Cracked Crate is a part of the Secret Treasure Death's End.
The treasure has a chance to spawn in Revendreth, you'll see it on the map.
You have to use the Cracked Crate to reveal a Hidden Valve
Use it to open a secret passage leading to chest.

You can find the Secret Treasures at different locations in Revendreth.

This Secret Treasure is located in the Death's End.
You can take the southern elevator from the Halls of Atonement. From there you can already see the path you have to walk.
Exit the path by going left from the bridge down to Endmire and on to Death's End.
Go into the building on the right and click on the Cracked Crate on the left. Then click on the Hidden Valve in the box and the carpet will disappear and a passage will open downstairs.
Go downstairs and then through the left door, the Secret Treasure is at the back of the room in front of the other chests.
To open the door to the top click on the Hidden Valve, which you can see on the stairs to the exit on the right side of the wall.
