I had a tough time beating him, so I kited him around the chamber and let Brann do most of the damage. After he transforms it's even more advisable to keep your distance because he gains a move which stuns you and then applies a heavy DoT if you’re in close range.

You definitely have to keep your distance. As an Unholy DK, I hit him with Outbreak which made my pet and Magni both jump at the Prophet and take aggro, Use Dark transformation, Death and Decay and Outbreak to keeps your DOTs up and LOS him as much as you can

Interesting factoid, I wasn't able to kill it as my gear had dropped to 0, so I hearted home, repaired and flew back to Uldum. When I got there Magni dialog box had the option to bypass the cinematics and I did and the quest was not done: yellow question mark on Magni... Is this an error?

Something I just found. My gear broke so I hearthed out to repair and flew back to enter the instance. Once in I noticed I could not enter the chamber he is in because a door is closed. However since I initially left some adds alive I could unequip my gear to save durability and let them kill me. Upon respawning I appeared in the room with him. Hopefully that can help someone in a similar situation.

The worst ever quest line. Tried all the hints but still took 6 deaths to finally get him. Cost 253 gold to repair everything afterwards. Not sure if it is worth it.

Being a Mage with not so great gear there was simply no beating that boss. I had to repair like 3 times. I tried using greater invisibility so Bronzebeard could do the work but that just made the mob run off & reset :/

So finally I said 'F' it and bought off the AH a few Abyssal Healing Potions (i think i paid 120 a piece) they heal like 140k so yeah. Only needed one tho. but with using that pot, I was able to finish him off easily.

I got him done as a 364 arms warr. finally succeeded by literally running the length of the hall back and forth, with each time i had to pass him id get in a concentrated flame, warbreaker, impending victory or bladestorm. point being - you have to be not just 'at range' but really far away which of course will kite him but....if you are far enough away the void bolt misses you into the ground and there is no DoT application.

Apparently, if you have already completed this on one of your other characters, you can skip this. Simply talk to Magni before you enter the instance and tell him that you heard the take before and you just want to skip it. I personally have no problem doing this quest, but Sun Prophet Tenhamen is so OP, it was impossible to on a fresh 120.

This guy is ridiculous. The only way I managed to do this on a fresh 120 rogue, was smack him down to his transformation, then run up and down the hall, chucking a few poisoned knives, spamming crimson vial and evasion whilst Magni did the heavy lifting. Otherwise, it's impossible.

when he transitions run all the way back to the entrance I never lost aggor to Mag I just ran and hid until vial came off CD hit it again then wen in and reapplied dots and he died

Can this be done as a group if all members are on this? Because dying over and over again as a mage is NOT fun. There is no kiting far enough away. I even tried the "trick" of hearthing out, repairing, and taking the portal back to silithus and flying down to Uldum again and entering the instance again, and it reset the ENTIRE thing. Um, no thanks.

Anyone have better guidance for a squishy mage? And WHY are mages so much squishier than they used to be, even on Frost spec? It's absolutely ridiculous and infuriating.

Did today on 120 war... Magni didn't pull agro from me... might have been fixed. Wish I had known I could skip it...

408 Feral Druid. Died the first time because I was unprepared for how hard I was going to get hit. 2nd attempt I just kept bleeding him and running far enough away that if I got stunned, the timer would expire before he got in range to do some serious harm. Healing when needed and like most others have said, let Magni do the hard work (though aggro was on me the entire time). Never cam close to dying with this strategy.

So I just ran into the connecting chamber after the dude was under half health, it ended up passing the retirement, even though I didn't kill him. I just get out of his sight and let Mangi take care of him

342 Havoc DH and I have tried all the tricks and nothing works, I just die over and over and over. Guess I don't get my cloak :(

For Warriors with Heroic Leap and Concentrated Flame (or other methods of healing):

This boss was way too difficult for me. Couldn't possibly beat it. After like 3 tries I just stopped fighting it all together.

What you'll need to do is hit him once to get him chasing you, then Magni will begin attacking him. You will always have aggro, there is no way to get it off of you (afaik), so he will chase you the entire time. The key is to just stay as far away as possible so he can't cast anything on you. What I did was run around the entire perimeter of area (but not up the stairs to the consoles on the sides), just up and down the middle, and when I got to the end where Tenhamen spawns, I just ran around the perimeter of his chamber, then back out and into the main area. It took like 6 full loop-arounds until he was dead. While I was running around, I used Heroic Leap to jump as far away as possible to get as much distance as possible (then, just wait until he gets too close, then run to the other end). I just kept using it as soon as it became available. I also used Concentrated Flame whenever it was available to heal myself. After running around like 6 times he should eventually die.

If you're having trouble like I was and keeping yourself at a distance wasn't working since Magni never took aggro and Shadowmelding or Vanishing made the NPC reset, try LOS (line-of-sight) around the edges of the stairs.
Both forms of the NPC cast spells at you so get some distance and hide around a corner of the stairs. Once the cast fails, pop-out and the NPC will start casting again.
Rinse and repeat for both forms and run to another set of stairs when the NPC gets too close.

did it on my 289 ilvl havoc DH. run up and down, every now and then throw glaive, and use fel rush through him and to get away

Thanks for all the comments - on a not highly geared feral dru I did choose to run this time, zapped him once from a distance to kick Magni off, then I ran around the chamber staying clear of the various other npcs working the batteries, still got the odd magic hit, but had time to heal by keeping my distance, then jumped in when his health was under about 20% and finished the quest - pain to do though, will check skipping the scenario option next character I level up to this point.

Died swiftly twice trying to eliminate him in feral druid, came here and read that you can't defeat him melee. Tried again and defeated him by going into Moonkin, standing back, healing a lot, and zapping him at a distance.

For anyone stuck on this quest - I tried a dozen times as an arms warrior with every trick I could think of. I finally found a YouTube video that showed you run him all the way to the opposite end of the room (where you come in from originally) and keep him there. When you die, you respawn right next to him and need to immediately aggro him again - if he makes it back to his starting spot he fully heals. But if you can aggro him before then, you can continue killing him even after you die repeatedly.
