These creatures are constantly circling in the sky above Hellfire Citadel. They seem to be too high to be able to reach with anything, but you can occasionally see them flying by way high above.

I have gotten close enough to be able to attack one of these. However, even though I was in range and there was nothing between the fel raven and me. It said that my target was not in line of sight. I wasn't facing the opposite way i was facing him. So, i'd have to say that even though you can get in range to attack one of these they are not attackable. It's probably bc there is like a barrier around HFC that prevents you from landing on it, and the fel ravens must be inside this barrier.

This may be obvious but, while labelled as Beast, these mobs are higher than level 100 and, therefore, cannot be tamed.

Managed, with the ability to fly now, to land on a spike of that growth surrounding Hellfire Citadel. That put me in range of one of the Fel Ravens as they circled the citadel. I was well able to tag the beast as it flew around, but it would not stop flight and engage me.. So within a few moments it was out of range and healing back up. I tried sicking my pet on it, but there was ":no path available".

The spike I was standing on is at 34.79, 59.01. I'll keep an eye out for another spot, where I can maybe send my pet out. Hopefully that will do the trick.,. if not.. Maybe this guy just isn't meant to be fought. *shrug*

After the advent of flight, my wife and I were able to get on one of the HFC spires to where they roam.

Though attackable, they will not respond to aggression, nor to proximity, and will continue to pat about, undisturbed.

Managed to kill the Fel Raven by landing on one of the spikes protruding from the building, at 37.3, 61.2. It looks like you are standing on air.
As a hunter, I used Chimera Shot, Murder of Crows, Barrage (in that order, very fast) and Kill Shot when able. Used legendary ring and Rapid Fire whenever possible, just a couple seconds before the raven came in range. Every round the Fel Raven made, I took its HP lower than before, until after several rounds I finally killed it. It let out a dying screech and fell to the building roof below.
There is no loot; the corpse is not even lootable.
Still, was fun to finally overcome the challenge.

P.S - for an added damage bonus, on top of all possible buffs, you can dip in the area's fel sludge for 9 stacks, which will grant you a large 45% damage increase, allowing you to drop the Fel Raven that much faster. Since the raven will not attack, the 45% increase in damage taken is irrelevant.

Named after the Fel Reaver from BC; that big robot being constructed in the Fel Forge. Or was the Fel Reaver named after him? The raven is definitely far less annoying. You'd be surprised how sneaky the Fel Reaver can be when you're questing in Hellfire Peninsula.

Cannot be Tamed

After trying for 30mins to tame a Fel Raven outside the Citadel, I went into the raid. You have to clear up to Iskar (I did this on normal for speed/ease/laziness). When you reach Iskar's room, there is A SINGLE Fel Raven. You must kill the 3 Zealots surrounding it or they will disorient you, breaking the tame, to do this I just targeted and used my Auto Shot. Then you are free to tame and enjoy your new Fel Raven! Congrats on your new pet! :)

Helped my wife tame one of these beasties. One that fly outside of HFC. The one y'alls sayin are untameable because they don't aggro. #Igotthis

This one was a bit of a challenge to tame. The key is getting your haste high enough to complete the Tame Beast cast before the bird flies too far away from you. This can be achieved through two hunter abilities and a few consumables.

For consumables, you want:

Make sure you also take the Dire Beast talent (Beast Mastery); this will grant you some extra haste. Finally, bring a pet that can cast Ancient Hysteria. You will also need a target dummy item, such as Sturdy Love Fool.

The setup:

Following Witherin's comment, I placed myself on the small spike jutting out from the larger fel spike at coordinates (35, 59). There is a small window of time during which one of the Fel Ravens will be in range of tame beast from here. Eat your haste food, consume your haste flask, and place down a target dummy (this will provide a safe target to use Dire Beast on). Pop Ancient Hysteria and dismiss your pets immediately. Finally, use your haste potion and cast Dire Beast at the very last moment, then target the raven and hit Tame Beast.

If you follow the above instructions, you should have just enough time to finish the cast and claim this elusive beast as your own. At the time of writing, my hunter had 955 haste unbuffed, showing as 14% on the character sheet. With a high enough natural haste rating, you may not even need the consumables or special talents, but you will definitely need some form of Heroism or Bloodlust.

I just managed to catch one so I would like to share my experience. Please bear with my poor English. :)

Things to prepare:

1) Bring a pet with Ancient Hysteria. You would need it to save time on taming.

2) Coordinates (34.8 59.1). You would need to sit on one specific spike around that coordinates. Once you reach there you are supposed to adjust ur position in order to sit on the spike. Ultimately you should look like standing in the air but you are actually not falling. (I wish I can submit a screenshot but I don't know how)

Now the most important part. Once you find your way standing there, cast Ancient Hysteria and dismiss your pet when u see the feel raven incoming. Since Ancient Hysteria lasts for 40 secs you can cast it earlier so you won't miss the chance. After this, you simply click your Tame Beast very fast to get it cast as soon as it's in the range.

I've tested this method 2 times and it is proven that you can have it work with normal armors on you. Good luck!
