The person you are looking for is an ethereal ghost to the northwest of the mountain in the Rise of the Defiler (not in the cave). He is standing by a purple glyph on the ground. Cords: 46,21

He is on the oposite side of the mountain (cave). He is outside and standing above purple rune. He is a blue ghost so don't miss him!

This quest was a bit annoying since I didn't get credit for Destroying his body. After several times trying a hunter (level 57) came. I just let him dps Razelikh and finally it worked. If you dps him too fast you won't get the credit for destroying his body and you will 'bug' the quest.

So when ur level 80 and doing this quest, don't dps too much! =)

There doesn't seem to be any evident way down from the spot where you kill him?

I had to jump down to the blue rune which got me the rest of the way, but it feels like a lot greater distance than it actually is.

At 48.6 43.5, there is a purple rune. Standing there is a bairly visible gohst. Speak to it and it will send you right to him.

I was unable to complete as a lvl 61 worgen hunter. The guy fell off the mountain... he came back once, but then it happened again and I waited 10 minutes, he never came back. So I abandoned and moved on.

If you're lv 85 doing this quest keep in mind, you must kill Rakh'likh VERY VERY slowly. As an ele sham I had to remove my weapon imbuement and melee him, allowing him to cast his Chaos and throw me in the air before he was dead. That did the trick. Hope this helped!

If you are high level, you do have to unequip your weapons and maybe a couple of other pieces of gear in order to kill him slowly enough to get credit for killing his body. He has to cast the spell that throws you into the air.

Just completed this at level 85 as ret in my normal gear. I brought Rahk'likh down to 1 hp, then he went into Loramus's body, brought him down to 1 hp again, and then used the knife. Quest completed without a hitch without any knockback happening and without having to "slow down" as other posts have suggested. Perhaps it's been fixed.

Go to the second right, after you leave the Keep. The ghost and rune are beside the road (46.82/21.36) on the left.
Everytime the demon tosses you into the air, a Felhound comes down with you. Kill it. Fight the demon between hound attacks. The knife didn't work until the demon turned purple and almost disappeared. I just kept spamming the knife between my blows against the demon!
After other comments, was worried, but got the credit.

There is a way down. On the north side of the rise, there is a platform. On the platform is a blue rune called The Rune of Return. You must drop down (don't jump or you will take more damage) to the platform where the rune is and move onto the rune. It will instantly teleport you to the bottom of the Rise of the Defiler. So completed this as an 85 Hunter, took a few tries to get the kill to actually go through. I finally just laid down a trap and let it tick its full coarse, then just auto-attacked him down and it gave me credit.

if you don't complete "Razelikh's body destroyed" step, just try to take off your weapon and kill him slowly.

Anyone else a tiny bit sad that the gnome didn't turn up cackling and saying we were playing right into his cards with assisting to summon his master?

Or him turning up after the kill to steal the demon's power instead of letting us imprison it?

If you jump down to the "Rune of Return", it will port you back to the "Deathly Usher".

Almost all comments are about how to get down, where to find him, and that you'll fight him slowly... nothing about the actual fight itself when you're a lvl 56-58... I know i did it with my other chars... and it never worked on that lvl... on a higher lvl it does... but i'm sure it is doable on a lvl 56-58 too... Anyone suggestions? Because the one npc tanking him dies to soon..

What is did was (mage lvl 57) killing the mobs who came and let the NPC tank him... but that didn't work. The NPC died, the boss threw me off the platform... so i could'nt kill him then.

Yes I don't hath any add-ons don't trust them LOL~ ! but it was definitely NE ~! and right below the rise of the defiler ~! he was a ghost ~! surrounded by stones and all you had 2 do was speak 2 him and U were transported 2 the rise I just completed as a Lvl 60 Mage and no problems at all ~! well worth the 26 k in Exp. ~! The rare ring was kinda nice as well 'cause it had the crit +6 had to drop a couple int. points 2 use 'tho but the stamina did increase ~!

You meet the Deathly Usher who will teleport you to the confrontation with the demon as it is not possible to get to the top except by flying. It appears as a ghostly apparition by the side of the road, southwest of Dreadmaul on the main road. Speak to it and it will transport you to the top.
Once there, you will battle the demon until the resurrected night elf takes the aspect of the demon into himself. Now you attack the now corrupted elf until he tells you to use the knife. I had the knife slaved to my action bar. If you do it right, you will complete the mission.
To return to the ground, proceed north of the battle area and the next level down there will be something called the rune of return or something like that. That will bring you back down to the Deathly Usher.
Return to Watcher Grimeo at the dark portal to the south to complete the quest.

im a level 60 Priest, even though it is mid 50 quest, i did alright with little better then normal Armour, nothing special though, just me and the quest guy, he's not terrible hard at all imo.

Anyone knows if this quest make the Bloodstone Teleporters inactive after completing it?.. I've not finished that quest line cause I think those teleporters are interestingly useful to confuse the crap out of enemy players, just disengage combat > click > scape route inside and Hearth home. Enemies will never know where the hell u went.

OK, well Siob asked a really good question - and got downrated for it. I'm not a level 85 - I'm a 57 mage, which is what this level is supposed to be at - and yes, the tank dies and then you get killed before you get told to use the knife. And the knife doesn't do anything if you try to use it when the tank gets very weak - you just get thrown off the platform.

So for level 57 chars - how *do* you fight the guy?

Did this quest as a lvl 56 Pally. The Deathly usher is just off of a road. When I did it, I had to try three times. First two I was killing the mobs, but got sent flying when the npc died. On my successful try I just attacked the demon guy, healing myself if i got below half health and it worked. Get off the mountain by jumping off the side onto a blue rune.

If you are a warlock in Metamorphosis or Dark Apotheosis when fighting Loramus, this quest gets a lot more humerous.

His demonic yell is actually "The pain! Oh, sweet sassy molassey!"

Ok so for those of you actually looking at completing this quest at the designed level (I'm assuming here that you already know how to get up the mountain here as most of the other comments pertain to how to get there...) here is some information on the actual quest.

1. While you're fighting against Rakh'likh, he will summon some beasts. They are thoroughly annoying as they eat away your and the NPC's hp. However, when he casts the spell that sends you soaring, the beasts disappear until he summons others.
2. Make sure you damage Rakh'likh quickly enough because if the NPC dies, you're pretty much screwed and will have to go back down the mountain and teleport back up to reset it.
3. You will be provided with a (very minor) continuous healing boost during the fight.
4. Once the demon will be down to a quarter of hid HP, the fight will stop and you will get credit for destroying his body. His soul will then be transferred to the NPC's body. Then, all you will have to do is eat away at his HP until the NPC prompts you to use the knife.

Quest complete.

Other info:
I tried to complete this quest too many times to count with a lvl 56 Frost Mage and was unsuccessful as I couldn't keep up with the healing the the quest required. I managed to complete it in a party with a lvl 57 druid.

If you die during the encounter, as soon as you release your spirit, you will be in your physical form (ie: not a ghost that needs to find its corpse). You can go straight back up (you spawn very close to the etheral being that sends you up the mountain) and pick up on the fight where you left off.

Bugs:
I started to fight the demon for what seemed to be the millionth time and noticed a druid watching. I invited him to a group and we were able to get the demon down to a quarter of his HP. However, he just disappeared and no credit was given for destroying the body. Had to go back down and come back up (yet again) to reset the quest. When the party was formed prior to engaging the demon, no such problem arose.

You go to Rise of the Defiler where Deadly Usher is with purple circle marking on the ground,Talk to him and ur transported at top of the mountain:)Then we see Loramus Thalipedus being a badass:)He is then turned into a Defiler Then you attack him like u normally would then use the provided item:Stone knife of sealing when he says

Now,heroes!Finish me,while Rakh'likh possesses my body

For anyone doing this quest with a highly overleveled character, make sure to not insta kill Rakh'likh. Let the two npc's duke it out for about a minute, then kill rakh.

Works for 9.0.5

1) Take all of your armor off.
2) Die.
3) Talk to the Spirit Healer to get Ressurection Sickness.
4) Talk to the ghost to enter the top of the cliff.
5) Hit the Rakh'likh.
6) Let him talk and you get the first objective done when his body is destroyed.
7) Kill Loramus Thalipedes.
8) Use the knife and voila. The quest is done :-)

2022 As a lvl 57 hunter. You have to slow DPS this boss to get credit for the body portion of the quest. Foam sword did not work. I had to take off my weapon and use just bare fist and that triggered the quest item completion.

Description

Hero, listen well.

First, we must travel to the Deathly Usher, who waits at the northern foot of the Rise of the Defiler, to our northwest. The usher will take us to the top of the rise. Once there, you will help me defeat Razelikh, for I fear I am not strong enough to defeat him alone.

Most importantly, I need you to hold the stone knife, and do not use it until I tell you to. The knife will trap Razelikh's soul within its new, eternal prison.

If we succeed, speak with Grimeo, the draenei.
