Dispel, dispel, dispel.

That's the key to this fight.

If you have anything that breaks magic effects when frozen bind lands on you that helps too, just make sure your whole group is outside of the circle before you do it.

Our group wiped countless times before I pointed out to the healer that they needed to dispel Frozen Binds once we all cleared the circle, once that was explained, we got it in one go.

So this in the end turned out to be a mostly easy fight. Just basically two phases, DPS and run around... Tank the guy in a corner. Everyone stay out of the center blue area. When he starts to cast his storm, everyone just rotate clockwise to the next corner. Tank in the next corner... Rinse and repeat until deal. Don't let him get to the center and don't be in the center to get frozen to the ground.

Agree to all go clockwise if you can otherwise you just track into someone elses storm trail.

When I was exiled as a fire mage, I killed the mob downstairs and then cauterized. I was immediately teleported back onto the main platform and it killed me. I assume it was because I "died" during the exile, while in reality I had health left over from the cauterize. Has anyone else experienced this?

So, it looks like this may not be soloable. If you can't kill him before he casts Dark Exile on you there is no one to engage him on his platform and he despawns, ending the fight. Pets do not count because they also vanish when you are teleported to the lower level.

I was able to solo as fury on mythic 10.0.5 with Phial of Static Empowerment. Just reflect the icy bind cast and you can stay on him without moving.

Just solo'd this one. BM Hunter ilvl 397 patch 10.0.5

I made sure all effects were ready and used primal rage and dire beast to increase haste.

As soon as I engaged, I used wild spirits and dire beast. Just used my DPS and haste to full effect. He was casting the dark exile as he died.

Was able to kill solo quickly enough at ilvl 362 on Normal with a prot paladin. Insta damage DF trinket (Integrated Primal Fire) and Avenging Wrath to max dps.

just soloed him 2nd week in a row and he dropped nothing, only gold. not sure what's causing this bug, dropped loot like normal last week.

After some testing, it turns out you can solo him even if you don't have enough DPS to kill him in like 30 seconds, before he casts his first Dark Exile.

The key to avoid his Dark Exile seems to be to not bring any pets or guardians, resp. dismiss them before he reaches 100 energy, and not call them again afterwards. I was able to solo him in Mythic as a level 60 Death Knight, which means that I couldn't use Raise Dead, and also had to stay away from using Abomination Limb when being soulbound to Soulbind: Plague Deviser Marileth, because it would spawn Kevin's Oozeling, which also caused a Dark Exile.
(Unfortunately I needed this soulbind for his other ability Ultimate Form)

Then all you have to take care of is either to not get frozen by Frozen Binds, or be able to survive the following Comet Storm while being frozen in place. As a level 70 this shouldn't be a problem, as a level 60 this is a challenge.

Not all additional "things" cause a Dark Exile though, I was able to use Dancing Rune Weapon just fine, and Bloodworms also didn't seem to cause it to be cast (although I only had this talent for a short period while testing).

Overview – Upon reaching 100 Energy, Nalthor the Rimebinder banishes a player to the lower reaches of Zolramus. Players banished in such a fashion must negotiate a frozen gauntlet to rejoin their allies and continue their assault on Nalthor.
- Tank –
  Avoid [Comet Storm].
  [Frozen Binds] will chain its effect to nearby allies when it is removed.
- Damage Dealers –
  [Frozen Binds] will chain its effect to nearby allies when it is removed.
  During [Dark Exile] slay the Zolramus Siphoner to free the bound kyrian and return to your allies.
- Healer –
  [Frozen Binds] will chain its effect to nearby allies when it is removed.
  Dispel [Frozen Binds].
Comet Storm – Nalthor calls down icy comets at each player's location every 0.5 sec for 4 sec. Each comet inflicts 494636 Frost damage to all players within 3 yards of the impact and increases their damage taken by Comet Storm by 25% for 5 sec.
Icebound Aegis – Nalthor shields himself in a curtain of ice, preventing the next 778556 damage. While the shield is active, waves of frosty energy emanate from him, inflicting 206098 Frost damage every 3 sec to all players.
Icebound Aegis – Nalthor shields himself in a curtain of ice, preventing the next 622845 damage. While the shield is active waves of frosty energy emanate from him, inflicting 123659 Frost damage to all players every 3 sec and increases the damage taken of Icebound Aegis by 10% for 5 sec. This effect stacks.
Frozen Binds – Nalthor unleashes tendrils of frost to bind a random player, immobilizing them and inflicting 164879 Frost damage every 2 sec for up to 12 sec.
Upon expiration, this effect spreads to all players within 16 yards.
Icy Shard – Nalthor launches a shard of ice at his current target, inflicting 824394 Physical damage.
Dark Exile – Nalthor banishes a player from his platform to the lower wings of the necropolis.
After 50 sec, players banished to the lower wings are slain outright unless they escape.
- Frigid Cold – While on the lower platforms freezing winds buffet the player, continually reducing their movement speed by 2% every 6 sec.
  Upon expiring, an area of Razorshard Ice is created covering an area based on the number of Frigid Cold applications gained.
  - Razorshard Ice – Covers an area with sharp crystals of ice for up to 2.5 min. Standing in the area inflicts 123659 Frost damage and reduces movement speed by 25%.
- Comet Storm – Icy comets drop from the sky inflicting 494636 Frost damage to all players within 5 yards of the impact and increases their damage taken by Comet Storm by 25% for 5 sec.
- Blizzard – Ice shards pelt the area, inflicting 247444 Frost damage every 1.5 sec. Players hit with Blizzard become Chilled, reducing their movement speed by 70% for 5 sec.
  - Chilled – Reduces the target's movement speed by 70% for 5 sec.
- Zolramus Siphoner
  - Enfeeble – The caster channels a beam of necrotic energy at the player, inflicting 24732 Shadow damage every 1 sec and reducing their haste and movement speed by 50% for up to 5 sec.
- Gilded Champion
  - Champion's Boon – The Gilded Champion bestowes their blessing upon the hero that saved them, increasing critical strike chance by 100% for 40 sec.
