Hes inside a cave at 53,75. hes a lv 9 elite guarded by 02 mobs. You can pull both of them without aggro the elite one.
Pull them, kill them get ready, pop ur cooldowns and take the named one down.

I did solo this Quest alone druid, was in lvl 9! pull all the mobs. restore your health and mana. pull the boss, 2 wrath 1 moonfire. hit it. and whan you have low hp. use healing touch! do this 2 you have finifh the boss. did use 2- 6 min to kill it, but it was worth it ;)

I did solo this Quest whit a lvl 9 Priest! So easy! Just pull the 2 guards and kill them! After that u just Wand him to death! When u need heal! Save mana! Did take me 2min to kill him! xD (His at 53,75 in a cave)

Soloed with lvl 10 rogue, needed to use potion though =/. Well my tactic was: First go behind him with stealth and then backstab -> 4x Sinister strike and then Evicerate. Then Couge + Bandage. Then keep nuking SS and Eviscerate until the mob dies.

Same here :> 10 rogue soloed.1 minor healing potion used but i used 'slice and dice' for faster atk =) (i had 2 weapons)

I was able to solo this quest easily as a level 9 druid. After killing the nearby mobs, I pulled him out of his cave and kept him rooted. I just let the damage from the roots alone kill him. It took a while, but it worked.

Soloed at lvl 9 night elf druid. just pull the other two ones outside kill them then pull the Oakenscowl then just jump back and do the entaglig roots and when its going to break do it again easy? :)

Level 11 rogue. Soloed quest. Killed outside two, then killed inside cave pat.

Killed elite using one pot, then killed the other using one bandage.

Easy to do by yourself.

suggest you make a macro to help use bandages. Put it on one of the number keys on your hot bar. helped me out a lot.

L10 Night Elf Rogue - solo'd

This was easier than it first appeared when looking at the situation. Just clean out the field in front of the cave. This leaves you with 3 mobs: Oaky, his "bodyguard", and the cave entrance wanderer.

Pull the wanderer once he's at his furthest point out, no issue here. For my attempt at this quest (and judging from most other posts on here as well) Oaky's "bodyguard" isn't linked to him in any way, just pull him as usual with your bow, throwing weapon, Starfire, Smite, etc.

Now, for Oaky himself, he sure didn't seem like an elite, although he was a level below me. Being a Rouge, stealth behind him... get a Backstab off, wait a few moments go gather Energy back, then hit a Gouge, walk behind him and get off another Backstab. At this point, pop Evasion, get off 2 SS's before hitting the finishing move (either one would work, I believe I went with Eviscerate). He was down to about 35% health left, and my Evasion time was almost up. Gather Energy again, and start over from Gouge; he'll be just about dead after the ensuing Backstab/SS.

No potions or bandages needed, just a little planning for your first "group" quest.

He's very easy to take down because he's not an Elite anymore. Just clear the cave around him and go in. That simple!

Soloed as a level 59 shammie. I just went into the cave, targeted Oakenscowl and did one chain lightning. Amazingly Oakenscowl and his two guards died!

Got 250 Darnasus rep, 80 experience and 3 silver for completing the quest.

(I want an epic cat mount, and these baby land quests give around 3,000 rep and are all too easy of course)

As of Cataclysm, Oakenscowl is now located in niche North East of the quest giver, at location 47,36.

Oddly enough this was the last quest I had in this zone with no follow-ups. I was able to find two other unrelated quests while running around. One was an escort quest and the other an item that dropped from a mob. The latter had a follow-up quest too.

As a f2p lvl 20 I wanted the belt for transmog. Brought my human over to dolanaar and had to do all the available low-level quests in dolanaar before "Denalan's Earth" opened up from Syral Bladeleaf. After that quest I was able to start "Timberling Seeds" then after that questline ended "Oakenscowl" became available from Denalan. Ugh.

As of WoD i am trying to get the belt for my Transmog set. When I first went to Denalan there were no quests available.I went back to town and starting doing the main quest-line (only the quests starting in the city of Dolanaar). This eventually led me to talk to Denalan. That's how its done folks.

Quests i did in order:
A Troubling Breeze
The Emerald Dreamcatcher
Gnarlpine Corruption
The Relics of Wakening
Resident Danger
Ferocitas the Dream Eater
Ursal the Mauler
Denalan's Earth
Timberling Sprouts
Timberling Seeds
Mossy Tumors
Then you get Oakenscowl.

I just did this on cloth and plate toons in the pre-BfA launch, as I wanted to make sure I had all the transmog pieces on Teldrassil in case those appearances were removed or otherwise became unobtainable after BfA launch. Two comments on Oakenscowl:
1) You do NOT need to do either "Emerald Dreamcatcher" or "Ferocitas the Dream Eater" quests. Those are not required to get to Oakenscowl.
2) After turning in both "Timberling" quests to Denalan, get "Rellian Greenspyre" from Denalan. That quest takes you right to the start of "Mossy Tumors", so you'll see the destination on your minimap, plus you'll get a bit of Darnassus rep for no extra work.

Also, there is a two-quest chain inside the barrow dens: "Sleeping Druid" followed by "Druid of the Claw". If all you care about is transmog, then you should ONLY do those two quests on a mage or a warlock. The second quest gives two gear drops: cloth chest and one-handed sword. Mage and warlock are the only classes that will allow you to loot and learn BOTH those appearances at once.

If you try to follow the in game directions telling you to go to the Wizard's Sanctum in Stormwind and take the portal to Exodar, don't bother; it will then tell you to take the Darnassus portal which no longer exists in the Exodar. Just go to the docks in Stormwind and use the portal to Darnassus.

On 9.0.1 PTR he was at 47,35 -- however the quest only awarded XP and 250 Darnassus reputation, no items.

Description

I figured it out! I had to rush here to find you! It's so simple really... the corruption has spread from timberling to timberling, but there's but one that is the source.

Oakenscowl, he's being poisoned by the largest tumor I have ever seen... I would call it gargantuan, even.

Oakenscowl used to reside in a cave near my lake, but has since found his way to a nook to the northeast of here. <name>, Hunt down Oakenscowl and collect the tumor; remove this source of corruption from my home.
