Speaking from books here, so if ur going to read them(this only goes for Warcraft - War of the Ancients trilogy) and dont want a spoiler just skip reading :)

She sort of gets adopted by Tyrande while the Night Elf army is running from demons during the first Burning Legion invasion. She begins copying Tyrande while she prays and heals refugees and barely, if ever, leaves Tyrande's side during the war. One of my favorite characters for the reason that she's so kid like during the invasion, seemingly less than 30 year old, and then grows to be one of the greatest warriors in the world :)

Shandris was made orphan during the war of the ancients, there's no explicit proof that her parents are dead but they haven't been mentioned after the war.
When Tyrande found and helped Shandris the young nigthelf took a liking to Tyrande and wouldn't leave her side after that.
They're said to be very close friends.
After very much work Shandris became general of the sentinels, which might not have been possible without Tyrande's influence due to her not belonging to any socially high standing family.

Her accension to general of the Sentinel army is almost certainly due to Tyrande's influence, simply because it was Tyrande herself that founded the sentinels.

Comon Blizzard, honestly? She's the apparent "lover" of Jarod Shadowsong and was biggest friend and follower of Tyrande Whisperwind, and a pretty decent character in the War of the Ancients. Could Blizz atleast give her some more HP and a unique model? I hate seeing all these lore characters with generic Display IDs...

Just goes to show for blizzards lack of care for Lore characters I've seen secondary bosses city bosses with less lore than her have a unique model and a own voice not a NE female model named Shandris, she was a powerful unit in WC3 as well

Hopefully in Cataclysm, with the focus back on Azeroth, many NPCs including Shandris will get an upgrade. Particularly given her minor but important role in Stormrage.

they are not CONSIDERED adults until then. They grow at the same rate as humans. Think in the real world, you are basically full grown 16-17, but you are REALLY considered an adult until your mid twenties or so. When your race is immortal, 100 is like mid 20s, lol.

Do you have a source on this? The lore sources I've been able to find only give adult ages, without going into detail on physical maturation rates. I highly doubt that a race would take 20 or less years to reach physical maturity but 100+ years to achieve mental or emotional maturity.

In any case, even if the 100-year age only marked societal adult status, Shandris still wouldn't have been a few years from being able to serve as a priestess if she was only 16.

Blackwing Lair server, some friends and I just kited her to Orgrimmar a few minutes ago.

First things first, pretty easy kite. Had me(priest) healing, Prot Pally, and a Frost DK. As long as you keep dots on her and attacking once in a while, she won't lose aggro as easily as other mobs. NPCs will attack her along the way, but her moonfire pretty much destroys everything in her path.

From what I witnessed,

She has roughly 68.7 million hp and is a skull level mob.
Her auto attack arrows hit for 4k on cloth.
Her arcane shots? hit for 20k. Second time kiting her, it seems to vary between 20k to 50k.
Her aoe moonfire has a 5 second cast time and a duration of about 5 seconds. From what I viewed it ticks for 20-25k, 3-4 times per second.
The aoe moonfire is interruptible during cast time and while it is happening.
She can be snared.
She drops no loot.

First place we brought her to was the Auction House. We anxiously awaited for her moonfire spell, but when it finally happens, it's just oh so satisfying to watch everyone die. One of my friends died and said he witnessed a line of ghosts running back to their bodies.

Eventually we moved her to Garrosh, who sat there for a while, not doing a damn thing. Though when he got caught in her moonfire, he got in the battle and started owning her. Sadly people kept interrupting her moonfire, but by my estimate, she cost our server at least a few thousand gold in repairs. Fun times, probably going to kite her back tomorrow.

At first I did not associate her with the older version that I've seen back in BC and had no idea what abilities she had until I died a few times from her Prayer of the Moon Goddess. She was kited around Orgrimmar and to the dueling area of Durotar. Many people died.

EDIT: Currently on the PTR 4.0.6, she is immune to Mind Control.

I think it's pretty safe to assume that before their immortality, night elves would have around the same lifespan as other non-titan created races like Tauren and Trolls, which is to say, fairly close to real human lifespans.

Except that we have lore sources that give lifespans for Night Elves, including old age and venerable, which must represent pre-Nordrassil ages, as Night Elves did not age past adulthood after the creation of the World Tree. Also, since the World Tree only kept them from growing old, it shouldn't have had an effect on how long it took to reach adulthood. It's also clearly stated in many sources that elves live much longer than Humans, even High/Blood Elves, which are not affected by the Tree.

Wowpedia is a reference source, but it is not itself a source of lore. It's user-created, so while it is usually quite accurate, it is still susceptible to errors and unsupported conclusions.

I kited her to org today as ele. Destroyed everyone. Apparently, she cannot be interupted anymore, and her cast can also be done on the move now.

Not sure if this is new, or not.

I love kiting Shandris Feathermoon to Orgrimmar! It is soo epic to aggro her to Garrosh... Though, she won this once... 0_o She does this massive AoE that hits for (I think) 16k-17k per second...

Currently on the PTR 4.10.0 she now has Electrified Net ability which prevents movement for 5 seconds and it's cast frequently. She resets a few yards outside of the house she's in.

Looking at the destruction of her AoE, that kinda gets me back to Vanilla, kiting Teremus to Stormwind or Ironforge. I really miss those days... And the old Teremus...

As Shandris Feathermoon is my favourite character, I decided to tell a bit of her history per short. Of course you can look on wowpedia or somewhere else, but not all info there is correct.

In War of the Ancients triology we find that she was 16 when Queen Azshara invited the Legion into the world. She and other survivors from a village/town were trying to escape the legion, th Resistance saved them. Her parents had already been killed so she attached herself to Tyrande so to say. Even from then she was an excellent archer, killing/wounding some satyrs that attacked Tyrande before she was taken. She had a crush on Jarod Shadowsong, leader of the resistance and brother of Maiev.

After this, Tyrande took her under her wing and she started to consider her as an adoptive mother, as seen in the Tyrande short story on the blizzard website. She was also trained in the art of the priesthood of Elune besides getting archery an tactics training. In the short story we're shown a moment of her life before the Cataclysm where she stays behind to defend Feathermoon Stronghold from naga attacks so that all night elves could escape. She was critically injured in this story but Tyrande and Malfurion saved her.

Still, she got to the Feathermoon Stronghold since the night elves wanted to reclaim their old land, expand etc. During the book "Stormrage" we find out that she has an extensive network of spies all along Kalimdor which seem to communicate extremely fast with one another, rumoured through the buzzboxes (like the ones in Classic WoW Darkshore). She goes to keep things in check in Darnassus while Tyrande goes to save Malfurion in this book. She's later hit in the head by Fandral but recovers.

Besides this, the markings on her face are the marks of an earlier rite of passage. She was there when the Legion first attacked in the events of Warcraft 3, the town she defended being one of the first attacked, and she was there at the war for Nordrassil.

In game, in Classic Wow she acted as a leader of a small outpost, sending you to find missing night elves and research the naga, while since Cataclysm she has the second biggest alliance non-capital base, filled with an army of night elves, worgen, glaive throwers and all other means of creatures you, the player, are sent to ask to rejoin the night elven army. She also sends you to battle for a foothold in Scarlet Monastery and to help the Alliance in Stranglethorn.

Relating to her relationship with Jarod, it is seemed that in a book, Wolfheart I belive but not sure, it is said that she did have some time together with Jarod, but she wanted to be more involved in the decisions of her people while Jarod wanted to go in the shadow. Jarod met a young priestess and left Shandris one day without a word. Said priestess died, and the meeting of Jarod and Shandris in Cataclysm was awkward to say the least.

Talking about in-game mechanics, at the start of Cataclysm she used to be kited to Orgrimmar. Because of her AoE Moonfire ability, she could kill anyone in 1-2 seconds. Actually, even if Garrosh Hellscream had double her life, she 1-shot him with this ability... if this was cannonical, she'd now be the warchief of the Horde, so if you're Horde and reading this, you should bow to her, not to Garrosh!

Shandris feathermoon's lover is Commander jarod shadowsong, who is as of patch 4.2 leading the frontal assault on the firelord in the molten front. Jarod shadowsong is also the younger brother of Maiev Shadowsong - who im sure you all know - wich actually makes Shandris Feathermoon the sister in law of Maiev Shadowsong, she is also a surrogate daughter of Tyrande whisperwind, who is the lover of Malfurion Stormrage, so there you have it, the 4 most badass night elves all connected somehow far out in 1 family, one could also include illidan stormrage being Malfurions brother, but i would'nt call Illidan a night elf anymore :)

For those complaining about her low HP, as of patch 5.4 she has a whopping 348M HP. And btw for those like me who couldn't find her - she's not in the tower but rather on the 2nd balcony of the house adjacent to it. (Stairs at 45.95, 47.74)

Trying to get to her will spawn Lvl 90 guards out of nowhere with 4.727.292 HP that deal ~50k damage with Arcane Shot.

Edit: While attacking her those guards spawn at a rate of almost 1 guard per second and all of their attacks ignore line of sight (shoot through walls).

Unfortunately, she is un-kitable as of Patch 5.4, (Maybe before that), attempted to kite her a few times, kept dots on her, once you hit the well outside the building she seems to auto lose aggro.
