There is a Scroll beside this dead npc, upon clicking it you will get the following text.

It is not enough that the wolf regard you as its master. To ready your wolf for riding, you musk break its will completely.

Once you have subdued your wolf, you will mount it and ride it to the top of the tallest peak in Nagrand. If your wolf is willful, it will throw you to your death on the mountain slopes.

If you survive to the peak the will of your wolf will be broken.

Then, you can call yourself "Wolfrider."

Judging by the Npcs death i would say the wolf was willful

I accepted this challenge and, as a Warrior who had the Stables outpost in Nagrand, used Heroic Leap over and over to get myself to the peak atop my Frostwolf Mount.

I am a Wolfrider.

Sounds like he got trolled hard by someone who wrote the Final Trial of the Wolfrider.

You can interact with the one at 83.9 78.1, who does not have a scroll:

This Warsong orc looks to have died trying to carry a giant stone through the Gorian outpost.

There's no clear indication of where he was taking the stone, but it obviously didn't help him in combat.

Of course the First Trial of the Wolfrider near one of the other aspirants explains why he had a stone at all.
Then there is the Second Trial of the Wolfrider and the Final Trial of the Wolfrider.

Guide for Aspiring Wolfrider / Final Trial of the Wolfrider (flavour), A Pile of Dirt (treasure), Explorer Dez, Mountain Climber's Pack, Nagrand - Treasure 005 - Steamwheedle Supplies, and Nagrand - Treasure 006 - Steamwheedle Supplies.

(Explorer Dez leads to the two Steamwheedle Supplies. Also the Mountain Climber's Pack but a glider isn't needed for that)

The Throne of Elements is our base and easily found on your map. It is a safe zone.

From there cross a stream and head towards the fire elementals. You will need to run the gauntlet of these level 99 fire elementals, bearing to your right. Look for a path at around 68.5, 9.2 and climb it. There will be a few more fire elementals along the way.

The path finishes at 71.2, 7.9. It is fairly safe here so better to fight any of the fire elementals you pulled on the way up. Heal up now.

Look straight ahead from 71.2, 7.9 towards a large runed meeting or ceremonial stone. It is on a small island in a shallow lake, surrounded by warring fire and water elementals.

Above is a rocky archway. We will be climbing this arch. It is accessed from a narrow path which is located on the reverse side of the left rise of the arch. The path cannot be seen from where you stand.

Fight your way past the left side of the arch. Safest is to stay close to it.

You should now be standing safely at 74.9, 9.0. No need to buff up etc now as the fighting is done. Up the path!

Of interest on the plateau here is Aspiring Wolfrider and Final Trial of the Wolfrider which add some nice flavour to things and are discussed elsewhere.

From 72.7, 11.3, mount up and jump to a grassy "island" in the sky. Start your run from 72.5, 10.8. Do not attempt from 72.8, 11.2.

Take a moment to turn your view distance to the max and enjoy the amazing panorama. Turn it back down before you do anything else though...

From this grassy area we have more than one treasure to obtain.

Look north and you will see a A Pile of Dirt. Jump across to it!

Now face south south west. You will be looking at the waterfall. Jump towards it. The water is deep enough there and with precision, and aiming to your right as much as possible you might make the deep water. The idea is to avoid any water elementals. The fall damage won't be fatal anyhow.

Climb up to the grassy ledge. This is the first flag. Jump to the second and third flags.

Jumping to that third flag I had to aim right as much as possible. It seemed quite a close call so take care.

Run forward to Explorer Dez! (No loot, she is just a marker for gliders)

Look at the Nagrand - Treasure 006 - Steamwheedle Supplies. If not viewable, then from Explorer Dez they are on top of the leftmost horizontal stone at the Throne of Elements. To glide there you will need to lose some height on your approach. I flew towards the waterfall to the left then banked around so that I could use the horizontal stone as a kind of landing strip. I needed a couple of attempts.

The Mountain Climber's Pack is on a ledge on a cliff face. From Explorer Dez glide to your left and close to the cliffs. As soon as you see the loot ledge glide into it. Loot! You'll need some kind of potion to slow your fall when you jump down from here!

Nagrand - Treasure 005 - Steamwheedle Supplies is the easy one. From Explorer Dez look straight out and you will see a tall butte. Simple glide to that. Stroll down the grassy area towards another flag (as though a flag is even necessary!) and your loot awaits!
