Note that since the moth is a flying pet the speed will start at 1.5x, listed in parentheses for the rares. Not many spawn points, but they can show up as the second pet to join a battle.

If you catch one of these as a secondary pet (who assists the pet you challenged), he will change colour every time you summon him.

...been chasing this little bastard for about 2 hours now up and down Felwood and nothing. I'm killing all the Tainted Rats I come across and any critters in the area where I am in hopes a rare will spawn but nothing.

This has been one of the hardest to find rares in the game for me so far (besides a Clefthoof Runt).

EDIT: ~~Finally caught one. LVL 14. 7:34PM server.~~

OMG.. Nevermind. I wrote this mid fight thinking I'd go ahead and capture it but a hit that wasn't supposed to kill it - did almost double damage and destroyed it. WTF :(

EDIT: Okay - *THIS* time I finally caught one. During this second search (which lasted almost another 2 hours) I decided to kill EVERYTHING I came across. Slapped my lvl 22 Gahz'Rooki in the prime slot with a lvl 14 Scorpid in the back (for the chance that I ran into another rare) and challenged every single battle pet I came across until I found another Tainted Moth. Without a doubt one of the most irritating searches yet...
9:45PM server.

This is easy, take some lvl 20 pets and open fight with Tainted Cockroach or rat or Toad :)

When Tainted Moth do not come as assist, just forfeit battle and find another pet.

Can be either a primary or secondary pet. I've seen them mostly as secondary pets when engaging the level 15 tainted rats.
