There is a smattering of them all along the northern Enraged Air Spirit area. Dropped grey trash, don't have skinning so I couldn't check that. They are also untameable.

They drop Cobra Scales, along with Knothide leather scraps and Knothide leather, about the same drop rate as the Cobras in the caves in Northern SMV

For a skinner looking to make some gold, the spawn point for these is one of the best farming areas in the game. Not only will you get the Cobra Scale drops from the serpents, but the place is crawling with Enraged Air Spirits. You can collect 1-3 scales and a few Primal Airs in an hour's time here. That's a very good hourly rate on most servers if you AH all the mats.

If you're working on Netherwing Rep make sure you have A Slow Death (http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=11020) in your log as you grind and pick up the scorps here as well (also skinnable for knothide) for the Fel Glands.

They share the spawnpoint with scorpids, so when you don't find any, kill skorpids, and after a short time, there will probably spwn a snake.

i think that the drop rate for the cobra scales is much lower than 10% my mods are telling me its about 2-5%. IIt is still probably worth farming here because of the elementals.

I was totally unable to skin these today. The icon never appeared for me. Skinning cobras in the cavern worked fine. Anyone know if these have been changed or was I just bugged?

Could just be luck, but I spent 2 hours farming Shadow Serpents and got 2 Cobra Scales, spent an ungodly amount of time flying around, waiting for respawns, and killing the scorpids who share a timer to get more Shadow Serpents to spawn. I got fed up and headed for the Coilskar Cobra area and got 4 scales in around 10 minutes (one mob dropped 2 scales!). I also think they respawn faster than the Shadow Serpents. Just remember to go inside the cave there too cuz there's a bunch in there, but that might be annoying not having stealth or being low level.

These serpents seem to have a joint respawn probability with the Scorchshell Pincers so if you are farming the Cobra Scales keep killing both the serpents and the pincers. That will also give you some extra knothide leather.
