Occasionally, if you are patient, you can catch another of Blizzard's fantastic 'ecosystem details' with the grizzlies. The 'mother bear' will begin to scratch at the snow, finally unearthing a Snowshoe Hare. When this is done, she bellows, and the cub will run out, kill the hare, and run back to Momma's side.

another 'ecosystem detail' you will observe is that once you kill the mother bear but leave the cub alive the cub will stay by the side of thier deceased mother

For hunters looking to tame one of these, the level range is not 68-73 as stated in the info box. All the Arctic Grizzlies shown on the map are level 72-73.

Seems to have Snowshoe Hares as minions, instead of Cubs... Very strange, and probably a bug.

As of 7.0.3, this mob now has a chance to drop Tome of Polymorph: Polar Bear Cub (I'd estimate about 1-3%) for mages only, as a replacement to the removed glyph Charred Glyph that used to modify your polymorph to the polar bear cub prior to 6.0.2.

Other polymorph tomes added as drops at this time are Tome of Polymorph: Monkey from Hozen mobs and Tome of Polymorph: Porcupine from Pandaren Porcupines.

I would estimate the drop rate for Tome of Polymorph: Polar Bear Cub to be closer to 1-2%. It took my mage 322 kills for one to drop. These 13-15 spawn points are also heavily camped (go figure), so expect quite a bit of grinding if you must have it now.

Just got the tome after around 800 kills, don't give up you will get it eventually.

P.S. Threatening the bears that you will make them go extinct does NOT increase the chances they will drop the tome >.>

Dont get me wrong i am all for new items to be added to the game, but adding this drop to this mob is frustrating for low lvl toons who are trying to do the quest in dragonblight.
Blizzard could have added this drop to a mob that is not required for a quest. Or up the respawn rate on them

Tome of Polymorph: Polar Bear Cub dropped around the 50th kill, near the Horde base.
(Hint: Little bigger chance to get your tome, IF the little cub follow the Mother Grizzly)

The wrong mob spawns occasionally with this bear now..

Instead of a level 67 Arctic Grizzly Cub a level 5 (aggressivae) Snowshoe Rabbit spawns. Which disappears after you kill the Arctic Grizzly. Its quite funny A Grizzly caring for a little rabbit.

Roughly 120 kills later, it drops. Scaled, the bear was level 79 with no baby or bunny over by Forgotten Shore.

Appearently these can still drop if you already know the spell AND even if you have multiple of these same tomes in your inventory.

Just to confirm still dropping after 8.0.1.

218 Arctic Grizzly kills for the drop which appears in line with the 1:200 (0.50%) drop rate in the database.

Why did they give her a Cub? I felt horrible farming these. :(

Be careful, killing the Grizzly Cub will make you feel bad for a long time without any benefit.

This seems to have around a 1% drop rate, I got it after ~120 bear kills, stopped tracking after 100 but its not too bad of a grind, the best area to farm the bears seems to be light's trust, circling the area typically meant the bears would respawn for each sweep I did. It's best to put something to watch on your other monitor and just keep killing the bears till it drops TBH.
