Im guessing this pet is permanent, because it gives you the fragment in your bags. very easy quests. attack eggs, nothing attacks back. towards the end, this little bugger pops out and follows you.

After you complete this quest, take your Lashtail Hatchling to the Bal'lal ruins, and look for a pile of skulls. Once you get near the skulls, your hatchling will pick one up and start a new quest (http://www.wowhead.com/quest=26323#see-also)

Be sure to loot the corpse quickly before your raptor eats it, or else the body will despawn, along with its loot.

Is anyone else bothered that we're feeding our pet people?

edit: Murlocs are humanoid, hence yes people. And before someone decides to go into all the possible examples of non-sentient humanoids, Owlkin have been corrupted into bestiality (there are a few places that have owlbeasts gathering around cookfies, such as and island off of Azuremyst Isle), Worgen range from mindless to sentient, and there are friendly Murlocs you can talk with in Northrend. So yes, they are people.

If you lose the Lashtail Hatchling, use the Lashtail Raptor Egg Fragment in your inventory to summon it back.

Kill Murkgill murlocs in Northern Stranglethorn, and let your Lashtail Raptor eat 40 bites of their meat.

Description

It looks like your young raptor is hungry. If you're looking to keep her, why don't you find something for her to eat? The lashtail often attack the camp of the Murkgill murlocs, just to our north.

She probably isn't strong enough to hunt on her own yet, but I'm sure she will eat freshly killed murloc meat.
