Started this quest in Dustkwallow Marsh in Mudsproket. Dyslix Silvergrub is the flightmaster.

I don't understand. Do I not get this quest if I have the Hero's Call quest? When I finished Ysondre's Farewell, there were no more quests to get. Falfindel even says "We're staging a relief effort at New Thalanaar for all of the survivors of Thousand Needles. We need your help now!" in chat, but he has no quest to give me. I would really like a hippogryff ride too.

Guess I will ride over there myself.

EDIT: I figured it out. If you have the Hero's Call quest, you don't get this breadcrumb quest. I think that's silly. Especially since you can't get the helpful hippogryff flight without it.

As with all other breadcrumb quests, this quest is mutually exclusive with To New Thalannar (Dustwallow Marsh version) and Hero's Call: Thousand Needles. This quest offers greater xp. If you cannot pick up this quest you have either completed one of the other quests or have it in your quest log. To pick this quest up simply abandon the other breadcrumb quest.

In order to turn this quest in you MUST take the hippogryph ride to New Thalanaar. Speak to the flighmaster. She provides an option for a free ride.

I can accept the Mudsproket version, but can't take the flight as I have lost all Goblin rep. So I abandoned the quest and went to grab this quest instead but there wasn't any. Is there any prerequisite? A chain maybe? I also couldn't pick up any quests in New Thalanaar. The night elves there are still battling the Grimtotem tauren.

edit: solved. when abandoning, the quest disappears from the log but caryssia still has the silver question mark over her head like quest givers have when you have an incomplete quest. i went to the flight point near falfindel in feralas and could accept the free ride to caryssia despite never having accepted a quest of the like in feralas. weird.

As of Patch 8.0 you CAN NOT complete these three breadcrumb quests which lead you to Thousand Needles, unlike another breadcrumb quests which you can if do Hero's Call one first.

I've done Hero's Call: Thousand Needles! first, and after that both To New Thalanaar, To New Thalanaar dissappear and marked as completed.

I found I can acquire this quest.
It took me ages but I found a way to do it.
Make sure all your quests in Dustwallow Marsh and Feralas are completed. Go to Mudsprocket, catch a flight to Shadebough, Feralas. Once you land, fly on your own hyppogryph and go towards New Thalanaar. You can find Caryssia Moonhunter near there fighting Marauders. She will ask you to slay 7 of the Marauders ( The Grim Totem Quest) and you hand it in on the wharf near the boats. From there you will be given the Two If By Boat quest. That is where you get the quest to go to Thousand Needles with your first quest to hand in there to Fizzle Brassbolts. He will be at the back of the area near where you land.
