The flight is automatic so all you have to do is aim the large green target on the ground and fire away. Yes, the bird is flying somewhat quickly and over the trees, making it really hard to spot the animals, but you can take the flight more than once if needed. You'll fly north first - aim for the stags, there are usually several small deer around them so you get credit for multiple targets even if you never see them. When you go west, aim for the Moonstalkers. Look for bears as you fly south.

Keep an eye out for the bears especially, as they are the last animal you'll fly over. They are numerous but you will need to be quick with them as they are not as abundant as the deer & moonstalkers.

The bears are the hardest, because of the tree canopy. I recommend a combination of:

1) Spamming the target reticle as fast as possible, somewhat randomly
2) Targeting clumps of trees, as the bears seem to hide in them
3) Occasionally looking behind you to see bears, especially as you approach Master's Glaive.

If you're lucky, or good you ought to finish this in one pass. Twice around should be enough for the rest of us to complete this quest.

If you, like me, had a hard time finding Orseus he is standing next to the flight master at Grove of the Ancients. If you check the map it is near the "G" in Grove of the Ancients.

You'll be given the temporary mount Grove Hippogryph (Ride Grove Hippogryph), and have one ability: Protect Wildlife. Use it to cleanse eight (8) of the following types of animals (usually appears in the following order):

Kathrena Winterwisp's monologue during the flight:

Hop on!
Hold on tight! I'll take care of the flying, you focus on the wildlife below.
From the air, you should be able to cast your protective ward on whole groups of animals at once.
Whitetail deer have been repopulating this whole area.
Hold on, the updraft from the fires can be fierce.
Moonstalkers displaced by the fires patrol this strand, we need to keep them safe!
Look below - some of those thistle bears haven't been consumed yet. We're not too late.
Why would anyone want to dig up something so horrific? I'm convinced those things are behind what's happening to the animals here.
Good work! Let Orseus know if we need to take another pass.Otherwise, I'll meet you in the grove!

In Defense of Darkshore

Talk to Orseus outside the Grove of the Ancients and mount a hippogryph. From the air, protect 8 Whitetail Deer, 8 Grizzled Thistle Bears, and 8 Moonstalker Matriarchs/Sires from the consumption.

Description

Now that we know our preventative measures work, we should cover as much ground as possible.

I've arranged to commandeer one of our hippogryphs, but I can't do this alone. Talk to my friend Orseus, next to the flight master right outside the grove here. Let him know when you're ready and I'll meet you there. We'll canvas Darkshore from the air and protect as many animals as we can!
