30 life left.

5- Fix your hit to %30 around and do it easily.

In case you are stuck in the limbo one-hitting the mobs while being too low-level to use Soft Foam Sword on the targets, you can manage with Whole-Body Shrinka' if you are alone in the mine. Three minutes should be just about enough time to weaken and shackle all Humans.

Description

This mine was once the heart of Alliance mining operations in Hillsbrad. It now serves as a breeding ground for our loyal spiders, though, the humans still occupy it - in a way.

<Keyton grins.>

But onto business! Warden Stillwater has called for more workers at the Sludge Fields. I want you to enter the mine with these shackles and capture Hillsbrad humans for labor in the fields.

Break them out of their web paralysis and beat them into submission before you use the shackles.
