I think this quest might be bugged;

My friend (level 70 worgen mage), thought we did it at the same time. We did. She was getting credit while we were doing it, but it said she didn't do it. She abandoned it, took it again, and the names above the bears were yellow.

She did it TWICE and it didn't let her turn it in because the first time it said she didn't do. She abandoned it AGAIN (for a third time), and this time the bears' names were red. It told her that she got the credit in the middle of he screen, but not on the quest tracker. She logged out and in, but it still didn't work.

Bugged or not?

This one acted strange for me, too. When I killed the bears, I didn't get credit for them in my quest log. But after killing 6 and going back to the quest giver with 0/6 showing in my log, I was able to turn in the quest like normal and pick up the follow up quest.

I've had problems too. I've accepted the quest, killed the consumed Thistle bears and saw the "Consumed Thistle Bear slain: x/6" and the tracker along the right side simply does not account for it. After killing all 6, I return to the quest giver and cannot complete. I had abandined, re-accepted, and re-done the quest several times now and the same thing happens.

I've had this problem once or twice before, on other quests, and at some point even though the objectives tracker does not list it as finished, I was able to turn in the quest anyway (I don't remember where it was because it has been a while).

I don't know if it matters, but I am an 85 human Warlock. My pet is not active, so that's not the issue, as sometimes in the past if my pet kills the mob before I can aggro it I don't get the credit. Does killing them with one shot somehow mean that the tracker does not recognize the kill?

If you are wondering why an 85 is questing this, I'm trying to earn the Darkshore Quests achievement towards the Loremaster of Kalimdor achievement.

Now THAT was strange!

Duh moment... make sure that you actually swim into the pond to get that part of the quest. I thought I had done so previously, but I'm now not so sure. Also, if you have previously killed the bears, which I had, even if the trackers reads "0/6", I still completed after swimming into the pond and not re-killing the bears...again.

I'd killed the bears, but my quest tracker wasn't tracking them, even though it was on the tool tip.

When I swam into the pool to "Investigate" the tracker still showed I needed to kill the bears. But after I completed the Investigation of the pool/well, the whole quest became completed & I was being instructed to return & turn it in.

An FYI for skinners: the funky "consumed" pinkish-lavenderish bears are skinning lvl 90. So if u arrive not properly leveled, go back just north then a tad east from lor'danel n there're more than enough bruins yo lvl up in skinning

If it's July/August 2018 and you're doing the War of the Thorns quest chain as part of the BFA leadup, you probably cannot complete this quest. It's an old quest. The area is now phased, and the old quest may be impossible to complete.

Likewise you may have similar problems with Leave No Tracks and What's Happening to the Blackwood Furbolg?, which can both be safely ignored.

Temporarily turning off "trivial quest" detection (via the magnifying glass icon on the mini-map) will prevent you from seeing these quests.

Well, I went into the lake 4 times. Even killed thistle bears while in the water. No cred for investigating the water, and no consumed bears anywhere to be seen.

Description

My first concern right now is for the thistle bear families who call what's left of these woods home. Just to our south, beyond the bear shrine, an entire generation has fallen ill. Gruesomely ill.

<name>, I don't know what they're suffering from, but it's consumed them from within. It pains me that a whole generation is beyond saving, but we've got to kill them off so that the earth can reclaim their bodies.

More importantly, we need to find the source. Investigate the shallow lake they drink from!
