As of 2.0.10, King B still has the Cobra Reflexes passive skill (look at your pet skills). He is currently the only pet in game with a base attack speed passive buff.
Do note however that if you Unlearn his skills at ANY time from a hunter trainer, he will lose Cobra Reflexes and you will be unable to get it back (unless you go tame another King B).

I killed it twice today. First time i took my time and 2 adds spawned. Second time i just nuked it as fast as i could and no add spawned (and i nuked it down quite fast, cuz i was on my lvl 48 lock). Could it be that the spawning of adds is time related?
This is my guess at least.

But do not go to the Pet TRainer to unlearn his talents.
That's what i did and now King Bagalash is not longer a King but a normal 2.0 speed kitty.

At lvl 60 there's no way to train him and level him to 60 in any short time.

i also tamed this pet at lv 43 and he was AWESOME and looked great....that is...until every hunter ive seen so far has got this pet also and with the beast within. *sigh*

42-44 Rogue can take him pretty easily if you are willing to blow Evasion and use a pot when the his adds come. I highly suggest using Slice and Dice as well as Blade Fury this happens. Worste case scenario you kill him and have to Vanish.

Adrenaline Rush is nice if your spec'ed that way.

Blizzard really should have more diversity on unique pet skills. making Cobra Reflexes available to all pets is IMO a shame. your pet should be as unique as your battle skills. It would give any player caution when in PVP if they did not know what the skills of the pet was. for example stun effect from a cat.

Easy as 43 warlock.
Send your VW in. Start with CoA, Corruption. Wait few seconds, then cast Immolate. If you are Affliction - keep Siphon Life up. Wand him to 55%, then cast Fear, recast dots. Adds won't spawn, when he is feared @ 50%. After fear ends, recast it or just drain life to his death. You can sacrifice your VW now if needed.

If he pulls more panthers, just sacrifice VW and cast AoE fear, then nuke him fast (if you are low on HP, use Death Coil) and run away. Then come back for loot.

I've heard rumors that King Bangalash has more DPS than normal cats at level 70 (with or without the Cobra Reflexes ability).

Can anyone confirm this?

I have a level 70 cat with Cobra Reflexes, and his DPS is 193.5 (273-322 Damage). I realize my Ranged AP (2041) affects his damage as well. Without leveling my King B. from 62 to 70, I'd like to find out first- so I'm not wasting my time only to find he does the same damage as any other.

King Bangalash, is still Elite as of 2.3 and summoned adds for my group at about 50% health.

Our group was a 39 Mage and Myself, a Prot Paladin. Avoid using AOEs because of the possibility of stealthed enemies nearby and focus on King Bangalash. You can kill, loot him and then die by the adds if you cannot manage to kill them all and still complete the quest.

Still soloable though, just did it as lvl40 frost mage. He had adds out already, but I started to nuke Bangalash right from the start with Icy Veins and Ice Barrier, he's rootable so Frostbite and Shatter helped a bit, had to waste Cold Snap as well, but he was like a paper, adds went down with Cone of Cold and few Arcane Explosions when they were frozen ^^

Don't know if anyone else has experienced this... after I tamed he had approx 4700 armor. When I later trained him Natural Armor 1-3, his armor DROPPED to about 4300!

Soloed as a 42BM Hunter.

Here's how.

1. Clear the 4 ShadowMaw Panthers around the King
2. Hunter's Mark, Mend Pet, Send Pet, Rapid Shot
3. When I gained aggro, Feign Death, back away,
4. Set up Freeze Trap
5. When two panthers spawn,
6. 1 Freezes, Mend Pet, fight the other
7. kill one, Mend Pet, 1 Heal Pot
8. Pet finishes King, then helps with last add.

All done.

Easily soloed as a Lv. 42 BM Hunter. Just pull him away from all the Panthers and Tigresses, and when he's at about 53-56%, use Intimidation to stop him from calling his adds. If he does, just Multi-shot and lay down a Frost Trap to freeze one.

While Bangalash hasn't been reduced in difficulty to the same degree as some of the other mobs in the game, he's still readily soloable to most 40+ classes.

My feral-spec 42 druid soloed him without needing a pot by pouncing him, getting two shreds in before the stun was over, followed by a rake and a rip. Then, switched to dire bear form and spanked him down. A War Stomp followed by regrowth/rejuv healed me through the damage from him and his adds, though even without war stomp, a cast of barkskin would've been plenty, I suspect.

All in all, not the nightmare he used to be. =)

FYI easily solod by affliction lock at lvl 44.

i didnt even bother clearing around, just amplify curse, send your vw as you charge immolate. curse of agony, corruption, siphon life then start nuking with shadow bolts.

deathcoil him as he gets near 50% to help prevent the adds

if they still come run up to him and have VW aoe taunt them off you
as you refresh dots and keep burning him down. if the vw loses agro, howl of terror to clear the adds off you.

after he dies, loot, sacrifice vw and run away to safety.

He is still elite in 2.4.2 patch (what I mean is, he didn't get nerfed in 2.3).

I soloed him with 2 chars by now: prot warrior and affliction warlock;
Went smooth with the warrior IIRC (was quite long ago), but I remember pullnig a sh*t load of adds with the warlock ;> It was hard fearing all so I died.

Still managed to do it the second time, without adds (without the tigers/panthers wandering around I mean, he still summons those panthers when low on health).

I heard how great this cat was so I wanted to go and tame him ,and did it easy as a 43 bm hunter. But my problem with him was later questing with my cat and I went into and after a few seconds I see in big red bold letters ''your pet has run away'' and had to go retame him.I had a feeling it was something to do with my loyalty lvl being lvl 1. but just becare with that after tameing him. It will save you alot of time.

If you are going to try and tame him, drop your freezing trap first. It will freeze him for 15sec while the tame takes 20sec. that means you only have to take damage from him for 5sec. And with the 100% armor decrease you get from trying to tame something, that 15sec is a big help.

2. he is a lvl 43 elete cat
3 .HE IS NOT RARE
4. he is tamable
5. he does summon 2 lvl 33 panthers
6. adds can be sheepped by mages and killed fast

Warlock strat:

I did this as Affliction spec at level 40. Mileage may vary depending on spec and gear.

Have your voidwalker out and set to passive.

Drop your dots on Bangalash and drain life him down to 50%.

When the adds spawn, sic your VW on one and have him use Suffering.

Keep your dots up on Bangalash and keep drain life going - shouldn't need to fear him if everything goes well, especially since unless you cleared the entire area first he can fear into adds or out of LoS. Both the spawned adds should remain glued to your voidwalker - feel free to suck his mana during the fight, he only really needs it for the one Suffering.

Very smooth fight, woulda been even smoother if I was a level higher so he wasn't orange level for me.

Better known as a "white cat" or "white tiger", King B. inhabits at 37,35 and lives with a two panthers which can be tracked by "track hidden". Such as king of the Stranglethorn jungle, he likes only best fish and meat. He knows the tactics of swift Dash and the furious claw which allow him to rule in such a dangerous place.

Tamed him as a 43 orc hunter. It was fairly simple, didnt even drop a freezing trap. Just hit tame beast from max range and went from there.

i just got to him and he had 2 adds with him already, so like and idiot feelin tough cuz i'm lvl 47 i ran in and attacked him... two stealthed panthers aggrod almost right away but i almost killed bangalash... after the corpse run i noticed bangalash had 4 adds with him now...so i cleared all around him and tried again thinking the adds were weak, well they add up and i died and moral of the story...
the adds seem to stay rather than despawn, so if you try to solo it and fail, then it only gets harder from there if you got him below 50% without having red any strat first :)

If you take a look at the Screenshot of a comparison to King Bangalash (tamed), King Bangalash (un-tamed) and Humar The Pridelord sort same level. As you can see that when you tame King Bagalash that his dmg is reduced. If you are looking for pets to lvl up w/ and you not to high for Humar i would go get him...so far i haven't come across a cat that has better dmg or speed than Humar.

P.S i'm partly BM so i have an increase on some of the stats/dmg

I'm standing in front of this guy right now and there are at least 6 adds with him. It appears that every time someone attempts to take him out and fails the adds "stack". I have been waiting a good 10 min for them to despawn and they still havent.

at least 15 min and they didnt go away... a random 70 killed em for me.

I attempted this quest twice today, and both times his spawned adds were level 43. They despawned seconds after my death.

Still barely managed to solo it as level 42 enhance shaman keeping water shield up, healing stream, windfury, and magma totems. Healed myself every couple of seconds, dropped stoneclaw totem just as the adds spawned and that kept them occupied long enough for me to finish Bangalash off. Actually we died at the same time, but hey, still completed.

Semi-Easy solo as a level 41 BM hunter. You'd probably have to be BM and in good gear to pull it off, though.

Step 1: Clear the area around him.
Step 2: Tag and send pet in.
Step 3: Pop Rapid Fire, Beastial Wrath, and berserking/blood fury if you're a troll or an orc.
Step 4: DPS him down as fast as humanly possible. Try to time intimidate to stun him as he summons, but if you can't pull it off, feign death and freeze one, then distracting shot the other. Hopefully you can survive long enough to kill King Bangalash.

My pet was a Raptor with 2/3 Great Stamina, 2/2 Cobra Reflexes, and 2/2/ bloodthirsty. He was regenning about 50 health every 2 seconds, plus my mend pets.

easy as ferel druid in green gear.... i started with a root.. 2 x starfire.. root again... 2 x starfire... kept doing this untill he was near 50% HP and then i went into dire bear form and tanked him the rest of the way down... i have to use natures grasp once then heal... and go back attack him in dire bear... which finished him.. really really easy.

Soloable as a 40 BM hunter + Gorilla. But, I had just bought new gear off the ah. Spent over a 100g too.

First time tried to make sure there were no adds. Then I had an add and died when he was at about 3% QQ.

Second try I failed even harder, but still won. I grabbed him and a lvl 38 Stranglethorn Tigress. And didn't stop him from spawning his 2 helpers. My pet died, but I was able to kill Bangalash and then I just popped a Shadowmeld and grabbed my prize.

For a side note, I'd suggest bringing mana potions. I only have 1.5k mana, but I have a good amount of mp5. 81 or something around that. Ran out and had to pop Aspect of the Viper, but I still won.

Just did this with a bit of alliance/horde co-op at level 37.

Essentially, i saw 2 people fighting banga (both lvl 39 i think, hunt and warlock), and I decided to help once he was tagged. Only after the fight did i realise that they were both alliance (I was my tauren hunter). They looted, but instead of running off, stayed, waiting for me to tag him once he respawned, and helped me kill him. Which was nice.

The point im making is:

1. Can be done with a group of level 37,39,39.
2. Using Scare Beast/fear just before he hits 50= no adds, which is a lot easier.

King Bangalash's name is a play on Bangladesh, the country in which Bengal Tigers (which he is modeled after) come from. White Bengal Tigers are also known as Royal Bengal Tigers, thus the King prefix to his name.

Just annhilated him as level 42 enhancement shaman ; as adds approached and I dropped Stoneclaw totem ; I turned around and he was on about 25% hp from windfury procs.... Just insane ; he dropped 75% in about 3 hits :s

I Gift of the Naaru'd and then ran off but wanted to skin him too so just stood there and ripped through the adds after Stoneclaw died. MUCH simpler than I could've hoped.

This was using BoA offhand dagger (flametongued) and MH 2.7 speed mace ; both with crusader ; and BoA shoulders - so really I was overgeared for it ; but nearly 5 shotting an elite one level higher than you is pretty mad.

Soloed as a 43 resto druid in mostly crafted/quest greens. I cleared the surroundings and started by rooting and nuking him, then when he broke free I meleed him and kept both my HOTs up, hitting Moonfire whenever Clearcasting procced.

When the adds showed up, I Hibernated one of them and kept fighting the same way; I got pretty low on both health and mana at times and popped Nature's Swiftness+Healing Touch and Innervate, but drank no potions. Once he was dead, I just picked off the adds one at a time at my leisure.

Then I realized I'd forgotten to actually get the quest and had to do it again. Oops.

Just DPS'd down Bangalsh and popped Lifeblood and Health pot as the adds beat on me. After Banglash was down Gorilla took aggro and I finished. Used Gift of the Naaru on Gorilla but really could have gotten away without it.

I managed to solo him as 42 warrior, I cleared around him and and popped shield block, spammed revenge, shieldslam and bloodthirst and refreshing hamstring so i could outrun a few hits. I had a few lucky crits but with a pot it would have been alot easier :)

Soloed as a 41 holy priest using the same "fear tactic". Note that if you fear him at 54%, let him run around and he un-fears still over 50% - he will still summon adds. So before fearing him, make sure you refresh your DoTs, so that he emerged from the flee below 50%.

And of course clear the area before you start. Respawn rate of those tigers is pretty low, so you can try Bangalash several times without having to clear again.

According to page 4, Chapter 4 of the Green Hills of Stranglethorn, King Bangalash indirectly saved Nesingwary's party from being eaten by a pack of raptors. He was just gonna eat a raptor.

And then something miraculous happened. From off to our side we heard the distinct and terrifying roar of the great white tiger. Despite their numbers, the Raptors turned and scattered in all directions. We saw but a brief white flash as the tiger darted past us and pounced on one of the Raptors. No command needed to be given. All four members of our party knew it was time to run.

Soloed as a 42 Enh Shaman.

Its easy, drop Stoneclaw when hes @ ~60%, either he will get stunned and not summon adds, or the adds will get taunted. Either way, they aren't hitting you.

I did die doing the quest, but I was able to loot the head beforehand, then self-rez and run out.

I went to finish this quest line today. (59 Holy Priest) Found the king, killed him easily... BUT I counted at LEAST 3 adds, plus other cats come when he Emotes. I figured i'd be dealing with 2 at most. I did read the comments here, but I Was still Surprised. Ended up running once I Had looted him.

Even if you clear around the hill, be prepared for the Spawns that come during the fight. It seems if you dont kill him fast enough, you just get more and more.

Simply kite it till to 50% health. Now adds will spawn. Sheep other add and keep it sheeped for whole fight. Kite Bangalash and other add. Kill either Bangalash or add. If you killed Bangalash just run away. I believe they wont chace you forever. =P

Also I had only quest/dungeon drops. Should be really easy with heirlooms.

Really easy as a 40 Feral druid. First off, you need Manual Crowd Pummeler. Open with Pounce, use the Manual Crow Pummeler, rake, claw twice, rip and keep hitting. By this time, he should be at 50% life and adds will have summoned. If Predatory Strikes procced, Healing Touch, switch to bear, Enrage and Bash and spam Maul until dead. If not, run away and reset, you abolutely need that proc or a potion.

Got there and had to wait about ~5 mins. I waited on top of the hill, and finally found him walking up the ramp to the hill. There were 2 Stranglethorn Tigers near, and they instantly went to his aid when I attacked, so clean up the hill beforehand if you can.

You can always macro to find out if he's spawned or not: /tar king

If i may, i have a hunter, Echeyakee is his pet.Had him scence i could catch him.At level 42 he did the same amount of damage as King B. here but his speed was a little bit lower but he hit for more at a time.Echeyakee is my TOP cjoice for a cat pet besides Loquie'nahak.

Not sure if this is a recent change, but when I tamed him on my lowbie hunter, he spawned his adds partway through the tame. His health never dropped as I never damaged him. Just something for any at-level hunters to be aware of... he hits fairly hard alone, having two adds could put an end to taming attempts if your gear isn't great. :) So be careful, stay at range, use a freezing trap. *shrug*

Really depressing running into this guy while leveling an alt. Soloing this guy used to be a rite of passage, now he's just another trash mob, although he still has his summon.

I remember trying to solo him on my first toon, a Warrior, in BC. You had to take time to stalk him, carefully clearing out any nearby mobs, then plot out exactly when to pot, when to blow Retaliation, etc. Encounters like this helped teach noobs like me how to play my class, the importance of timing and getting the most out of your abilities. Not anymore.

Shed a tear, for this guy is a shell of his former self. I just ran in with my level 27 Hunter, wasted him and his spawned adds, and a pat that came by. It was over in less than 15 seconds. Blizzard, you're making the game too easy....

I'd like to share an interesting little tidbit I noticed thanks to this guy.

I was working my way through the new Northern Stranglethorn quests, and had just gotten up to the quest to take down Bangalash. However, it had been way too long since I last trained, so I went back to Orgrimmar. While there, I noticed, to my great surprise, the little skull that tells you there's a quest NPC you have to kill here. Upon investigation, it turns out I was being told to kill a troll hunter's white tiger pet.

Sadly, since the quest is to loot Bangalash's corpse, I couldn't duel him and murder his pet. Oh well.

Just flew my hunter into the zone to re-tame this beast (have tamed and abandoned numerous times over time), and I noticed, since patch 4.1 and the introduction of the new ZG/ZA instances (and their quests), while on the new ZG quests, the zone becomes phased and King Bangalash will not appear while Jungle Serpent are present.

Found this beauty on my 85 while I was omw to the Gurubashi Arena to help a friend beat a 85 mage who was sitting at the treasure chest killing all that came near him and the chest. I showed up and killed him easily he had around 101k health.

I named him Remus which means Swift.
He also makes a nice combo with Reins of the Striped Frostsaber

I don't know if he has the same hill as of 4.0.6, but he is on a hill just north of the new maelstrom that divides Northern Stranglethorn Vale from Cape of Stranglethorn.

He is level 23, and is no longer elite.

Just tamed him on my level 29, female Draenei Hunter. I've always loved this guy. I named mine Dhiren, after a character in a book. I found him just north of the STV maelstrom and right outside Fort Livingston.

He is level 29, and had no guards, at least when I got him.

I still have my King B from original vanilla, when taming him at level was "kind of a big thing" and he retained some of his abilities as a pet , such as 300% runspeed.

Interestingly I was whispered by a level 35 today in Stormwind that my pet was showing on his mini-map as a skull, a quest boss! I guess he was on the final part of the Nessingwary chain, and the minimap only checks for the matching NPC ID, and not zone when displaying quest mobs.

This guy still is a cool looking cat IMHO, but he is now super easy to get. He respawns very quickly since he is a regular quest mob. I just tamed him, and by the time I killed a couple other mobs with him (as a 110 hunter), to deactivate prowl, he was already respawned.

Did this quest today and died because he kept zipping back to his spawn point and returning to full health. As I returned to rez, another player was fleeing with KB in hot pursuit.
On my second try, I pulled him to the other side of the top of the hill and was able to kill him (at 39, Shaman) even with 2 adds - seems to be a glitch if you fight him too close to the spawn point.
