This game will lack balance as long he runs it. So no thanks.
Here is a thing...MMO =/= MMORPG. People see MMO tag and first thing that comes into mind is WoW. In reality MMO can be anything. The game can be closer to Rust than to WoW. Only thing you can say for sure from MMO tag is that game is going to be online game.
It's finally over. No more waiting around for Blizzard to "fix" WoW, no more arguing with the FFXIV community on why miserable netcode/engine and a 2.5s GCD do-not-a-good-MMO-make, and no more korean P2W MMOs that come and go within 3 months. It's finally, actually over.Thank god, man.
This is good news! New ideas can be implemented in the world of MMOs and competition keeps Blizzard on their toes to make a good game too.
Meh, it is Riot. In the end it will be money-grubbing free to play hot garbage targeting the lowest possible level audience, with playerbase so toxic nobody sane would touch it with a ten foot pole.Blizzard has not been the best company in recent years, but if there is one thing they can boast, that is they have never been as bad as Riot.
Can Riot actually come up with an original game for once ? League is Dota copy , Valorant is CS copy and now a WoW copy ?Personally I can't stand the kiddy aesthetics of their games , so I doubt this new MMO will be anything different , but GL to Riot .
Riot can handle simple games because they depend on simple formulas. A lot of their experience comes from implementing that formula and tooling it. About all their games so far are competitive online games, which are perfect examples of that.Building something like an MMO from the ground up, something infinitely more complex than a MOBA or card game, will be a huge test for Riot. It's not one I expect them to pass. I'm honestly surprised they are taking the risk.
I don't yet know what to feel about this.I'm very skeptical about this decision. Not a huge League fan and I've been following WoW lore for waaaay too long for me to switch sides. Also I don't believe it will be that much of a BLAST game.
FINALLY! HYPE! HAHA you are so scared
Is he going to try to make PVE and PVP equal? Like he "tried" in WoW?
Not a fan of LoL , no MMO can compare to WOW , but wish him good luck .
You're playing an ActivisionBlizzard Game and dare to talk about mediocrity ? lmao Where's Overwatch, Diablo or even WoW? they're not topping any charts or views. Keep getting your money milked loot-box subscription boy.
Well, the individual lore of LoL's characters and cities is actually interesting, the reason why they are controlled by "summoners" is just lame. Take the second away, keep the first, and the setting is already beautiful.
Oh WoW i didn't expect this from the comments...I expected to be the negitive guy with my comment that it's going to take at least 2-3 years before they release it(that's assuming it's an MMORPG and they've been working on it for at least 2-3 years already), but reading all these comments... I'm not sure if people are acting stupid or are being serious? You can hate on Riot all you want, but their games are good. In terms of polish they are topnotch and that's really important, especially if they make an MMORPG which as of right now it's not confirmed... In a way even LoL is an MMO afterall. Millions of players are playing it online at the same time, so before I see a clear statement I'm not getting hyped.I saw comments on some people who are apparently really important and famous and are worried that someone will stole their data and sell it... well for most regular people that's not an issue, not to mention that everyone that have a phone or a PC have already given their data away long ago.Riot's artstyle being cartoonish... yeah because WoW is so realistic. It's a bit strange to read such comments from people that play WoW.There's too much games in the MMORPG market? Seriously? WoW and...? No seriously. I saw people talking about swotr(who plays this thing) and FF14(literally the only other game in the market). The Division and Destiny aren't real MMORPG's... they are a mix of MMORPG/ARPG for me and they aren't simply in the same market. You can't expect to experience the same fights you do in WoW and FF14.There are upcoming titles, BUT who knows if they are any good or not. As of right now there is no alternative to WoW. FF14 is great, but it's for niche players. The only real competitor WoW ever had was Wildstar(in ways it was even better), but NCSoft did a C section and didn't give it a chance, despite all the urging from the community on the forums before it's murder I mean release. And then there was the peak comment from Makenzimn that LoL is a Dota copy(as far as I know the person/s who created DOTA created LoL. He/they couldn't get the rights for DOTA, so he/they made LoL.) Just from not knowing this your comment already doesn't have any value. Then you say that Valorant is a copy of CS? Not really. It's more of a mix of Overwatch(copy of TF2) and CS. It's a shooter. I'm curious what else you would've done to make it unique and eSports ready? No, seriously how would you have made a shooter game any different than what's on the market? And finally a copy of WoW... we don't even know if it's an MMORPG as I said since MMO doesn't mean MMORPG automatically let alone how it looks and what's the gameplay, so I'm really curious how did you come up with the idea that it's a WoW copy? Because it's an MMORPG? Everything you've said have no logic behind it.
Eh. It'll be a F2P MMO where player power and all of the cool skins are sold to you for insane prices. It'll also be a 'weeb' MMO where 75% of the characters are semi-naked children and young women and the other 25% are masked men with swords. Definitely not my cup of tea
It is well known that Riot is making an MMO and now we have the official confirmation that they do so. I don't really know much about LoL's lore or have played any of its games but i am certain that this is a very good thing for the genre and for the industry in general. Personally i don't care atm for many things such as the paying model or the type of what the game it would be (tab RPG, aRPG, mixRPG, shooter, or whatever), i only care that a very experienced AAA developer enters a very saturated market and might offer some innovation, all other things are irrelevant. MMO is a genre that i adore and tbh other than WoW there are no other huge players out there that triggers you to play more than a couple months after you dinged your character at their respective maximum lvl (most MMOs fail to engage you even for that). These are huge news, but i hope this game is not aged away. I think, by now, most people hate early announcements of an upcoming project and seeing it in development for years. I would prefer if that game is only a year tops two years away from its deployment.
That guy who became Lead System Designer on 14 millions and left on 6 millions? Good luck Riot Games.
I hope they capture the toxiness of the game really well. I don't want to miss out on that!
I wonder if they'll charge $70-$100 for a cosmetic set.
