Basically just walk up to the clusters of tadpoles and your presence will automatically scare them. The fear is reapplied every few seconds if you are close enough. If the same tadpole gets feared twice (or so it seems), it dies of fear.

You need to fear the tadpoles twice in order to get credit for the quest after which, the tadpoles will despawn. This requires chasing them after the initial fear and you will automatically reapply the fear.

This can be done in stealth, just incase you don't want to run into clusters of Murlocs

This was fun as a druid. In my flight form the bird would pull back and swoop down on the children, like a hawk.

Why, I ask, why?

The little evil gnome does say in the end:

"Did they run from you? Good. This is better than killing them... if they live to tell the tale, then future generations of murlocs will learn to fear us".

But the sweet baby murlocs did die chased! So, Blizzard, what is the point of this massacre, I ask?

All I want now is to hug a baby murloc and take it home with me.

Side note: being mounted while doing this quest will cause your character to stand on its mount to scare the baby murlocs.

Plus if you do this mounted, you stand up on your mount while waving your weapon around! :-D

Fear can only work as long as those suffering from it are willing to let it work.

Sure, it's easy to be afraid all your life. Most of these murlocs will likely live their lives as such.

But there will always be the few, the few that remember what you did, the few that refuse to give in to that fear, the few that will rise up.

They will incite the spark of courage in all those who live in the shackles of fear, until fear may no longer hold them. This is when the murlocs shall rise, seeking vengeance for what was done against their slaughtered kin.

You seek to plant the seed of fear into their hearts, while it is you that should be afraid.

This seemed to only work when said Murloc obtained 3 stacks of the fear, and collapsed.
This quest was not specific enough, to the point that I did not even realize that the Murlocs gained stacks of it.
It only said to fear them. Running up to them and fearing them once to scatter, should have counted as a fear.
In my opinion, the text should be changed to say "collapsed" instead of "feared".

Description

It seems that Jerrod has you hunting the murlocs to the north. That's good... we can use their parts for our poisons. I get a little worried sometimes, though...

The Vile Fin spawning grounds are not far off Tirisfal's northern coast, so you'll probably notice several tadpoles among the adults on the shore. If these impressionable young murlocs were to seek revenge against us... that could ruin us. Go chase them, and show them that the Forsaken and the Horde are not to be trifled with.
